The dining choices, poolside, inside or out under the stars at your table for six watching the sun slip down in the west. You are less than five minutes away from Cruz Bay and it's restaurants and entertainment. This villa is the final word in luxury, convenience and amenities.

Bordo Mare enjoys embracing returning guests at nearly 40% as they know and expect to be taken care of by our excellent staff who has continually looked after the same villa since completely.

About Mike Mullen

This is my third build. The last finished in 2009 - Sopra Mare at VRBO #251854 has proven so popular that I undertook another on the same 1.4 acre lot finished January 2014. It is slighly larger than the last with more amenities. Author of two books - 'Keep Left,' a 2008 comedy about the people I met while building my first villa Tesori. Also 'Flat Busted,' a 2014 fictional novel of high adventure set in the Caribbean. I currently reside in Aspen, Colorado and St. John with my significant other she's taller, smarter, younger beautiful nurse. Hey, at my age - you either get a nurse or a purse. I'm fortunate enough to get a nurse "with a purse!"

Why Mike Mullen chose Chocolate Hole

Well one night in 2000 I went to a charity event in Vail, Colorado. I drank way to much wine and bought two TV's, a $500 savings bond, a shotgun, pink Harley Davis Motorcycle and finally a trip to the Virgin Island! Sold the Harley to a long legged movie producer's wife before morning! Thank God! Fell in love with this lot and basically did nothing with it until 2008 when I started Sopra Mare.

What makes this villa unique

Views are 'killer' from the living, dining, massive decks and equal sized master bedrooms all face the ocean. Other places might have ocean views, but at Bordo Mare you are one with the sea. I have chosen 'Nana' type doors for these locations. Basically five panels that move totally to the right and provide an unobstructed panarama ocean view from every room. The pool deck is large, overlooking the infinity edge pool where there is additional seating around the in pool.

In the morning grab your coffee and take the one mile circuit for a gentle walk of the quiet neighborhood while you watch iguanas lazily move out of your path.

At night, you'll see the lights of St. Thomas and cruise ships moving slowly from right to left bound for their next island port. In the distance most nights, car lights on St. Croix are twinkling some 30 miles away. The low throated sound of tree frogs and gentle crash of surf below will lull you to sleep in your incredible duel master suites. You'll think you're in heaven rather than 'Bordo Mare' Edge of the Sea!

Bordo Mare is just perfect. Mike Mullen (the owner ) thought of everything in detail. The layout of the building is top notch, the views are unbeatable. It’s just my second day here and just keeps getting better. Went to Trunk Bay for the day, then returned ti Bordo Mare to enjoy the sunset while cooking dinner on a professional grill while my family was swimming in the pool right next the me. This place is heaven on earth.

Can't Beat the Views!

We just returned from a week in St. John and could not have picked a better house to stay in. The house was exquisite with huge balconies overlooking the ocean on the South Shore. There were unobstructed views from every room of the house. The house was well equipped with very nice furnishings and appliances. We really enjoyed the peacefulness of the house and the location was perfect for going into town at night for dinner. The owner made sure that we were happy with the place and was very quick to respond by email if we had any questions during booking. We would highly recommend this property if you are looking for a quiet and beautiful place to relax on St. John.

Wonderful STJ property and location!

This is our 9th year in a row coming to sunny St John. We have always stayed in villas around the island. This is by far our favorite spot. The villa has luxurious comforts from the bedding to the best Tommy Bahama beach chairs. Three different size coolers and beach bags are available to use as well. He has thought of every little detail. The fabulous breeze off the ocean is simply amazing. We will be returning to this amazing villa for many years to come. Thanks again Mulley!! :)

What a place. You will not be disappointed. Lots to do and see on St. John but always wanted to get back to the pool and patio. You don't have to leave the villa. Thanks to Mulley for all his help, he made everything easy.

A beautiful place to unwind

We have traveled all over the Caribbean, but we keep coming back to beautiful St. John and Bordo Mare. This house has everything we needed and the most magnificent views to melt away all of our stress. We woke up in the morning and had our coffee on the balcony to watch the fishing charters leaving the Westin and were hopeful to get a glimpse of the sea turtles sunning in the surf below. We also enjoy dinner at the wonderful outdoor dining table while watching the cruise ships pass by under the amazing sunsets. Can't wait to be back.

Just as advertised!

This villa is exactly as advertised. The house and furnishings are beautiful and everything is in excellent condition. The kitchen is well stocked, utensils and pots are like new and there is a wine cooler. There is a pool that includes a grill that worked perfectly...all of which overlook the ocean. Mulley has thought of everything. There 3 different size coolers, rafts and 4 Tommy Bahamas beach chairs(also in excellent condition) and even a spare propane tank...as I said he has thought of everything. The villa is convenient to Cruz Bay and the Starfish market(groceries and drug store) that has everything you will need...try Morgan's Mango and the Ocean Grill for dinner. Mulley gave us great advice on Jeep rental. We used Denzil Clyne who allowed us to park at their lot everytime we went into Cruz Bay....this is important because parking would have been difficult otherwise. We love this villa and when you deal with Mulley it is not just a transaction , you actually develop a friendship with him because he cares.

Best stay in St. John

We have stayed in St. John many times and by far Bordo Mare is the best villa we have stayed at. The views from the balconies are stunning. Mike provides binoculars on each floor so you can get a close-up view of the passing cruise ships or the huge yacht's that pass by the Villa. We loved it so much we booked a week next year before we even left.

Most mornings you will find walkers and joggers taking the approximate one mile circuit past out site from you. During the later part of March the International Rolex Regatta makes their turns nearly in front of the villa. You can hear the Captains as they shout orders.

Occasionally you will see turtles and whales just off the cliff as they swim by.
