Carla Frazine purchased this cabin in 2011
Hohman Lake is a quiet, peaceful lake. The lake is restricted to property owners and their guests. Boats can't have motors with over 6 hp to avoid disrupting the relaxing atmosphere that is present.
Our favorite features of the cabin are the large, outdoor spa and the multi-level deck. Star gazing while sitting in the spa is a must. We believe our cabin has the best view of the entire lake!
My husband and I wanted a quiet and relaxing weekend getaway and we got exactly that! The cabin is beautifully decorated and up to date, but the view is absolutely perfect. A little piece of heaven! We will definitely be returning. I almost hate to share this place with anyone else!
It's so close to the perfect get-away. When we walked in, we were very pleasantly surprised with how nicely decorating and organized the place is, and it immediately makes you feel like you're home. We did have an issue on our first night there, however, that others at least need to be aware of. The house is part of a lake homeowner's association, and everyone else that lives on the lake are the homeowners. On our first day there, we got out our kayaks and fishing poles because we knew it was supposed to rain the rest of our 2-night, 3-day vacation. As I was out on the lake in a kayak by myself (the kids had went inside), one of the neighbors came out in a fishing boat and started harassing me telling me that we were not welcome there and that he was going to call the sheriff on us. He went on and on and on and persisted until I had to get out of the lake and go inside. I went from the most relaxed I'd been in a year to having very high blood pressure. My husband and I were both unable to relax after that, and my husband even suggested leaving because he didn't feel safe. With that said, I notified the homeowner, and she did ALL the right things (minus offer a refund for the hassle we went through). She called the association President, and he, the Sheriff, and I think even her husband went to pay the neighbor a visit. Even though she reacted the way we would've wanted her to and it did take some of our worry away, it still ruined our first day and night of our very short vacation. With that said, please let me list the positives: the property and lake are very peaceful and relaxing; the screened in porch was delightful, and even though it rained our entire second day, we sat out on the porch, read, drank hot tea in the morning, and relaxed while watching the storm; the hot tub was also relaxing and a nice extra; the grill is in good shape, and there are 2 fire pits that can be used for sitting around and/or making Smore's (the owners even have extra wood there); the house is equipped with almost everything you need and is clean; and the property is 10 minutes from Paducah, which gives you something to do if you need to get out or want to experience something else that's new. Truly the only reason we didn't give it a 5-stars was because of the run-in with the neighbor. Unfortunately, that's a pretty big issue though. The owner did say that has only happened twice in the past year. Just be prepped just in case. We WOULD go back though!
This lovely house is about 3 hours from stl. The house and the lake are just devine. We did not leave one time. The hot tub is so soothing, a little more privacy would be nice but we were fine. The interior of the house is decorated so cute. My only real critique of the cabin is that if you LOVE to cook, like I do, bring your own supplies. There were no real cutting knives and I could not find a cutting board. Other than that I would recommend this cabin to anyone, it was delightful.
This is a wonderful place inside and out! We loved everything and couldn't have asked for more! The views were perfect for reading a book and relaxing which we needed and the house was just beautiful! Thank you so much! We will be back!
The cabin exceeded our expectations! It was very well kept, decorated nicely, the view and privacy are amazing...we had a marvelous time!
We thought the cabin was absolutely serene, quiet, and a beautiful oasis! It was more than we had hoped for. We would recommend this cabin to anyone that wants a little piece of heaven! You have done a wonderful job! Thanks for sharing it!
We would like to invite you to stay in our relaxing lakeside retreat. My husband and I bought this property in 2011. We love to stay at the lake with our family and friends and wanted to share the experience with others. Hohman Lake was built in 1963 and has many full time and occasional residents. Located only 15 minutes from Paducah, KY and Metropolis, IL it allows guests to enjoy the shopping, restaurants and entertainment available in the city as well as the beauty of Southern Illinois. This place is the perfect family retreat or romantic getaway.
Some of the activities in the surrounding areas include Harrah's Riverboat Casino, the Superman statue and Superman museum and Fort Massac State Park all in Metropolis, IL. We are also within easy driving distance to the Southern Illinois wine trails. Historic downtown Paducah, KY is known for it's riverfront with large paintings reflecting on the history of Paducah, excellent restaurants, art galleries and many shops. Kentucky Oaks Mall and it's surrounding stores and restaurants are also close by.
