Glamorous spacious villa with 70-foot pool, Caribbean view

We spent a fantastic week in the Galleries over Easter. We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers, and the house was just a dream. Everything is top quality from the bed linen to the furnishings, it is spotless, the house has lots of character and is done up in the best style and comfort with all mod cons combined with the plantation style of its gorgeous wooden verandahs running all the way around with spectacular views. All the rooms are huge and there are lots of them, from a vast modern kitchen to bedrooms with four-posters to the sitting room looking over the sea and even an enormous air-conditioned media room, The house gets sea breezes day and night, and has good air conditioning and lots of powerful ceiling fans . It feels very secluded and sits in its own big and beautiful garden (though it's not isolated, there are other properties either side). The swimming pool is in the most beautiful setting we've ever seen, with monkeys playing nearby in the trees and scampering across the lawn. Nevis is a small island and the Galleries is very well located for white sandy beaches (incredibly quiet even at Easter), restaurants, and cafes and it's a short drive to the supermarkets.
The island has a lot of history and the character of the Galleries makes you feel part of it. Oliver's travel arrangements worked perfectly, and his tourist suggestions are well worth following. The house agent Millie is very helpful and just up the road if any advice is needed.
Adults and teenagers had an equally great time and enjoyed the house and the island immensely. Highly highly recommended

We had a fabulous time on Nevis, and are so glad we chose The Galleries as our home base. Oliver was extraordinarily helpful in arranging the details for a comfortable and stress-free stay -- everything from coordinating our rental car to arranging our transfer from the airport to providing restaurant suggestions. The house manager, Millie, is lovely and always available for any additional questions that arise.

The home itself is beautiful, spacious and comfortable. The setting is very tranquil but within easy reach of everything. We especially enjoyed the pool area and watching for the frequent visits from the green vervet monkeys and making cocktails in the well-stocked bar area. Oualie Beach is very nearby and great for swimming with little ones (we have a 2.5 year old who loved it)! Pinney's Beach (home to Sunshine's) and many other restaurants are also just a short drive away -- the location is perfect.

Tip: It's best to have a car if you're staying at the Galleries. If you plan to rent a car on Nevis and split your time between Nevis and St. Kitts, we found it was very easy to take it over on the car ferry, and to have your rental agency pick it up at the airport in St. Kitts after your departure. Rentals in general seem to be much more expensive on St. Kitts and the car ferry is quite cheap and goes 6 times a day. We also recommend trying to get a reservation to sit inside the sugar mill at Montpelier -- a truly romantic and memorable dining experience.

We wish we were on our way back to the Galleries now. But until next time, we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

We arrived at the Galleries in Sept and were immediately wowed - what a home! What character! We stepped off the motorboat, sent to get us from St.Kitts, on to Pinney's Beach, and then after a short drive up the hill we were greeted by the impressive stone steps leading up to the galleried first floor - it was very James Bond, mixed with Gone with the Wind!
The Galleries has so much character - waking up, the sun streaming through the shutters, and then stepping out on to the verandah to see the sea just down the lane, sometimes seeing monkeys in the garden, just taking in the peace and quiet. For all it's character, the Galleries is fantastically well-equipped - all mod-cons in place - we were left wanting for nothing. The huge lap pool was a real treat, and many days were interspersed with short walks down to the pool, a few lengths, and then back to sit in the hammock on the gallery and sip our rum punches - our only quibble was fighting over whose turn it was for the hammock or the swing chair.
Nevis in Sept is very quiet, peaceful, slow....and we loved it! We hired a jeep and often drove round the island, exploring the sights. To be honest it felt a bit like going back in time - no pestering, no hassle - just friendly people.
We'd love to return and the Galleries would definitely be our choice of accommodation again - 10/10
