Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday farmhouse in Buire le sec - Buire Le Sec
Three bedrooms, three reception rooms, two bathrooms, kitchen + huge garden.

If you are looking for luxury and high tech - this property is not for you. What you will find here is lots of character, charm and space. We have owned this beautiful farmhouse for 8 years and visit frequently. The majority of time is spent around the huge circular table that seats 12 comfortably. There is a very large log burning fire that men enjoy making and everyone enjoys sitting around. The kitchen runs alongside the dining room with a huge opening between the two, which means that whoever is cooking can still be part of the group. This works really well and there tends to be quite a few chefs in the kitchen, whilst the rest of the group relax by the fire and around the table. We deliberately have no phone or T.V. However, there is a room full of games to suit everyone. There is a large barn with a ping pong table that can be used even when it rains. There is a small pool table and also a table football. We have 5 bikes (one's a tandem). The front garden is totally private.

Notes: It is a farmhouse in a rural location, so there may be the odd spider or insect and it is a very old property that is kept clean, but will not be spic and span. The baths are very small and most people shower. We want to be as honest as possible regarding details of the farmhouse. I would say that our many friends who have stayed with us over the years have found it very relaxing and have enjoyed the surrounding area which has something to offer everybody. Our pricing is very low, so that we can attract new bookings. Similar properties are charging allot more, so please take this into consideration before leaving negative feedback. However, we would appreciate any constructive criticism, so that we can improve our service.

We have had a marvelous time in buire -le- sec.

The farmhouse has a great garden, there a lots and lots of toys for inside and outside play.

There are some beautiful beaches nearby, some nice towns and museums to visit. You can find plenty of information about what to do and where to go in the house and the owner will provide you with all the info you need and more.

The house is well equipped and especially families with children will have no problem to entertain themselves!

A Charming House

5 out of 5
Review Submitted: 12 August 2012 Date of Stay: August 2012
This house was a very lucky find. We were looking for a last minute holiday without a long distance to travel. We were a very small party, and we found this very large house. The owner was extremely friendly and approachable and managed to assist our every need. Her friendship was matched by Claire, who lives next door, and provides the key and the tour of the building.

Buire le Sec is a small village, but takes a surprisingly long time to cycle through. Unfortunately there is no local shop, but there is plenty of choice within a 10-15 minute drive. The coast is a 25 minute drive - I would highly recommend the beautiful Quend les Pins and unless you want a garish experience would see no need to approach Berck. The town of Montreiul is beautiful and has a great Saturday market. The city of Amiens is worth a visit and the nearby Base Nautique provides excellent water sports for a very reasonable cost. However, if you just want to relax this house and garden could not be better.

The house has no TV or WiFi. This allows you to forget the hassles of the modern world. An iPod dock enables you to relax to music. Games, Games, Games - this is what brings the family together. We only just managed to crack the surface of what was on offer. In the end, as the weather improved, the barn with its ping pong table became the source of a lot of fun.

I loved the house - it was as described. Very clean and with the best collection of hand made mugs. The kitchen enabled me to cook everything I wanted. Everything worked and there were no grumbles to be had at all. It is so nice to go on holiday and for it to be all that you wanted and more. I would highly recommend this place to people who enjoy the simple rustic charm of rural life.

Wrinkly Riders third trip

The Wrinkly Riders
(Gloucestershire)
We are a group of mature Motorcyclists aged from 40 to 80 years (Mature in age Not mentality)
we have had the pleasure to use the cottage at Buire le sec three times in the last two years.
with groups of 10, 8 & 6 we always get a warm welcome from Clair and she is always on hand to help out should we need it.

the cottage has all the facility's we need, a well equipped kitchen the famous large dining table with the infamous lazy Susan , the bedrooms are very well set out for our needs as we can put all the snorers in one room, the garden is large enough for us to park our bikes out the front by the barn. (Apologies for the May trip as in was a little damp and we did rut the front lawn a little). the table football and the table tennis table get a lot of use as do the two supermarkets at Champagne-Les- Hesdin & Beaurainville both very good.

We use the cottage as our base camp to tour out to the various WW1 battle fields on the Somme including the poppy trail starting at Albert, including Beaumont-Heamel, Thiepval, Vimy, & the Ulster Tower to name just a few.( The Museum at Peronne is well worth a visit).
And the many small fishing ports & towns on the coast including Le Touquet , Berck , Le Treport & Saint Valery-Sur-Some , we also visit the Medieval battle fields at Crecy & the excellent Visitors centre at Agincourt (Although it does have a slight French slant to the story)we also recently found the underground City at Naours well worth a visit, it has a good audio guide and has a cafe on site.

The City's of Arras & Amiens are both well worth a visit, Wellington Quarry at Arras a must for the WW1 enthusiasts', Doullens is also well worth a visit one of our favourite coffee stops.

We are happy to recommend the Cottage at Buire le sec, as it is excellent value for money and well placed to visit a variety of places.
We highly recommend the Cottage & will be booking again for our annual trips in 2013

A great experience!

5 out of 5
Review Submitted: 19 August 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
We - a Swedish family of 5 - had a great stay in the farmhouse. The surroundings offered a great variety of excursions: the beaches (spectacular!), Montreuil-sur-mer (medieval charm), Le Touquet (jet set), Abbaye de Valloire (monastic elegance), the valleys (picturesque), Nausicaa (kid magnet), the very friendly neighbor's animals (exotic) and Amiens (city life and cathedral). When staying in the house we enjoyed the impressive collection of toys and board games, ping pong matches, the back garden, the comfy beds and the fact that nothing was missed.

We would also like to point out that the very honest description above might be true - it isn't luxury - but that in all honesty, we found that to be an overstatement. The house was not in a poor condition. The kitchen, laundry equipment, and bathroom were all - if not of last year's model - modern, highly functional, and efficient. We were also happily surprised to find a stereo with an iPod docking station.

Overall, we had a great stay, the only thing missing was a nearby boulangerie, however, the strawberry growers up the road almost made up for the shortage of a morning baguette.

The house suited our needs perfectly there were 12 of us for a three night stopover on our way back from the south of france. Unfortunately we did not have good weather but this did not detract from a very enjoyable stay. The garden, the play barn and all the toys we definitely a major hit with the kids, they didn't want to leave the house!
