Occupying an enviable position in the heart of the Southern Lake District, in the village of Back barrow - one of a handful of small villages clustered close by and around the south western reach of Lake Windermere. Either immerse yourself in the many varied attractions within 10 mins of the property or lose yourself in the surrounding stunningly beautiful countryside and woodlands of the Rusland Valley and Furness Fells.

Jazzberry boast two comfortable, contemporary furnished bedrooms sleeping four people in a twin and a king double, making it perfect for a romantic getaway or just a chance to chill in company of friends.

The South Lakes and South West Cumbria have the best of both worlds – quiet, beautiful open countryside yet within easy reach of the Lake District’s ‘Hot Spots’.

Family days out include the South Lakes Animal Park at nearby Dalton, where you can see Amur and Sumatran Tigers, Muncaster Castle with its owl sanctuary and adventure playground, either the Eskdale miniature railway or Haverthwaite Steam Trains, The Lakes Aquarium, boat trips on Windermere or Coniston Water, Furness Abbey, The Beatrix Potter Gallery, the award winning gardens of Holker Hall or Grizedale Forest with it's sculpture trails, way marked mountain bike tracks and high wire rope course provided by Go Ape - the list of attractions within the area is endless.

Leisure activities close by include lake swimming at Fell Foot, golfing, fishing, adrenalin sports, canoing and horse riding. During the summer local villages put on annual agricultural shows. These are well worth a visit to get a real feel for local life.

Notes

  • We include a welcome pack for all our guests - everyone needs to be able to have a cup of tea and a treat after a long drive!

    Cleaning, linen - bath mats, hand and bath towels and tea towels, heat, light and unlimited hot water are included in the rental. All essential items such as toilet roll, dishwasher tablets, cleaning items and essential store cupboard ingredients (sugar, condiments etc) are also provided.

    The only extra charge is for dogs £15 and fuel for the fire, which you can purchase locally.

    Payment is preferred by cheque or internet bank transfer although paypal payments are accepted subject to a 4 % charge.

    A deposit of 50% (10% non refundable) confirms your booking with the balance payable 4 weeks before arrival. A refundable good housekeeping deposit of £250 is required with final payment - this will be returned on day of departure or within 7 days (subject to checks). If preferred the deposit can be by credit card imprint upon arrival

Jazzberry cottage was as good as the photo's we'd seen, easy parking at the front door. Immacutely clean throughout. Kitchen had all the basic provisions to get you started.. Local hotel had a nice bar and food was good although you wouldn't spend a whole evening there. Anglers Arms about 1 mile away had good pub grub and staff were very friendly.

Lots of lovely long walks to take everyday and the lovely sunshine was a bonus.
Would definately reccomend to others.
Recommended for:  Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Stayed with 2 friends at the end of Jan11. we arrived to a warm, spotlessly clean cottage with a much appreciated welcome pack! Emma was very helpful but unobtrusive - the prefect balance.

The cottage is very well equipped with lots of thought gone into providing all you might need. The bed was one of the lost comfortable I've slept in and the settees were equally comfortable for afternoon snoozing!

We liked being able to go walking from the cottage and there are pubs and shops within easy reach. A spa day at the nearby Swan hotel at Newby bridge topped off a perfect weekend.

I would happily recommend this cottage to friends, and equally happily return in the future!
