Very private cottage on 17 acres of forest. With miles of forest to hike and explore. Wildlife abounds, with deer and wild turkeys frequently coming to visit. One bedroom, one full bath, one sleeping loft. Sleeps 2 adults 2 children or 3 adults. Large deck and a full kitchen. Very secluded and quiet, but close to amenities, 35 miles from Spokane and 12 miles from Newport, WA a quaint, small northwest logging town. Several restaurants, a grocery store, sporting goods, hardware stores and movie theater can be found in Newport.
We are a (he) Firefighter and (she) Nurse. With grown children. We love the forest and wanted to own a bit for ourselves.
Ken purchased this cottage in 1996
We always wanted to own a secluded piece of forest someplace. We have family in the region and chose the Newport area because of the unspoiled, 'untouristy' nature of the area. We built this cottage ourselves while commuting to it 800 miles. It took 4 years to complete.
We chose to buy this particular piece of land because of the unique quality of easy access by paved all weather maintained road but still secluded in the forest (you can see no other home from ours) It is covered mostly by large mature pine and fir trees
This cabin is really nice and great way to enjoy the wildlife and seclusion around while still enjoying small amenities of home. The country was beautiful there are lakes and plenty of hiking trails we had so much fun. There is plenty of wildlife to enjoy.
My husband and I stayed for the second time in this charming cottage. The listing description and photos accurately portrayed the property, and the cottage was clean and well-maintained.
The kitchen is well-stocked with basic ingredients and cookware. My husband discovered the cast-iron skillet, and has decided we need one for our kitchen.
The cabin's decor is warm and inviting, with a touch of whimsy. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and family. We will likely stay here again.
There are two restaurants in nearby Newport that serve good food, at good prices, and with good service. They are Audrey's Restaurant on Highway 2, and Rancho Alegre on North Washington.
The cabin was exactly as described, looked exactly as pictured. If someone wants a five star cabin, this is it. The bathroom and everything was exceptionally clean-a big deal to us. The bed was comfortable; the kitchen had everything to fix some of our meals. We stayed the week while vacationing and visiting family. The views are beautiful; it's close to Diamond Lake and less than 30 minutes from Spokane restaurants and stores. We saw dear every day driving to and from the cabin. We so appreciate the cabin owners and managers. It was a great stay for us.
The fact that the cabin is close to several towns is a plus. The beauty surrounding the cabin is breathtaking. I saw a baby fawn close to the cabin and took pictures while the mom was grazing. The people who helped me were friendly and non pretentious. The accommodations are great, easy to use and so relaxing. I'd stay again....
I've been working on two huge projects for the last two years and needed a place to disappear and unwind for a week. This was definitely and excellent choice. The owners put a lot of love into this place, you can tell. It's very homey. The weather was only good two of the six days so I mostly relaxed, read, played my guitar and wrote a little music. When I need privacy and quiet, I'll most certainly go back.
My wife and I spent 7 days at the cottage and it was absolutely wonderful as far as cleanliness, amply supplied with all ones essentials (and more), as well as great location being close to major highway (U.S. 2) and all sorts of sightseeing adventures. We truly had a fantastic stay. Only thing that was a little different is that there was no contact attempted to be made with us by the owners or property manager to see if everything was in order (which it was).....a phone call would have been nice!
Located minutes from the undiscovered logging town of Newport, WA. Take in a movie at the Roxy Theater, or check out the Museum in the old railroad station. Shop on a small town main street that's not full of tourist traps. Have lunch at Owens Deli, an honest to goodness small town store with soda fountain! In the fall there is the not to be missed Lions Train ride along the Pend Orielle river. Sandpoint, ID is 40 miles away and if you want big city amenities, Spokane, WA is 35 miles away. Go 3 miles west and you are at Sacheen Lake, Go 3 miles Southeast and there is Diamond Lake. You are surrounded by pine forest on all sides.
