Why visit Calasetta
The territory of Calasetta offers numerous beaches of outstanding beauty. The coast of Calasetta is steep and rocky and sandy and low in the west to the north east. The coastline has suffered three major fractures that correspond to three beautiful beaches: Porto Spiaggiagrande or higher, and the Salina Sottotorre. Of incomparable beauty the presence of a rocky bastion in the west that extends up to 10 m in depth that has contributed to the creation of caves and rocks to great effect. One of the most striking examples of the work of the Sea is undoubtedly 'The nest of sparrows', a couple of rocks emerging from so called because of the many birds that take refuge.
Calasetta is very famous for its distinctive urban tower which appears frequently in the images of the country. Built before the foundation of the town, around 1737, was built by the Savoy in defense of the canal between S. Antioco el \ 'island of San Pietro.
