Tim Zimmermann purchased this house in 1996
If you live in the Washington DC region and want to spend time on the water, there is no place more beautiful than the Chesapeake Bay. My family loves to fish, boat, swim, and crab, and a week (or even a weekend) relaxing at Bear Neck Creek House is the best getaway we can imagine.
I spent many years sailing the Chesapeake Bay, but when I first saw this house I knew I had to move there. The house is simple yet open, full of light, and comfortable. The access to the water is unbeatable, the open Chesapeake Bay is just around the corner, and the Rhode River just off the house opens up into a bay that offers everything from daysailing to quiet paddling. There is always something fun and interesting to do on the water, and ospreys and crabs to keep you company. What I especially love is the quiet of the sunrise, and the perfect light of the sunsets.
The house is beautifully located right on the bay. But what was great about it is the owner (I Don't know if you suppose to reveal the name in a review). You can feel his presence in every corner especially in the beautiful study. He communicated with us on a regular basis and we complemented him for his world renown work. As beautiful as Annapolis is, the house may be used for day trips to Washington DC a 45 minute drive. If you travel with children, there is a 6 Flags Park only 20 minutes away. Kitchen is well equipped and we had plenty of sheets and towels.
A charming comfortable home and the most generous accomadating host is what we found at Tim's home. We really felt like guests, not renters. The house is on the water and the views are beautiful. We had plenty of room but also space to be alone with our thoughts. Plenty of towels, sheets and kitchen ware is what made us feel like guests. Who ever gets the master bathroom is the luckiest one. Giant bathroom with jacuzzi tub, shower, sauna, writing desk etc. Loved it. Hope to come back
Our second time at the house. It works perfectly for us for a family get-together. We will be back.
We rented this house with two other families for a long weekend. All of us had kids, from infant to five years old, and this place was absolutely perfect for them! Lots of indoor space to spread out meant that a rainy day was no big deal, and the spacious backyard and playground was great when it did stop raining. The view was absolutely stunning. Easy drive to Annapolis for a football game and sightseeing. Owner was prompt with communication and made sure everything was set up before our arrival. Would absolutely love to rent this place again!
It was an amazing time on the property. My friends and i rated it THE BEST SO FAR if you want to escape and enjoy the amazing view of the Chesapeake and wake-up to the river breeze. I will recommend it anytime for a beautiful escape.
We had a great time and hope to return. The place was great for our family, very spacious, so we could spread out. Everything was as described on the website. Our group consisted of grandparent, parent and young adults. We fished, crabbed, kayak and swam in the pool. The owner was extremely friendly and very helpful with area attractions.
