This charming 1940s bungalow sits on a huge fenced lot. You will love the cozy feel of the home, and your kids and pets will love the yard. Our guests have described it as a "Delightful Cottage", a "Perfect Retreat" and a "Fantastic Getaway". We agree, and we often use it when it's unoccupied. It is well appointed with fluffy towels, high quality sheets, and two of the most comfortable beds you will ever experience. We received so many nice comments about them that we bought identical ones for our other rentals.

Our guests love the roomy interior, the hardwood floors, the well stocked kitchen and the big screened back porch. The yard is full of mature trees, and there is plenty of wood for the fire pit. There are a lot of vintage features in the house and everything is in good working order. It's convenient to I-40, and you can get just about anywhere in town in 15 minutes or less.

This home is located across from a convenience store on a fairly busy street. Mike, the proprietor, is incredibly friendly and helpful, and he is a great resource if you need something or if you have questions about the area. It's so convenient to walk across the street for snacks and supplies! The store closes at 10 and things are quiet and peaceful at night.

Vintage Charmer With Room to Roam

First, don't let the seemingly random location and gas station/convenience store across the street scare you away. If you do, you're missing out on a fantastic opportunity to have plenty of space (including a HUGE corner lot, fabulous screened-in back porch, and spacious front porch) for two couples (or a family) to spread out and relax. You'll quickly realize that there's little need to get back on the Interstate. Sandhill Road (where the house is located) leads to funky and fun West Asheville, and from there, it's an easy drive (no highway) to the River Arts District and downtown. Sure the house has its quirks. That's what you get with a vintage home. If fancy granite and stainless steel appliances are what you're after, then this house, and Asheville, aren't for you. Oh, and the convenience store across the street is a huge plus. The people are super-friendly. It's locally owned, and closes at 10 p.m. (so no late-night noise). And, it's an easy walk for your morning cup of coffee. INSIDE TIP: If you have mobility issues, this is a fantastic property. There is a wheelchair ramp (my husband uses a wheelchair and walker) to the front porch, and all rooms are on one floor. You will have to navigate a slight incline on the walk from the driveway gate to the front steps or the ramp.

My husband, I and our 3 golden retrievers were very happy with the accommodations. It was great to have a fenced in back yard for the dogs to run and play in. The home is well maintained and very comfortable. It is close to stores and major highways for traveling. And the gas station/ convenience store across the street was very handy to get gas and a hot cup of coffee.

Location

Located near the Buncombe County Sports Park, this West Asheville property is convenient to I-40 and is just a quick drive to the heart of West Asheville. Asheville is a small city, so any location within the city limits provides convenient access to downtown and other attractions like the Biltmore House, the Folk Art Center, local brew pubs, mountain biking trails, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Pisgah National Forest. All of these are no more than fifteen minutes away.
