I am retired from the corporate custom furniture business and now am a full time private investor. My wife and daughter are in the wholesale fashion industry representing fashion forward European lines. My wife will completely retire in the near future when our daughter is at the stage to take over that business.
We were originally attracted to the out islands as my wife's parents built a retirement home next door to our present location. We both fell in love with the Bahamas and have been coming here for over 40 years. We built next door to my in laws when the property came available and would still build here even if we had to do it all over again. It is well situated - perfect sunsets everyday which is important to us, good shoreline for a dock and boating and most important - great location for protection against hurricanes. To be doubly protective, we built a concrete block home that has stood the test of many a hurricane . We finished our home in 1991 and have been constantly upgrading it ever since.
We get up every day and look out over those waters and realize how incredibly lucky we are to be able to spend time is this amazing part of the world.
We find it harder to leave this place every year and all the original things that attracted us to the islands , attract us even more each year - the phenomenal natural beauty of the Abacos, those turquoise waters, boating, snorkeling, fishing,
the beaches and of course the local friends we have made. The island has grown up so much over the last 30 years , we do love our food and wine and we are now getting some great restaurants opening and we look forward to some wonderful meals with friends and family for years to come.
