THE TREEHOUSE, PET FRIENDLY, OPEN GULF , PRIVATE DOCK

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday home in Cedar Key - The TreeHouse

Accommodations: The TreeHouse is a spacious two bedroom stilt home with a king size bed in the master bedroom with a ½ bath and two additional single beds in the second bedroom. It sleeps 4 to 5 comfortably with a roll away tucked under one of the single beds in case you need it. This property has a nicely done kitchen, a shower for two in the main bath, and is very airy and light. The Kitchen is ready to use with complete sets of dishes, pots and pans, silverware, stove, microwave, coffee pot and utensils and a local grocery store can provide what you need. A washer and dryer combo is in the kitchen. Linens and towels are provided also. Cable is provided as well as Wi-Fi. Two porches look out over the water and the front porch was literally built around two oak trees, hence the name TreeHouse.

Spectacular views of the gulf, especially at sunset are seen from both the dining and living rooms or enjoy it from the front porch while sitting in one of two canvas swing chairs or laying in the relaxing canvas hammock which hangs from the ceiling. A boat dock out back on the canal allows fisherman to keep their boats in the water, but watch the tides to ensure enough water flow to get out to the gulf when ready to fish. This property is located on a commercial fishing/clamming canal in the back as well as the Gulf of Mexico in the front making it a unique property in a one-of-a-kind town. Like to fish but didn’t bring a boat, you can fish and crab right from our dock or join others on the new huge fishing dock downtown. Crab traps are on the dock, just remember to bring them in from the water when you go! We are also pet friendly with a small extra fee to accommodate your best friend. Covered parking is available under the second porch and the property can handle multiple cars.

The walk to town and the city’s beach is a leisurely 20 minutes along picturesque streets. Some guests rent golf carts in town to explore the entire island. The natural beauty of Cedar key and its slow pace allow visitors to feel what old Florida must have been like years ago allowing for very restful vacations. Whether you are here to just relax, sit and read a book, kayak, fish or just to enjoy the diverse wildlife, The TreeHouse can accommodate you comfortably.

Cedar Key hosts several festivals during the year so get your reservations early if you plan to attend one as the town fills up fast on those weekends. Special events include the Seafood Festival in October, the Art Festival in April, the Small Craft Boat Festival, the ClamAmerica celebration on the 4th of July and a kayak festival in September.

Friendly community, great accomodations!

Be ready to wave! No one passes you without a greeting in this friendly town-Even the UPS driver! Home has everything and was very clean! The dogs loved being on the gated front porch with us. It is very evident the owners take much pride in decorating, cleanliness and making sure all is provided for an enjoyable stay.
We put our boat in at the City Marina each day paying the $12.00 launch fee each time. We fished around Atsena Otie Key and Snake Key and caught trout for dinner. Fun to catch and release lots of jacks, ladyfish, and not so fun catfish and sting rays. We had planned on leaving the flats boat in the canal water at the Treehouse dock, but there was not enough water to float it. As a neighbor told us, there is,' at best 5 hours of navigable water a day in this area.'

Escape to paradise!!!

  • 5 out of 5
Visiting Cedar Key was just what I needed! The Treehouse was equipped with everything you could think of needing and more, and we felt at home from the start. The friendly neighbors are around if you need them, and leave you in peace if you prefer that, too. The 2 porches are where we spent most of our time, if not on the dock in the back yard. The dock was great for fishing or catching some sun.

Perfect getaway for those who want to unplug and unwind, shopping for those who want it, and great food at Tony's and Annie's! Bring your bicycle and enjoy the mornings as we did cruising the island. There's so much to do, or do nothing at all.... you'll enjoy yourself either way.

I highly recommend the Treehouse and Cedar Key! We will be back. Thank you to Bill for sharing his great home with us!

Awesome house with great views!

  • 5 out of 5
The treehouse has everything for a wonderful, relaxing stay. Fully stocked kitchen, nice grill on screened porch. The house is big, comfortable and has everything you will need while in Cedar Key. We rented a golf cart and it's a nice drive from the house to dock street. The dock out back provided hours of fun catching crabs! Our dogs loved hanging out on the porches with us. After 2 long days of scalloping it was nice to come "home" and the treehouse gives you that feeling for sure. The view is amazing too! Tips: Don't leave without having Tony's Chowder, it really is the best chowder I've ever had! Don't forget your bug spray, it will ruin your fun outside! Don't miss breakfast at Ken's Seaside Diner, the crunchy french toast was outstanding! Thanks Bill for your help and tips too, the reds eluded us but we will be back for sure!

Owner's Response: Your review makes my mouth water. Fresh blue crabs off the dock and fresh scallops it's a wonderful world when you feast on your harvest. Thanks for your tips Cedar Key offers lots of menu items and now you can get Tony's clam chowder at Publix. The TreeHouse View is burned into my mind but I'm humbled every time I'm there. I look forward to your return.

Tree hugger

  • 5 out of 5
We came to cedar key for the coldest winter ever! The treehouse was completely warm and cozy. While there we visited the neighbors and bought fresh clams, met an incredible cat whisperer, ate the best clam chowder at tonys, and delicious quiche at Kona joes. We kayaked, hiked and toured the fabulous state park and historical society buildings. Everyday there was something interesting to do. Be sure to visit the Suwanee. The house itself is well appointed and comfortable. Bill, the owner, is very friendly and concerned about his renters well being. It was a fabulous and relaxing month. We loved Cedar Key.

The best place ever!!!!!

  • 5 out of 5
It's July the 6th and we just got home from the best place to stay ever!! The Treehouse in Cedar Key. We had the best and most relaxing time. Plenty to do. We would look at our watches and couldn't believe how fast the days go by although the pace is very laid back.
Wonderful naps and a lot of things to do. Best breakfast was at Annie's hands down. We caught crab from the back and had them with our grilled steaks one night…delicious. The place was more than we expected and extremely well kept and clean. It was like being in your own home. Thanks to Bill for all of his help and we'll definitely be back!!!

Owner's Response: Blue crab will go with about anything. It's cool when nature feeds you. Thanks for the Annie's tip, it is a great place for lunch too. The July 4th holiday is hot but otherwise a fun time to be in Cedar Key. Thank you for the kind and thoughtful comments about the TreeHouse. Looking forward to your families return visit.

Locals told us to keep it secret, but, OLD FLORIDA STILL LIVES!!! Shhhh!

  • 4 out of 5
We stayed in the treehouse for a week. Not long enough. Not a single need in this house, but more time.
There is a gate to keep most dogs on the porch for no worries. But we have a little Houdini. Not much holds him back!
We ate fresh crabs we caught off the private dock. We fished 100 feet from the front door & 20 feet from the back. Our 5&9 year olds rode their scooters on the dead end road. We are an adventurous family. However, we live in a mountainous area where  we can find plenty to do. When we go on vacation, we want just that, a vacation. Cedar Key is perfect! Even my 2girls love the slower pace of the town. There is enough to do for daily entertainment, but nowhere as noisy as a tourist trap style beach. Not one rude encounter all week, even with a run to Walmart. No feeling like you need to clutch your belongings either.
Our Recommendations:
THE BIG DECK - shrimp basket
TIDEWATER tours
TONY'S - clam chowder
EITHER take or rent a golf cart!!!! Or bikes.
WATCH the tides! Some things are better high, some are better low.
EXPLORE - This was our second trip, & we found tons we missed before. I'm sure next time we'll find more we missed yet again.
