Hello

My name is Ailsa and this is a photo of Joanne and myself (in black) at the front door of the cottage. I look after the bookings and your pre/post-arrival and Joanne looks after the housekeeping side of our beautiful cottage. Joanne 'loves' the cottage like her own. I live in Australia, but was born in Scotland. Both my brother and mother live in St Andrews and so it makes sense to own a property in the town where my family can keep an eye on it.

Ailsa Wilson purchased this cottage in 2012

We bought this property because we love the town of St Andrews - it holds a special place for us, as we were married there, and held our wedding reception at the Old Course Golf and Country Club. It is also very special to own, as it brings us closer to family living there.

I love our cottage because it is just so cosy and so completely central to everything you could want from the town of St Andrews. It's age gives it history, and stories yet to unfold!

PERFECT LOCATION FOR GRADUATION

  • 5 out of 5
Loved everything about the cottage, nice kitchen and living area with sun porch and garden. We hosted family and friends for graduation and could not have had a better location. Ailsa was easy to communicate with and made sure all our needs were taken care of. Hope to return some day!

GREAT PLACE FOR GOLFERS!

  • 4 out of 5
This cottage is in a great location, near the Old Course and other attractions as well as plenty of shopping and restaurants within short walking distance. It was comfortable with all of the items the listing indicated. One of the beds needed to have the linens cleaned when we arrived but otherwise the place was clean and ready for use. I recommend this property for golfers or anyone else looking to spend some time in this lovely town!

WE'RE SO GLAD WE FOUND THIS ST ANDREWS COTTAGE!

We're so glad we found this St Andrews cottage!

We three, senior, active (golfers & hikers), Canadian couples had the pleasure of staying four nights at this delightful cottage. The listing description and previous reviews say it as it is. We loved it all and owner Ailsa was very accommodating and responsive to our inquiries. A car is not necessary as great shopping, historical sites, university, golf and restaurants are all close bye. The bedrooms aren't huge but beds were very comfortable and area was quiet for sleeping. We spent a lot of time enjoying the conservatory and sitting out in the sunny backyard. The house easily accommodated the six of us. We recommend and we hope to return. Thank you to Ailsa

PERFECT ST ANDREWS COTTAGE

  • 5 out of 5
I cannot speak highly enough of this rental property, and we have stayed in many around the world. We stayed here for a week over Xmas with our family of 4 (including two large teenage children). As the weather wasnt great, and it was Xmas, we wanted to be indoors quite a bit, and this cottage was perfect in every way. Its very charming, clean, and extremely well equipped. We managed to cook some very sophisticated meals over Xmas and enjoyed them in the middle of winter in the toasty conservatory. When we had a minor problem with some lights, the owner's brother came promptly to our rescue, and the owner was always on hand on the email to answer any queries. The position could not be better - its quiet, but extremely central with everything you could want within a few minutes walk (in fact I wouldnt bother going to the larger supermarket a bit further out as the main street has Sainsbury's and Tescos) and then there are fabulous specialty shops (especially the lovely cheese shop and great fish monger and excellent butcher). We loved Mitchell's too (coffee shop come restaurant come gourmet deli). This is also extremely close to all the main attractions of St Andrews - we walked to everything even though we had a car. There are no pictures of the bathroom but they are great. Also there is no parking outside but there is free parking very close by and plentiful. Loved everything about this place and would happily recommend to anyone - a real gem.

Owner's Response: Thank you for reviewing our property at 84 North Street. I am very pleased you found the cottage so well equipped. Sometimes, it is difficult to know if you are providing the correct resources for holiday guests. I am impressed with the sound of your culinary skills and pleased your Christmas was filled with fun in the kitchen and warm too! I should have told you about the Farm Shop also just on the way out of St Andrews on the road to Leuchars (next time!). They do great meringues! You do need a car to get there. Haste ye back! Ailsa

The charming medieval town of St. Andrews has much to offer its visitors. It is the home of golf as well as the oldest University in Scotland. It has a fascinating history, beautiful beaches and walks and excellent restaurants. It really is an idyllic location for enthusiastic golfers or a base to explore the east coast of Scotland.

St Andrews is a town meant for exploring. The medieval layout of the town centre remains intact, with the main shopping areas concentrated in Market Street and South Street, with Bell Street and Church Street connecting the two principal streets. Take time to explore - on foot - and take pleasure at the surprises and delights you will find.

St Andrews holds a special place in Scotland's history. It takes its name from the Apostle whose relics, legend tells us, were brought to this place in antiquity by St Rule. Scotland later adopted St Andrew as her patron saint and took his salt ire cross for her flag.
