The house and gite are situated within 1 acre grounds in a wonderful peaceful, but not isolated, setting on the edge of a pretty village.

Both the house and gite have been recently refurbished to a quality standard.

There are lawned garden areas and ball games. The properties are in a beautiful setting with quiet lanes ideal for cycling and walking. Both properties are some distance apart and each has its own patio areas with table, chairs, loungers, etc.

Whilst on the edge of a beautiful village the properties are only 20 minutes away from beautiful beaches and 40 minutes away from surfing beaches.

The house and gite are situated within 1 acre grounds. There are large lawned areas. The property is in a beautiful setting with quiet lanes ideal for cycling and walking. Both properties are some distance apart and have patio areas table, chairs, loungers, etc. Lounge With log fire, ercol solid elm suite, 32”tv, dvd player, video player, ps2 with games. Board games also. Large dining room Solid oak dining table with ten rush bottom chairs Kitchen A fully fitted kitchen with solid cherry units, microwave, neff stainless steel oven, fridge, freezer and dishwasher, etc, The swimming pool The pool is 11mx5.5m; 1m at the shallow end and 2.2m at the deep end. The pool has security fencing all around with a locking gate. It will be maintained for you on a daily basis. There are inflatable toys, volleyball, basket ball, games, etc, The pool is full from June to September and is on the basis that it is shared by the gite and house.

The Charente Maritime with its own micro climate is the second hottest region of France,.

Cravans is lovely and has its own bakery within walking distance. Gémozac, the nearest shopping town is just 4 kilometres away and has everything you should need.

Beautiful beaches are only 20 minutes away. Meschers is first with sandy cove beaches. Then there is Saint-Georges-de-Didonne which is a wide expanse of beach. Water sports are available there and there is an adventure climbing park. Royan is next, again a lovely beach and chic shops etc.

Further up the coast there are other lovely beaches including surfing beaches.

There is the most amazing zoo we have ever visited at La Palmyre. Also in the region there are beautiful harbour ports such as Mortagne sur Gironde, romanesque churches, beautiful old towns and cities such as Saintes and Bordeaux waiting to be discovered. These are reached by driving past vineyards and in the summer, fields of beautiful sunflowers.

Golf: There is a golf course in Fontcouverte just to the north-east of Saintes. There is also a golf course in Royan near the Grand Coast.

EVERYTHING AND MORE AND MORE!!

We have holidayed in this house for three summers in a row, 2010 and 2011 and 2012.

The house and garden and pool are highly recommended and the owners are now our friends.

The area is amazing so much so that we have now bought our own holiday home in the region. .

We enjoyed a great holiday at Laurette in the French countryside .A great spot to relax and enjoy typical French scenery , a short walk to the boulangerie a car ride to nearby Gemozac .We enjoyed the pool and the coast has safe swimming at Royan and more adventurous can enjoy amazing waves at Cote sauuvage.The accommodation was comfortable and well equipped for self catering like home..Linda, Steven and the girls were very welcoming and helpful with anything we needed.We have good memories of a fun sunny ,relaxing holiday. We would reccommend this property to family and friends

Rented this property for a week in July 2010.
The house is set in large garden grounds and of course has a great pool- well maintained on a daily basis by Stephen and was the highlight of our stay. Although in a semi rural location, the local sights are easily accessed (and Super U is only a five minute drive away).
Would recommend Talmont, Saintes, Royan, Palmyre Zoo and the beautiful beaches which are all within a 30 minute drive.
The only drawback was that we only had the house for a week. We have visited lots of areas of France over the years and would recommend this property and location without reservation- next time we want to stay for two (or more) weeks!
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

After a long journey with three young children we were relieved to finally reach our destination, and we were not disappointed.
We received a lovely welcome from the owners and their family and after introducing ourselves we were shown to the house. Again we were not disappointed. It was home from home with everything you would ever need. We settled in really well and the children quickly made them selves at home in the wonderful surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in France and a big part of that was down to the accomodation and the friendly, relaxed and helpful attitude of the owners, Linda & Stephen. We thank you all for your kindness and we hope to be back next year to see a little bit more of the fantastic beaches and sights.
