An apartment in Provence style, totally renovated with beams and alcoves is on the third floor of small block of 4 flats. On the first level: a nice size bedroom with a double bed overlooking the provencal countryside; a bathroom with bath and shower; a separate WC and a spacious L shaped room comprising a living area and a dining area with a chimney and a well equipped American kitchen.

On the second level, 2 bedrooms, one of which is a spacious mezzanine with a double bed and with adjacent storage room and hanging space. The other bedroom (with a convertible sofa bed for 2 persons) is opening onto a terrace with a built in barbecue. From the terrace there is a beautiful view of the roof tops of Flayosc and the beautiful surrounding countryside.

*If you prefer to travel light we can provide you with lovely bed linen ,towels and duvets for 15€ per person.

The village: The delightful medieval village of Flayosc is typically Provencal with its large shady square, its fountains, old church, and rambling rooftops. It is the perfect location to relax and enjoy the beauty of Provence, far away from the busy tourist spots on the coast. There are innumerable cafes where you can sit on the terrace, sip a glass of local wine and watch the world go by! The village can provide everything one needs: excellent shops for food (bakeries, butcher, grocery and fruit/veg shops, etc), a weekly market with a great array of local produce, including olive oil, pharmacy, bank, several restaurants, laundry/dry cleaners and wine cooperative.(It also has a very good traiteur (delicatessen) who prepares excellent regional dishes, thus saving cooking at home! It is a village, which is a pleasurable in the winter months as it is in the summer. The hustle and bustle continues year round, whereas some beautiful little provencal villages tend to die out in winter.

The Area: Flayosc is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, and the countryside is very unspoilt with its woods, hills and wonderful views. There are excellent walks, with lots of wild flowers in the Spring and early Summer. The area has some wonderful picnic spots, one of which is beside a huge waterfall and river with shady banks - great for hot summer days! It can also be fun to rent bikes and explore on two wheels instead of four! There are many nearby villages to visit, all with something of interest. Also in the area are abbeys, chateaux, art exhibitions, antique fairs and flea markets, etc. The famous Gorges du Verdon, to the north, has the Lac de St Croix at their entrance. Also good for picnics and it is even possible to rent a pedaloe and go into the beginning of the Gorges! We leave information in the flat on places to go and to visit.

Access: The main south of France autoroute, A8, which runs from Italy to Avignon is only 15 minutes from Flayosc. This makes sightseeing easy, and you can visit Nice (one hour) with its great old town and its many good museums, galleries and shops. Cannes takes a bit less. Aix en Provence and |Marseille are about an hour away in the opposite direction. St. Tropez and sandy beaches are about 40 mins to the south, and the magnificent Gorges du Verdon and the lake St. Croix are about 40 minutes to the north. Italy is an easy day's outing and so are the various islands just off the coast by Toulon. Airports: Nice (one hour) or Marseille (a little over one hour). Rail Station: Les Arcs Draguignan.

WONDERFUL PLACE TO SET OUT FROM

The property is just as beautiful and immaculate as pictured. Updated facilities fulfilled all of our needs with the exception of a traditional oven. Beds, pillows, seating were all comfortable, and the terrace...well, as other tenants have stated, was fantastic, especially the brick oven, perfect for barbequing, and made up for the absence of one inside.
The owner and property manager were extremely accommodating and helpful, eager to answer all our questions about the apartment as well as the surrounding area and all it has to offer. Flayosc has everything you'll need, just outside the door.
We were in the South of France for two weeks (one week in the west, one in the east), and the weather was amazing. A quick thunderstorm one day, and brief morning showers on another. Remaining days were filled with the bluest of skies, thin and/or puffy clouds (if any at all), and temps around 80 to 85 degrees, with a constant not-too-cool breeze. Perfect!
While we were there, our top adventures included La Napoule (about 35 minutes) where the beach was amazing. Right next to Cannes' busier beaches, La Napoule is found in between a small marina and wonderful castle, grand mountains in the distance. Cannes was our one bigger city visit, and since it's so large, we didn't feel crowded at all.
We also visited Gorge du Verdon, can't overstate how remarkable a site this is, you may just have to experience the trail of huge mountains and sheer drops for yourself.
Our favorite town was definitely Tourtour...what a great surprise. It has all the bells and whistles: high hilltown village, great shops, quaint narrow streets that wrap around in an inviting maze, doorsteps abound with flowers and cacti.
One of our last days was spent in Ventimiglia Italy, just over the border, about an hour and a half away. Friday's open air market was the largest we've ever experienced, great selection of food, clothing, jewelry, etc. Other local chic shops and wonderful restaurants made this a great spot.
This region of France was much busier than we'd anticipated, yet we were more than able to create a vacation that suited our quieter lifestyle. Flayosc was a comforting place to call home as we set out and returned each day.

STAY IN FLAYOSC

Flayosc was a good centre to see the Var region with access to the Gorges de Verdon and the resorts on the coast such as St. Tropez (a car is essential). It is also good for local walks to experience the atmosphere of the Provencal countryside.

The appartment was comfortable and cool wih all the necessary amenities. It is just 2 minutes from the village centre with its cafes, restaurants and essential shops and buzzes with the local life without being overrun with tourists.

The listing descriptions were accurate, the property was clean, and the owner and local agent provided good customer service. I would recommend the property to anyone seeking to explore the area.

Nous avons séjourné quelques jours dans cet appartement en décembre 2010. Tout était en ordre, propre et conforme à l'annonce. La propriétaire est très sympathique et la dame qui s'occupe de la remise et de la reprise des clés a fait preuve d'une très grande disponibilité à notre égard.

TRUE PROVENCE!

If you are wanting to stay in a typical hilltop village in Provence and be absorbed into local life, then this rental will not disappoint. It has all the quirks and character you would expect of an apartment within a very old village house, but with the modern conveniences required for a good holiday. We spent two weeks here in June/July and loved the atmosphere of Flayosc and its perfect location - so very close to the main road links and all the popular visitor areas. The apartment is well maintained, well stocked and spacious, but the best thing has to be the wonderful rooftop terrace with its spectacular views over the countryside. Many happy hours were spent there, and in the Solarium, with a glass of wine in hand watching the swallows overhead! There are plenty of bars, shops and restaurants on the doorstep, along with a lovely weekly market and very friendly locals. The owner, Daniele, was extremely friendly and really couldn't have been more kind and helpful! A lovely trip!

The proximity of Tourtour 'the village in the sky', the Gorges du Verdon (with the lake de Ste Croix (23km), the lake de St Cassien makes Flayosc the ideal place for those who like water sports as well as beautiful sceneries.The proximity of the A8 motorway(17km) allows an easy access to the costal towns such as Cannes, Nice, Frejus, St Tropez. Flayosc is a lively village throughout the year.

  • The bedlinen as well as the furniture have been chosen carefully to enhance the Provencal and rustic style of the duplex . In the main bedroom there is a lovely pine wardrobe with hanging space, a large table with a granit top and a set of shelves in wrought iron . The bedroom on the mezzanine has a pine chest of drawers with 2 large draws for clothes and 2 small ones for personal belongings. The bedroom in the solarium with the 2 seater sofa bed has no storage facility but can use the ample storage provided in the room adjacent to the mezzanine.

Notes:
Children are welcome, however might not be suitable for children under 3/4 because of the steep winding stone staircase leading to the second level (See photographs) The flat is on the top 3rd floor with its private entrance which allows people to feel free to leave the door to the flat open allowing them to have access to a large cupboard for groceries, kitchens utensils......... and 2 landings to leave beach items etc...... On the mezzanine there is a door leading to a fairly spacious storing room with the washing machine,lots of room to store suitcases and other items, lots of shelves and hanging space for clothes. There is also a chest of drawers (see photograph) In the solarium/bedroom there is an electric shutter which allows you to sleep late in the morning or relax in the shade in the afternoon. On the terrace there is a built in barbecue with all the necessary equipment but the charcoal is not provided. From the terrace, every evening you can admire breathtaking sunsets.
