A gem of a getaway! There are four bedrooms, the three upstairs share two new en-suite bathrooms and the bedroom on the ground floor has an en-suite water closet and another full bathroom. The cottage also boasts a newly renovated kitchen with fresh paint throughout making the family and living rooms a delight to relax in.
Amenities include a fully equipped kitchen with state of the art appliances, Television (cable) and internet (wifi).
Linen and bath towels are included (guests to bring their own beach towels).
A BBQ, patio and spacious lush green backyard with off-street parking will make this feel like a home away from home whilst on vacation.
Being an easy walk to the village and it's many restaurants, the beach and public transport (LIRR, The Jitney and Shelter Island Ferry) make this the ideal location to kick back and relax and leave the car parked for a few days.
We are a family who fell in love with Greenport and would like to eventually make this our primary home. Until we can do that we want to share the charm and warmth of our cottage and this wonderful village with people who will enjoy the area as much as we do.
We're recent residents of the US from Australia and love having a piece of paradise near the water.
Harun Sinha purchased this cottage in 2012
Being able to walk to the village, the beach and transport is just one of the reasons we chose this location. An easy summer stroll into the village for dinner without needing to drive is fantastic.
If you want to stay in and relax for the day, the back yard is a wonderful lush and green. The hedges provide some privacy for a back yard BBQ with family and friends.
My family rented this home after stumbling across it on this site. It's an adorable home, perfectly decorated, with what seem like very recent renovations. it was perfect for our mini-family reunion with 4 open, large bedrooms, each with a good deal of privacy. Great outdoor space, our kids loved playing in the yard. The house had a perfect location as well, not too close to town so it is always very quiet, but it is walking distance to the beach and also to the Hampton Jitney stop, which several members of our group took to get to Greenport. Also walking distance to town where there are a number of adorable restaurants that satisfy even the most critical foodies! We'll definitely be back!
Our first visit to Greenport and the Maritime Festival was great. House was very comfortable for 6 adults and was an easy walk to town. This house is super clean and the beds in the two main bedrooms are very comfortable. Bunk bed mattresses were adequate but mattress on futon in 4th bedroom was rather thin and hard. Bathrooms are wonderful with plenty of hot water for everyone. Living room is comfortable for tv viewing. A small tv in the bedroom would be a nice addition for children wishing to watch a dvd. A few suggestions to renters....this house does not provide a coffee maker so bring your own or be prepared to buy coffee every morning. Reading lamps next to beds are limited. There is only one closet for hanging clothes in the 3rd bedroom and no hooks on the walls in the other bedrooms. We had to hang clothing from the curtain rods. Sheer curtains are hung at the bedroom windows so be prepared to wake up early with the sun. Some comfortable lawn furniture on the porch and/or in the yard would have been nice as the weather was beautiful. We brought fold-up kitchen chairs outside.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. With the few additions noted above, the house would be perfect.
Came out to Greenport for a long weekend with a group of friends (mixed male/female, aged 26-30) for a wedding. We had a great stay at Kathy's home. It is only a few minute walk from downtown, the piers, the beach, and if you have a car a short drive to the wineries and other beaches. The Shelter Island ferry is also within walking distance. The house is nicely updated on the interior while maintaining a classic look. The photos are accurate to what we experienced. The backyard and porch are both a nice touch. My friends and I were very comfortable and had zero problems during our stay. Kathy was responsive and flexible, especially with our group size, pets, and our checkout time. I experienced no security, trash removal, insect (not in the house anyway....just like most beach towns, when you are outside, I would bring bug spray because that is the nature of late summer), or any other problems I noticed in another recent review. I also got my security deposit returned (in full) in one day. I highly recommend this home for a stay in Greenport, and would rent again if I returned. Thanks for the great stay!
I rented this house for long weekend with seven friends, and we had a wonderful time. The house was just as advertised and super clean, and we really enjoyed taking advantage of the spacious kitchen and porch. Conveniences were an easy walk away and we had no problems. Kathy was available and responsive via text. Overall, a great stay!
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely home. It was very convenient to town and beaches and the yard was perfect for play with our young grandchildren. They loved the bunk bed! Orient State Park is beautiful and worth the $10 daily admission.
THE HOUSE. We had a great 2 week stay here. The house was very clean with lots of space, a big yard for the kids (1.5 and 3.5 yrs) to run around in and chickens that occasionally crossed over from the neighbors' yard for a few minutes in the afternoon and at dinner time, which my girls loved! It's located on a quiet street/never had any issues with noise from neighbors. I needed to log on for work occasionally and WiFi worked perfectly/quickly. Washer/dryer also worked perfectly and we did a bunch of laundry as the girls got dirty from playing! I note there were no security issues/area felt very safe.
LOCATION. It's a 5 minute walk to the train/bus stop and a 7 minute walk to town - in the morning for an early breakfast/coffee (lots of places open at 7am - Blue Duck Bakery and D'Latte were favorites) or in the evening for dinner or to take the kids on the carousel. There were also lots of music/etc. events near the carousel in the evenings for kids. It's a 7 minute walk to the closest beach (which has a large playground and bathrooms and was the easiest place to take the kids swimming as there's a roped off area where the water's pretty calm). We also drove to Orient Beach and that was only 15 minutes away and was really nice too. Lastly, it's only a 35 min drive to the LI Aquarium which we also did one day.
The owner was very helpful, easy to reach with questions and (in response to some earlier comments) I would note she quickly refunded our security deposit.
Would stay again!
Disappointing! The grounds were not as pictured! Overgrown, unkempt, including a vacant bathtub in the back yard full of rain water, leaves and mosquito larva swimming!
The wooden porch is in need of repair to rotten areas. In addition, missing screens on all of the windows and the washer/dryer was broken! For a long stay, no garbage pickup! No lawn care! Don't plan on getting your security deposit back! Warning! a sketchy neighborhood, We were robbed! Lock your doors, but always a entrance through the windows! Would not recommend!
