Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Rye - The Light House

Beautiful luxury cottage next to England’s finest beach close to historic Rye

For more details please visit www.besidetheseaholidays.com This luxurious 3 bedroom White Sand holiday cottage is just a couple of minutes walk to the Camber Sands beach, close to the medieval town of Rye in East Sussex, 1066 Country.

This holiday cottage in Camber Sands is equipped the with the guest's enjoyment, relaxation and comfort in mind with the spacious living areas that includes an enormous 50' plasma TV and games consoles along with many dvd's board games and books.

The large bright and sunny open plan kitchen-dining room is a great area to sit down with family and friends which opens up onto the decked garden equipped with fire pit, dining furniture and a BBQ - perfect for al fresco dining!.

All the bedrooms are located on the first floor and offer spectacular views over the surrounding Romney Marsh.

Camber Sands is an excellent base for your holiday on the coast of East Sussex. Whether you’re looking to enjoy the unspoilt beauty of the beach, enclosed by the picturesque dunes, exploring historic castles, medieval towns and country houses or keeping fit by cycling and walking or even kite and windsurfing, it’s all here on your doorstep.

Dogs love a big sandy beach – space to run around, sand dunes to explore, water to splash in, interesting smells to discover and plenty of other dogs to play with. So when you bring your four-legged friend to our holiday Cottage, it’s good to know that the incredible dog friendly Camber Sands beach is right on your doorstep. They will be in is doggy heaven!

Food lovers are well catered for, there’s something for everyone, from your typical seaside staples like fish and chips to the gourmet delights from some award winning local pubs and restaurants in Rye. If you fancy preparing your own meals in the well appointed kitchens of your holiday home then there’s a fantastic array of shops and Deli’s selling local produce and meats including Romney lamb to fresh fish caught by the Rye Bay fishing fleet as well as award-winning wines.

The Light House, Camber Sands is also the perfect location to visit London and all the famous attractions which we can get you 2 for 1 discounts

No stay is complete without visiting the medieval Cinque Port of Rye, home to many beautifully preserved historic buildings from medieval, Tudor and Georgian times including the medieval church and the Ypres Tower (castle). Rye's enchanting cobbled streets are lined with historic inns and restaurants as well as a host of unusual shops selling antiques, collectables, local produce and works by the town’s many resident artists and potters. The town plays host to many events throughout the year including the famous Rye Bay Scallop festival in February, the Arts Festival every September

Whatever the weather, it is difficult not to be seduced by the beguiling beauty of nearby Romney Marshes, almost as mysterious and lonely as they were in the 17th Century when smugglers swapped local wool for brandy from France. The 100-square-mile marsh encompasses tiny villages, ancient, secluded churches and The Rye Harbour Nature Reserve.

The historic seaside town of Hastings is only a few miles away, with its ancient churches, tiny narrow streets and the ruins of a castle built by William the Conqueror. When the weather is inclement there is The Blue Reef Aquarium and fantastic smugglers caves to visit. For history buffs, why not visit the site that on 14th October 1066 an army of invading Normans defeated the English at the Battle of Hastings. There you can stand on the very spot where King Harold was slain and the course of our history changed forever. You can explore the ruins of the atmospheric abbey, built by William the Conquer to commemorate the thousands who died. It is a great day out for the whole family, with a major new exhibition that uses film, computer technology and interactive exhibits to bring to life this bloodiest of conflicts.

Beautiful House in wonderful location

  • 5 out of 5
I stayed at The Lighthouse with family - husband and 2 children (3 and 5) in August and we had a fantastic time. The house is the perfect base for seeing the local area, only 5 minutes’ walk to Camber sands beach which is amazing and supplied hours of entertainment; walks, sandcastle building, balls games and paddling. We explored the local area visiting Tenterden (very pretty), Bodiam Castle (lovely), Herstmonceux Castle (we were lucky enough to be able to go on the day of the Medieval Re-enactment and several trips to the nearby town of Rye (gorgeous tea shops... lots of cake). As for The Lighthouse itself, it was PERFECT, roomy, light, airy, decorated tastefully and kept immaculately! Highly recommend! We will be coming back!

The garden really is a highlight for guests and the perfect spot to relax with a glass of wine! Haydens in Rye is very popular for all our guests and we are very lucky to have so many wonderful places to eat.

beautifully appointed – I really couldn’t fault it

  • 5 out of 5
Hi Richard

I had meant to email you to let you know what a fantastic week we had, but back to work, heads down etc! The house, facilities and location were perfect. It is beautifully appointed – I really couldn’t fault it. The fact that the dog was welcome made such a huge difference too. It’s so rare to find that in a holiday let, and the fact that we could relax about him being there meant that he was so relaxed and well-behaved. The beach was superb and to be honest the weather didn’t really bother us. Coming from the Peak District, we are used to wind and rain so we spent most of our time out-doors anyway!

Many thanks for your efficiency and help with booking etc. I’m recommending to everyone I know and we will certainly return when we can.

OK, but not more.

  • 2 out of 5
We had an OK stay at the Lighthouse. Our main concern was that the house didn't live up to what was promised here on Home Away. It barely sleeps eight people - the sofa bed being more or less broken. It lacked sitting space for eight people on the terrace. It had a really underequipped kitchen, which made it difficult to cook for eight people.

The location on the other hand is great! The Lighthouse being close to the beach as well as interesting places in the surroundings. We made many trips, for example to Rye, Hastings, Eastbourne, Canterbury, Folkestone and Battle. All of these places are easily accessible from Camber Sands.

The Lighthouse, Camber Sands

Very well decorated and kitted out property, it had everything we needed. It was nice that there were 2.5 bathrooms as well, and we had plenty of space. Everything was very clean and well maintained, with only a couple of minor things that needed attention like loose towel rail and a broken bulb. Richard was really helpful when we arrived and sent us lots of information about places to eat and visit in the area, and even emailed us some directions to the beach! Great places to eat within walking distance are the Gallivant, although the service is a little slow, and the Green Frog, which also has Sky Sports and where we watched the Premiership final battle games! The welcome pack was fab, all beautiful organic biscuits, eggs, milk and cakes, and there was a great Nespresso machine. There's a very good farm shop nearby called Salts and this sells wonderful meats, cheeses and lots of other things. I would definitely recommend the property to anyone who wanted to go down to that neck of the woods.

A perfect seaside break away with our young family

  • 5 out of 5
Upon arrival The Lighthouse was inviting, clean and delivered beyond our expectaions.
The spacious and superb design made this letting a wonderful family friendly accomodation.
Beside the Sea holidays informed us well of local attractions, shopping amenities and recommendations on places to eat making the planning of our days easier.
My husband loved the high tech entertainment system in the living area, I loved the informal kitchen diner, and my 2 children loved having the beach only minutes away from our holiday home.
Camber beach is breath taking, and my son flew his first kite with his daddy there.
A family day spent visiting nearby Bodium Castle (steam train ride included, leaving pretty Tenterden), days spent in Rye, Hastings, Battle and a day trip to beautiful Eastbourne. Everyone was happy!!
I would encourage and strongly recommend any family to jump at the chance of a break away staying at The Lighthouse.
