At the center of a wide valley, dominated by the walled enclosure of San Salvador, a Gothic church, we find the town of Arta. It is located in north eastern end of Mallorca. It is notable for the number of large traditional houses belonging to the rich former owners of possessions. Artá belongs to a protected natural area called 'Parc de Llevant'. The coast with 25 km in length, still retains its natural state and has been preserved from modern developments, maintaining its quiet beaches and beautiful countryside. A notable landmark belonging to the municipality area is the prehistoric town of 'Ses Païses' , the most important archaeological site in the east of the island. Another important landmark are the caves of Arta, located in the municipality of Capdepera 11km away from Arta, surrounded by mountains that rise above the sea.
You can find several beautiful beaches near Arta: Cala Torta, Cala Mitjana Estreta Cala, Cala Agulla, Cala Mesquida beach Canyamel, Font de Sa Cala, St Peter's Colony, all of which are located within 10 km.
