Overview

Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday home in Sacramento - Urban Country Family Living

4/5 Bedroom, 2 bathroom family home close to capitol

This home away from home is an oasis for the traveller that is passing through the capitol region or staying over an extended contract or holiday while commuting through the area. The home offers two spacious rooms with queen size beds and two smaller children/teen size rooms with single beds. The home has a pull out coach in the living room, a dinning room table that seats 6 to 8 in a cozy setting. The house has a gas stove and double oven that is adequate for quick cooking meals such as breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bathrooms both offer a stand up shower while one offers a tub. The backyard boasts over 20 fruit trees including grapefruit, limes, oranges, pears, and others as the season permits. The home was rebuilt in the late 1950's in a neighborhood of eclectic homes. As East Sacramento is a trend setting area, you will hear the light hum of the highway in the background at the same time as chickens clucking next door while you drink your cafe on the back patio. The home is best used for a touch base place space or place to relax between site seeing trips or office meetings. The master bedroom that has a crib and a loft bed is also available for an additional fee and deposit. Lastly, we are open to hosting rehearsal dinners for weddings or other occasions. Please ask about our visual and performing artists as well as military and veteran's family discounts.

About Dr. Sherilene M. Chycoski

While receiving my Doctorate in Educational leadership from the University of Southern California (Fight on Trojans!!) and working as a visual and performing arts administrator in the local school district, my husband and I purchased our home in Sacramento. We have been living at the house over the past several years while I work on contracts with the arts and school programs. My husband who was retired and an internationally known trumpet player enjoyed the local shops and restaurants while I was working working at the local schools with students and teachers. Our home in Sacramento has since assisted me with raising our three children and our new addition. At this time, we are currently working on contracts outside of the country and we have decided to list our second 'home away from home' on this website.

Dr. Sherilene M. Chycoski purchased this house in 2004

Why Dr. Sherilene M. Chycoski chose Sacramento

We purchased this property as it has a fantastic central location which is close to all our activities which include the Community Center Theatre, Wells Fargo Pavillion, Capitol Building, Sacramento Ballet, Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra, Crocker Art Museum, Cal State Fair and Cal Expo as well as restaurants, shopping and great places for working in the fabulous 40s.

What makes this house unique

The large backyard with the double lot is what made us fall in love with this property. Who would of thought that you could find over 20 fruit trees in the middle of the city. While our guests and friends stay, we ask them to check and make sure that the sprinklers are working as the summers can get pretty hot in the capitol region.

Great for families

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for two weeks with our 2 and 4 year old. The house is big and comfortable and had everything we needed. Our kids were thrilled with the toys, games, books and play set in the back yard. It was nice to walk to the grocery store or the coffee shop. if you are looking for charm or romance, this isn't the place for you. But if you need something practical and kid friendly, you'll find this house to be the right place!

Thanksgiving Rental

  • 4 of 5

Although we live in the area we rented this home to accommodate family members visiting with us for Thanksgiving. At first outside glimpse the house appear small but as you enter the home it opens up into a beautifully spaced floor plan. The house provided the family with enough space for everyone to have a bit of privacy and to also to mingle with during family times. The children enjoyed the spacious yard until the rain forced they inside. Our most disappointing part of the stay was during first arrival. After traveling for hours getting some rest was foremost for some of our guest only to find crumbs and stains on the children's bunk beds and another twin bed which prompted us to change the linen on all the beds. When occupying a vacation home I don't like the feel that I'm a guest in someone else's home, I'd like it to feel more like my home away from home but the personal pictures of the owners made that impossible. They were lovely pictures but they don't belong in a vacation rental. Also the closet in the master bedroom was off limits for use which was it an awful inconvenience. The kitchen was a great size and extra seating was provided. The location was very convenient with Trader Joes and other stores for dining and shopping options within walking distance. Bottom line, if your looking for a tidy, hotel(ish) luxury rental feel look elsewhere. However, if you are in need of a spacious Nana's house type the stay here will work just fine for you.

In my opinion, the price is a bit high considering the lack of housekeeping or maintenance but perhaps the size sells itself on this one. The owner is really nice so maybe she just needs better help maintaining it. Overall the stay was comfortable and the holiday experience enjoyable.

Family gathering

  • 4 of 5

Quiet Lovely. The surrounding neighborhood is spectacular. The early morning was cool and multiple neighbors were out jogging and walking the neighborhood. The properties description was spot on. It's cozy, quiet and comfortable. The home was spacious enough for our party of 6. Each individual had their private room to sleep in. We orginally booked the property for 10, but decided there would be bathroom conflicts with so many living in the house and not enough personal sleeping space. Sleeping 10-12 would definately be crowded. The backyard was a welcome relief after a busy day and having a cup of coffee in the morning under the trees set the mood for a perfect day. The owner and property manager were helpful in answering all my questions and concerns. The bathrooms are clean, but the rear bathroom could use a touch up. I realize this is a private residence, but there were alot of cleaning regulations posted around the home and that kept me constantly tidying up. Trader Joe's is next door along with other eateries and a coffee cafe. The home is an older property with alot of charm and anyone would feel welcomed to stay.

Excellent 5 bedroom home

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for my family of four to stay comfortably while celebrating my graduation. I believe the best feature is the beautiful backyard with great shade! Enjoy!

Great location and very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

I actually live nearby and rented the house for my extended family members who were in town for a graduation. The home had everything we needed, was centrally located, and had a beautiful backyard that was great for entertaining my relatives. They enjoyed their stay. Thanks for everything!
