We decided to stay in this very affordable apartment instead of a pricy hotel because we had been to Kauai before. We knew that we would be out and about enjoying the island during the day and really just needed a place to crash at night. I have to admit I was a bit worried that it might not be super clean or there may have been bugs. I had nothing to be concerned about, the place was well maintained and very clean. We were very impressed and plan to stay here next time we come to Kauai. The location is fantastic, it is set back in a neighborhood at the north end of Kapaa, so it made getting to the north or south end of the island a breeze. Not to mention there are tons of great restaurants in Kapaa. We loved it! There were beach towels, mats, and a little beach chair waiting for us. There are basic kitchen supplies in the apartment, by this I mean a full size fridge, coffee maker, toaster, and microwave. There is also a small hot plate so you can cook, and a few pots and pans. I cook a lot at home, and felt a bit challenged to even make spaghetti on a hotplate, it just took so long, but it was possible. I would highly recommend just doing snacks and sandwiches, maybe microwave dishes. None of this however, dampened my experience. I highly recommend this space. Jennifer was so sweet to talk to over the phone and was available immediately when I text her about a parking question. Can't wait to come back!
We have stayed at this studio for the last two years when visiting Kauai. It is in a nice neighborhood close to Kealia Beach at the north end of the Kapa'a bypass road. This location makes it easy to get to north, south, and west sides of the island for activities. The price is amazing. Jennifer the property manager communicates promptly, is super nice, and always helpful.
The studio is on the ground floor of a very well maintained home. It has always been immaculate. It has a separate entrance with a privacy fence. Along the graveled walkway you'll find a water spout to rinse off the sand and a table and chairs to set things down on. When you go through the door there is a speparate entry the width of the studio where you can kick off shoes and store your gear. This last visit there was a cooler, some snorkel masks, beach chair, umbrellas (for rain) and beach mats.
The studio consists of one large room and a separate bath. The kitchen area has a full size fridge, toaster, microwave, hot plate, dishes, pots, skillet, utensils, storage containers, and table with stool height chairs. We go budget and buy groceries and eat breakfast and most dinners at the studio. We pack a lunch and snacks to take on our adventures. There is a one or two gallon water container that that is slender enough to fit in the freezer. We fill it each night, pop it in the freezer and then put it in a small cooler tote- keeps the food cold and we always have nice cold water to drink.
The bath is stocked with bath towels, beach towels, and some toiletries in the medicine cabinet. The tub has an awesome shower. The water was always hot. There is no window, but the bathroom is vented and has a small fan to help keep it cool and unfogged. There is a hair dryer under the sink if you need one.
The bedroom area has a comfortable queen size bed, two night stands, a dresser and large consol with a flat screen TV and books on Kauai. There are two ceiling fans and two windows to keep the studio cool. The art work on the walls is beautiful. The closet is huge. It has two luggage tables, hangers, extra linen. a stand up fan and iron/iron board.
If you are wanting awell maintained affordable place to stay where you can also experience what a genuine nieghborhood is like on Kauai, this is perfect for you. We will continue to be repeat customers. We always look forward to seeing Jennifer too!
This studio was absolutely perfect for what we needed on our trip. Jennifer was amazing at communicating and making me feel comfortable booking through VRBO for the first time. We appreciate the little kitchen and hot plates. We were able to cook breakfast and save on eating out every meal. Would definately recommend this studio to friends and family and return on our next visit to Kauai. Mahalo
As a couple on a tight budget we really appreciate the prize of this condo which is unbeatable. We stayed there for 8 nights. Once we arrived at the place we were surprised how much can we get for so less money. Condo is very neat and cozy. In there you are gonna find everything you might need during your stay in Kauai. Distance to a nearest beach approximately 5 min by car. Jennifer (condo owner) is also very nice and helped us with all of our concerns. Would definitely recommend.
We stayed in this Kauai studio for 2wks, and have no complaints with the location, cleanliness, or comfort.
The drive from Kuhio Hwy in Kapaa to this apartment is about 4 minutes. When you walk in the door, you walk through the kitchen and past the dining table to a large comfortable bed which sits beside a nice sized closet. There is no air conditioning, but the small room has two ceiling fans, and the owners have provided a "Wind Machine". We left all three running day and night. If we hadn't, the room would have quickly become a sauna. In front of the bed, a TV is provided, with the usual cable type channels. We didn't watch much TV. There is no DVD player. Left of the TV is the bathroom. There's nothing to say about the bathroom besides it does its job. Back to the kitchen, there is minimal counter space with a microwave, coffee pot, and sink/ drying rack. More than enough dishes and silverware are provided for two. While there is no stove top, there is an electric burner, and frying pans provided. A very nice large fridge/ freezer sits across from the sink.
Our owner contact emailed me before, during, and at the end of our trip. She was attentive, seemed like a very nice person.
My only complaint is that the neighbors dogs bark when let out at night. Sometimes they bark a lot before being let in. I can sleep through it, but my wife doesn't, then I get to hear about it the next day. I assume they like barking at the chickens. I would.
I would recommend this studio to two people (unless you're swinging) without kids, who are looking for an affordable, clean, and comfortable place to rest your sunburned backs.
On a side note, The Kountry Kitchen is very near this studio, and has great local food and traditional type breakfast. You must arrive before 7am or you'll be waiting for a seat.
We rented a car from Alamo, and upon return, were charged $50 extra for having sand present in the car. I asked if every car has sand, he said yes. Dollar and Thrifty do not charge extra for sand in the car (it's Hawaii, it's inevitable).
If you see a sign for Shiloh Pa live music, the guy was a great singer. He serenades his wife, sings covers and originals. Very pleasant to listen to.
This vacation rental is perfect for a budget-minded couple. It is located in a fairly quiet neighborhood about a mile and a half from Kapa'a town. The accommodations were more than sufficient for two people. The only drawbacks were the next-door neighbors were a little loud a few nights and the wi-fi service was occasionally spotty. But, overall, our stay at the property was very pleasant and comfortable. And there were two fresh papayas waiting for us on the kitchen table upon our arrival, which was a thoughtful touch! We would happily choose to stay at this property again.
