Ideal holiday rental self catering 2/3 bedroom centrally located garden villa

FREE taxi from airport. A lovely spacious, well furnished two/three bedroom villa with charming patio garden and top sun terrace offering high standard accommodation for 3/4 people. The tiled bathroom has bath with shower over, WC, bidet and wash basin plus a downstairs separate WC and wash basin (outside is an extra shower/toilet). The main bedroom has a Madeiran Style four poster bed, second bedroom with single bed & the top floor has a delightful 'studio' room with an adult sized day bed(extra cost for fourth person). Off this room is the sun terrace with two sun loungers and offering views across Funchal town with mountain and distant sea views. Downstairs the large comfortable sitting/dining room is on a split level and adjacent is the Madeira style kitchen. Lovely private patio garden with trees/shrubs and flowers. TV/DVD/radio supplied and internet connection available if booked in advance. Very easy walk downhill into Funchal city centre and close to harbour & Catarina Park

Golfing on Madeira: There are two courses on the Island and one course on the nearby Island of ~Porto Santo. Both the courses on the Island of Madeira are in a wonderful location and are not far from Funchal.

The course on Porto Santo is fairly new but it is a two hour ship ride away.

Swimming on Madeira: Madeira is not known for its beaches. However there are two man made beaches of lovely yelow sand imported from Morocco. One is at Calheta to the West about 40 minutes away by car and the other is at Machico to the East about 30 minutes away by rapid bus from Funchal City Centre.

At the Hotel de Penha da Franca about a 10/15 minute walk from Quinta Elena there are two swimming pools - one down by the sea and one in the garden. There is also access to the sea as well. The usual daily fee is €14 but our clients can enjoy these facilities for €10 per day on Sundays and Bank/Religious holidays or €7.50 per day on other days during the week.

A charming spacious, well furnished two/three bedroom villa sleeping 3/4 people with a balcony and lovely patio/garden. It is set in an extremely convenient location close enough to walk easily downhill into Funchal City Centre and near to the Harbour & Santa Catarina Park. Shops & restaurants are all within an easy walk as is the ferry to the lovely island of Porto Santo, famous for its long stretch of fantastic sandy beach. Buses travel in all directions and there are bus stops very close by, including the stop to Camara De Lobos - the lovely little fishing village so loved by Sir Winston Churchill. One of the most popular attractions in Funchal is the cable car which will take you up the hill to Monte which offers outstanding views of the city/harbour. The Monte Palace Gardens should be visited whilst you are here and then you take the world famous basket ride down the hill to Funchal. The Casino is a also famous for its restaurant and nightly shows and this is a short walk away.

Golf: There are two golf courses on the Island - soon there will be three. At the nearest one Palheiro we have arranged for a 20% discount to apply for any day passes required.

Notes

  • The above rates are in £Sterling and are inclusive of being met at the airport by taxi at the owners expense and taken to the house(but not in reverse).

    The weekly rental costs are based on up to three people using the four poster room and the single bedroom. A fourth person can be accommodated using the day bed in the upstairs studio room at the cost of £80 per week(£100 for Christmas/New Year) - (if a party of three people wish to sleep separately and use this bed there will be a supplementary linen charge of £30 per week).

    Returnable damage/cleaning deposit of £200 required to be held.

    Linen & towels supplied. Fresh linen/towels for each additional week if staying longer than one week.

    Internet/broadband connection available - must be booked in advance ( €15/£13 per week). Laptop not supplied

    It is possible to take extra days over the first week and these will be charged on a pro-rata basis

    30% booking deposit - balance and damage deposit 6 weeks prior to entry
  • Our preferred option for returning this deposit is by PayPal. Please try to have access to a PayPal account. This is definitely the easiest and cheapest means of returning your deposit money.

Notes: Airport transfers can be arranged by private taxi direct to the house (approx €30) Swimming can be arranged at an open air pool of a nearby hotel with a discount voucher provided. Levada walks, island tours and garden visits can be arranged. As already mentioned all the prices quoted are for up the three people. A fourth person can be accommodated in the upstairs roof room at a weekly extra cost of £80. For bookings of two weeks or more there will be a change of linen and towels. For alfresco dining there is a pretty courtyard garden with patio furniture We need to hold a £200 returnable damage/cleaning deposit. This will be returned by cheque as soon as possible following the housekeeper's inspection. Adjacent to the villa is a one/two bedroom completely separate ground floor apartment to sleep 2/3 people. A very pleasant stay, and the fact that the weather was quite mixed made us enjoy the space and comfort of the house even more. We had many lovely breakfasts on the upstairs terrace! The ´Quinta´is beautifully equipped and very nicely situated - we would definitely like to return one day!

Period house in good neighbourhood close to town.

We stayed at Quinta Elena for a week at the end of November 2010. We had a very good time there. The house is very well appointed and was in a quiet neighbourhood near the Casino, 10 mins walk from central Funchal. The courtyard garden is very well kept and the two terraces accessed from first & second floor are excellent for the sun. Also for less sunny days, the top floor sun room was very good too. The place was spotless and all facilities provided. In short, we would definitely return. We did not rent a car during our stay. We are a couple without children but I think the property would be suitable for a family also.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
