While I was living in The Cottage (VRBO.com/384587) I noticed The Victorian three blocks away was in foreclosure. I love old houses! After seeing the monumental overhaul it needed, saying a few prayers, and talking to family and friends, I bought it...and was instantly overwhelmed!
First project: Put in a huge deck in back--the beautiful views kept me inspired during the long rehab. And now it's all finished and worth every bit of the TLC it required. Hopefully it blesses my guests as well!
Deborah purchased this house in 2007
Thank you so much! We enjoyed our stay! It was so nice to have a family-friendly place. The accommodations were great--fully furnished w/ laundry included! :)
We recently visited petersburg to take our young children to the creation museum. We decided to stay at the Victorian home. We traveled with our friends and their young children. The home was lit when we arrived late and the kids quickly settled in. Morning came and they quickly realized the space. They named the upstairs "the house upstairs" and "the house downstairs" made making meals easy! The view of the river was nice and they were excited to see the barges as they made their way down stream. The home was very clean and well kept. Would recommend this home to travelers in the area. Looking forward to when the ark is complete to bring our families back.
We stayed in the Victorian while visiting the Creation Museum. We were very pleased with the entire experience. We were a group of 4 adults and 15 children (ranging in age from 4 weeks to 10 years) and though it was a lot of work, it was a blessing have the Victorian to have as our home base. It was nice enough to be excited about yet not too fancy to constantly be in fear of having a toddler break something. And, it was just a fun, hilly, short ride away from the museum!!! Thanks!
Our stay at the Victorian couldn't have been better! It definitely was a home away from home for us. The comforts of home were amply supplied and we felt completely relaxed during our stay. Those who stayed with us actually thanked ME, the trip coordinator, for finding such nice lodging. But I really can't take the credit. Deborah and her crew have gone above and beyond to find ways to make their home the best place to stay in Kentucky. Now that we've been thoroughly spoiled, my only wish is that her guesthouses are located in other places around the world. Thank you so much for making our time in Kentucky so pleasant!
We had three families (9 people total) staying for two nights. It was a clean, had get layout for all of use to hang out together but also get away. We have a 21 month old and there are two booster/high chairs seats there (this was not listed on the site), that was very helpful. The one room upstairs with two daybeds was a little disappointing. The one bed just has a mattress on a wood platform that pulled out. The other could pop up to make a large bed but it was not the same height and we had a really hard time getting it to pop up, we didn't trust it to not fall down, so my husband and I had to sleep in separate beds. However, over all we loved the house. The view was wonderful. I would recommend it.
This is an exceptional old Victorian in a really cool little town. It was appropriately furnished for kids and adults alike. Everything was perfect. I'd like to go try other properties of the owners. Close to Creation Museum.
