Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday villa in Dunas Douradas - Villa Gela-Mar
4 bedroom, 4 bathroom villa with private pool set in mature gardens.
Gela-mar has recently been renovated. There is a brand new open plan kitchen and dining room with informal sunken lounge room. All new furnishings, curtains and bedding! The bathrooms have been completely renovated to be walk in wet rooms with fixtures to a modern high standard.
The villa is suitable for up to 8 people. There are three master bedrooms and an additional interconnecting twin bedroom which is also can be used as a second sitting room with TV, DVD player and Playstation games console. Outdoors, there is a built in BBQ, Portuguese style tiled dining table with benches plus a sink and fridge (so your beer and wine can stay nice and cold poolside). The south facing pool is kidney shaped with easy steps to enter the water. There are two roof terraces – perfect for al fresco dining in the evening and also grabbing those last rays of sunshine at the end of the day. If you look through the palm trees you can even see the ocean too !
Beaches: There are four beaches within a short walking distance from our villa including Praia Vale do Lobo – these easy walking distance beaches are Praia do Ancao, Praia do Garrao, Praia do Trafal and Praia do Almargem – all beaches are long, open, flat beaches with the trademark red cliffs of Vale Do Lobo beach as the central point for your explorations. From Vale do Lobo you can walk all the way to Praia Forte Nouvo and then onwards to Quarteria and even Vilamoura. In this part of the Algarve there is beach space for everyone and to suit every one and every family.
During the summer season there are lifeguards on safety patrol from early in the morning until sunset on all beaches that provide restaurant / toilet facilities. The beach concessions generally offer all the water sports facilities you would want including banana boats, canoes, pedalo’s, surf boards, kayaks, para sailing, water skiing, jet skis and doughnut water rides.
Beaches: Praia do Garrao
The area of Praia do Garrao is popular for its beach restaurants and is sometimes referred to as ‘Julias’. The name ‘Julias’ comes from a local lady and flamboyant character who opened the first beach bar at the time when access was either by horse or by a very sandy road through the pine trees
Praia do Trafal (also known as Praia do Loule Velho)
The road to Praia do Trafal follows the same path as that to Praia do Loulé Velho. On the way you can see some the ancient aqueducts that have been engraved onto the landscape for over a 100 years. Closer to the sea, the terrain is marshy and the Ribeira de Carcavai forms an extensive wetland with reed beds, tamarisks and rushes. They say that hidden somewhere in this area are the ruins of a Carthaginian fishing village. There is parking near the beach, which has a restaurant called ‘ Rosa de Campo’ which serves traditional Portuguese food (please note that they do not accept credit cards – cash only)

Guestbook comments from the manager
Villa Gela-Mar was the perfect place for a family holiday with two children but would lend itself perfectly as a villa to holiday with friends. It affords total privacy from the outside world but the design of the interior also lends to privacy if holidaying with friends or family. There are several 'outside spaces' to enjoy within the grounds - the part-shaded roof terrace with hammock and far-reaching views will remain in my mind for a long time to come. The bedrooms are beautifully furnished, spacious and light and the kitchen/dining room perfectly sociable and inviting! My children adored the playroom - I had to coax them out to play in the pool! We walked daily to the beach from the villa - it took around 15 minutes (with a 3 year old on foot!) and was a pretty walk. The housekeepers were very reliable, friendly and unobtrusive. There was nothing we didn't like about this villa or it's location. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
