About Becky

Both Jim and I grew up in the Chicago area and live in the City now.

My husband Jim has been traveling to the North Shore since he was boy and has great memories of his family vacations there.

My first trip to the North Shore was just after we were married 15 years ago. I fell in love with area immediately and never wanted our vacations to come to an end.

Becky purchased this house in 2012

Why Becky chose Lutsen

We have been looking for the perfect house and piece of property ever since our first trip up together. Finally our dream came true this past year.

Growing up in, and living in Chicago now, we love the fact, that when at Twin Cedars we can't see our neighbors. That was very important to us.

We try to get to Twin Cedars every chance we get but in the mean time want to share this beautiful piece of the North Shore with you.

What makes this house unique

I remember very vividly my first glimpse of Lake Superior right from the driveway. As I walked down the gentle sloping path into the yard for the first time, I saw a cute little footbridge crossing over a seasonal creek. Not only did I have a beautiful, walkable, ledge rock shore stretching out in front of me but a babbling brook as well.

As I strolled up the small creek bed lined with stones and wild roses I realized we had a small Springtime waterfall located just off the deck. This is one of my husbands favorite things to enjoy while grilling.

Inside the house is all 'Knotty pine' that gives you that true 'Up North' feeling.

This is a 1960's custom built house with lots of fun interesting features. With the updated track lighting you can either do some fine needle work and reading or have a cozy family movie night.

Both the Family room and A-Frame have fantastic views of the lake. Just off the A-Fame are a few bird feeders rigged to attract a variety of different species and with windows all around being from floor to ceiling the bird watching can be exceptional. It sometimes feels like you are in your own tree house.

The Family room has a huge picture window that looks out over the deck and Lake Superior. You can see all the way to the Horizon here.

Nordic Charm Galore

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from a wonderful ski/snowboard weekend at Twin Cedars. This place is a true gem. Gorgeous knotty pine (or cedar??) interior with interesting details, ladder leading to a loft, nooks and crannies oh my! Everything from the furniture to the light fixtures to the artwork added lovely touches pulling everything together. We had 6 people and 2 dogs and there was plenty of space. Becky is great with communication and very accommodating. It was hard to leave after just 2 nights…would’ve loved an extra day! However, with it being one of the coldest weekends of the year, I wouldn’t mind getting up there in warmer temps when the breathtaking yard/lake views can be better enjoyed! The one thing that would just put this place over the top would be a hot tub on the deck…please consider, Becky! ;)

A slice of heaven on the North Shore

  • 5 of 5

We spent four nits at Twin Cedars over the Christmas holidays with our two 20 year old daughters and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The cabin is such a treasure and so well kept and decorated! We loved watching the lake from the cabin, I can't imagine how nice it would be in the summer when you can sit in the many places on the property and watch the lake. We brought our dog, Cosmo, and he also enjoyed the cabin. It is hard to find a place that will take dogs but this cabin was a perfect fit for our family. We downhill skied at Lutsen two days (only 5 minutes away) and then had to drive to the Gunflint Trail to find snow to cross country one day (normally we can go within miles of the cabin and cross country ski). It was a great trip, thanks Becky and Jim! We will return!

Owner's Response: Hi Linda and Jim. Wow thank you so much for the review. I'm glad you got in some xcountry skiing too. The pictures from Lutsen Mt. were fantastic and I love the picture of Cosmo sitting in front of the big picture window in the Aframe. I hope he got to see some of the flying squirrel action. We would love to have you guys come back over the summer some time. There are so many great festival and events to enjoy or you could just fire up the grill and relax on the deck. Jim and I had fun decorating, picking out furniture and working on the landscaping but how clean the cabin is, is all thanks to my Cabin Maintenance Service. They are the best around. Thanks again and Happy New Year !

Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

Our family just returned from a stay at this cabin, and it was a wonderful experience. We didn't want to go home! The grounds are amazing - right on the lake, a fire pit, and lots of space for our young daughter to go exploring. We enjoyed the sunrises and sunsets from the seats out back. The cabin itself is lovely, comfortable, and full of everything you need to feel at home. We are hoping to make this visit an annual tradition! Thanks for everything, Becky and Jim!

Great stay at Twin Cedars

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful week at Twin Cedars. This was our fourth visit to the North Shore and our second stay at Twin Cedars. It is our favorite because it is well appointed, has fantastic views, nicely secluded, very comfortable, located close to all North Shore attractions and is dog friendly. We would definitely recommend staying at Twin Cedars unless of course it's the weeks we want to visit the North Shore. Also, Becky is a delight to work with.

Owner's Response: Hi Carole, Thanks for such a great review. It was pleasure working with you again and so glad you wanted to share Twin Cedars with your friends. That is a compliment in itself. We are hoping your plans next year are for a return to TC. Scratch Miguel for us. Happy New Year.

Wonderful North Shore Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Wow, this has become our new favorite place to stay on the North Shore! The cabin was clean, warm, inviting and well stocked, with lots of extra personal touches that made it so welcoming. The beds were super comfortable. We really appreciated the mix of usable space and nature in the backyard. We loved the lake area with the pebble beach (so much easier for the dogs to enjoy the water). The firepit area with the Adirondack chairs and picnic table was great. Also, there are so few places that allow you to bring your dogs, but they go out of their way to welcome them (towels for wiping feet, dog dishes, dog blankets and doggie bags available all around the property). Becky was friendly and great to work with. Our only suggestion would be more seating in the living room area.

We are definitely looking forward to our next opportunity to visit Twin Cedars.

Owner's Response: Hi Tracy. Wow thanks for such a great review. I am so glad all of you enjoyed your stay. The pebble beach is fun. Coop loves biting at the waves and chasing his stick there. One of his most favorite things to do is drink straight out of the waterfall when it's going. I agreed about the family room and seating options. We have been trying to figure out how to add more comfortable seating without over crowding the room or blocking our fabulous view of the lake. We have those comfy red velvet chairs that move easily from room to room and since your review we have added 4 new cushioned directors chairs. These are great because they can easily be folded up and stored out of the way during the day and brought out in the evening for cards or movie night. If you combine these with or "Bear" foot rests they are top notch. Thanks for your suggestion! I hope to have you all back very soon. Sincerely, Becky

In addition to fantastic scenery and bird watching right off the deck, there are miles of diverse hiking and biking trails that in the winter turn to cross country ski and snow mobile trails.

Just a 5 minute drive from the house is a beautiful water fall down an easy 300 foot path. Or you can choose from many other paths at the same location and take a moderate to more challenging hike and be gone for as long as you want. Many of the Superior Hiking Trail 'heads' are just a stones throw away.

For Downhill Skiers, we are just 2 miles from Beautiful Lutsen Mountain with beginner to Olympic style runs and for Golfers, Superior National Golf Course is 5 minutes away and offers exceptional views as you make your way from Tee to Tee.
