About Deborah

While I was living in The Cottage (VRBO.com/384587) I noticed The Victorian three blocks away was in foreclosure. I love old houses! After seeing the monumental overhaul it needed, saying a few prayers, and talking to family and friends, I bought it...and was instantly overwhelmed!

First project: Put in a huge deck in back--the beautiful views kept me inspired during the long rehab. And now it's all finished and worth every bit of the TLC it required. Hopefully it blesses my guests as well!

Deborah purchased this house in 2007

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wonderful Vacation Home

We had such a wonderful time at the Victorian this week. It's a great home away from home. They've done an excellent job making it clean and welcoming. We would definitely recommend it or stay there again.

All the comforts of home and a beautiful view.

  • 5 out of 5
We really enjoyed the stay at this house so much that it will be hard to stay at an ordinary hotel again! It was evident that the owner has put a lot of effort into making this as comfortable and pleasant stay as possible. Beautifully furnished and very clean, a very restful and relaxing retreat after a long day of sightseeing. Very close to the Creation Museum, which was our primary destination.

Unique, Spacious, Peaceful, Charming Lodging Option

  • 5 out of 5
A dynamic lodging spot. The Victorian is located in Petersburg, a small town along the Ohio River. Makes for a peaceful stay. The neighborhood is quiet. The house itself is ideal for large groups and a great place to rest after a day of Cincinnati area activities. There are multiple rooms that offer great privacy. Perfect location for Creation Museum visitors. My interactions with the owner were stellar. Deborah is very accessible, considerate, and a valuable resource in planning a trip.

Beautiful, relaxing place for two families visiting the Creation Museum and Cincinatti

  • 5 out of 5
We loved our stay at the Victorian and I hope we can come back some day. Deborah, the owner, was so wonderful to send us any information we needed about the house, the Creation Museum, and things to do around the area. Even though it rained most of our visit, we still had a great time.
As I already told the owner, she thought of everything when we furnished this house. My friend and I were impressed that she had make-up wipes in each bathroom. I loved getting to stay in an old home with so much character and yet being so comfortable. My family stayed on the bottom floor. Our three kids (10, 9, and 4) shared the front room which is huge. They slept great and had fun playing in their room. My husband and I had the other room downstairs with a queen bed. The bed was very comfortable and we had no problem sleeping- even though we are use to a King size bed. We had a small bathroom in our bedroom which was great. There is also a hall bathroom but our kids always used our bathroom. Our friends stayed upstairs with their teenage daughters. We all loved the sunroom upstairs. Since there is a full kitchen upstairs, we made one of our meals up there and ate out in the sunroom with the whole group. Most of the time, we cooked our meals in the downstairs kitchen and there was plenty of room to all eat together in the kitchen. We loved it. There is a huge deck right behind the kitchen over-looking the Ohio river. Because of the rain, we never got to eat out on the deck or grill, but we did get a lot of pictures of sunsets and loved watching the barges. There is also a nice room downstairs for all hanging out in together- a big table where you could play games and a T.V. with Netflix.
We took the walking tour around this little town and learned all about the history. We also spent a day at the Creation Museum. It is a very short drive to the Creation Museum. Driving from the Museum down to the house is a very curvy road so it seems a little longer when you first come in to the house. Also, this is a very, very small town. We are use to having everything very close- like grocery stores. There is a tiny little grocery store but it closes pretty early. Since we came in late our first night, we had to drive back up the curvy road and then to the next exit to get groceries. It might be a good idea to stock up before you get to the house. But overall, the location was perfect for visiting the Creation Museum and the setting was so beautiful!

STYLE AND COMFORT AT ITS BEST

  • 4 out of 5
The house was well furnished and comfortable. Loved the original wood floors and small town atmosphere. Great view of the Ohio River. We visited the Creation Museum, Cincinnati Zoo and King's Island Amusement Park. Deborah was a big help, responding quickly to all questions.

Our new home away from home!

  • 5 out of 5
Wonderful! We can't say enough about it! 9 of our family went and it was absolutely perfect. The view was peaceful and beautiful! Everything was thought of and the owner and maintenance man went above and beyond for us. As our 4 yr old said, "This is our second home!"
