Casa del Legionario is a two bedroom village house in Ardales with full bathroom and balcony leading from the bedroom. Downstairs there is the sitting room with sofa bed, kitchen, shower room and a shaded Mediterranean style patio. There are steps leading up to the sunny roof terrace which has wonderful views over the surrounding mountains. The casa is situated at the top of the village of Ardales, just under the huge rock where the ruins of a Medieval castle can be visited. The village has plenty of tapas bars and restaurants. Two banks and two swimming pools which are open in the summer months. It is an ideal spot whether you want to relax and unwind in the beautiful Spanish countryside or prefer a more active holiday. Ideal base for touring, walking, biking, climbing, bird watching etc, Or just relax and enjoy.
Thank you very much for your kind hospitality during our stay here, little touches like tea and cofee make all the difference.
Your house is comfortable and felt very homely, we really appreciated that.
The area is wonderful, breathtaking views and wonderful lakes to swim in, what more can you ask.
The village was very welcoming and everywhere we went people made an effort to help us-- non Spanish speakers !
Lovely place for a relaxing holidays. Very close to major atraction locations such as El Chorro, Lakes, Historic places (Ronda, Antequera, Teba, Malaga etc) and natural Parks (El Torcal) and the Caves Ardales (it is worth a visit). The village is very friendly. Thanks for everything.
This property was our 2nd on a little tour from Seville to Malaga. Both were described as budget but Casa Del Legionario was much more. The house is much more than it looks from outside. Mary had provided everything that you could want - all the little things that make you feel at home. There were lots of provisions to make meals if you had just bought the basics. There were lots of useful items such as cool bags, parasols etc.The house was clean and we wished we had more time to stay longer.
The village itself was very friendly and had numerous restaurants. At our favourite place, despite only understanding about 4 words of each others language, we were very well looked after with genuine warmth.
The area is lovely with some very impressive views. We had gone to Ardales to walk and ended up in beautiful places all to ourselves. The house and village are very well located for easy access to the lakes and surrounding hills,
It was helpful to have Mary meet you on arrival as she is very knowledgeable about the area
If you want a cosy little place in a convenient location for exploring the area this is it
mary had a wounderful week at your casa, the vllage and the people and all the places we visited just made our holiday, many thanks.the veiws from the terrace are fantastic
We were looking for a typical mountain Spanish Village for a reflecting and relaxing week and found in Ardales in your little House "casa del Legionario" the place. For relaxing on the Terrace, for wandering in the beautiful spectacular nature and not least the very friendly Village, where everybody always meet you with a friendly “Hola”. In the very Spanish bars and on the streets!
Also thank you for your flexibility helping us getting around in the region when we did not have a car.
Thanks Jette and Ole
The 'pueblo' of Ardales is a typical Andalucian whitewashed mountain village. The village plaza buzzes with life and local families sit out enjoying a drink with friends late into the summer evenings. The village has a selection of shops, banks, bars, restaurants and two swimming pools. Ardales is situated at the edge of Ardales National Park which is one of Spain's best kept secrets. The park consists of a series of turquoise lakes set in magnificent mountain scenery ideal for hiking, climbing, mountain biking, swimming, fishing, bird watching etc.. Close by is the famous El Chorro gorge and the Ardales caves. Also the village of Carratraca with it´s Roman baths and authentic Bull ring.
This is the real Spain, yet only 40 minutes from the beaches of the Costa del Sol. The historic town of Ronda is approximately 45 minutes drive away and the great cities of Seville, Granada and Cordoba are all under 2 hours drive
