A BEAUTIFULLY FURNISHED TRADITIONAL CORNISH COTTAGE IN VIBRANT WATERSIDE VILLAGE

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cottage in Flushing - Oyster Catchers

Oyster Catchers has 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom to sleep 6 in comfort

A sumptuous seaside gem nestled amongst a timeless row of period cottages in the heart of Flushing Village, this character

property provides a nostalgic year-round setting for an exclusive escape with family and friends.

Dating back to 1775 with a strong nautical heritage from having been the former residence of a Packet Ship Captain, the historical cottage simply oozes romance and nostalgic charm in its beautifully presented boutique-style accommodation.

The period sitting room enjoys a playful nautical twist, for a welcoming ambience in which to relax and entertain. A central beam adds cottage charm whilst the room is effortlessly enhanced by the white washed oak flooring and the plump cushions to the trendy nautical style sofas. A wood burning stove features to the room and is accompanied in the colder months with complimentary logs, for a romantic setting in which to unwind and enjoy quality time together.

A Freeview TV with DVD player, WIFI access and also a small book library ensures guests are kept entertained whilst the pretty whitewashed oak flooring flows into the adjacent kitchen diner making the two rooms ideal for indoor entertaining.

The fully-equipped kitchen provides a welcoming country-style ambience for enjoying relaxed meals in, with the large dining table perfectly complemented by all the necessary modern appliances to the kitchen including a cooker hob, microwave, electric kettle, dishwasher and fridge.

The sleeping accommodation to the cottage is ideal for groups of 6 and is reached by a flight of stairs from the sitting room.

Providing a romantic and tranquil sanctuary in which to relax, the master bedroom features a super king size bed (zip & link), in a beautifully decorated palette of soft crimson, grey and cream. A chest of drawers, bedside tables and fitted wardrobe complements the soft floral and stripe furnishings of the room and the sumptuous comfort of the pocket sprung mattress laden with premium quality designer bedding, culminates for an altogether blissful bedtime scene.

The second double bedroom is equally stylish and sumptuously furnished, with a temptingly large double bed perfect for lazy mornings. The fresh nautical theme perfectly complements the serene quality of the room and a sunny village view may be enjoyed from the window seat provided.

The third bedroom is ideally suited for children or adults, with a twin set of single beds provided in a sunny room enhanced by a stylish nautical decor and a flat screen TV.

A baby cot, safety gate and high chair may further be provided to accommodate young infants.

The accommodation to the beautiful period cottage is completed by two bathrooms comprising of a modern fitted family bathroom with a bath tub and overhead shower and a second contemporary bathroom fitted with power shower.

For guest’s enjoyment a sunny elevated garden outside provides a secluded spot in which to take in the delightful far reaching views of Falmouth. Perfect for daytime relaxing and entertaining, the private garden features a terrace furnished with a BBQ and outdoor dining area, to set the perfect scene for a relaxed lunch or a romantic alfresco occasion during your stay.

From the historical cottage guests are just a moment’s walk away from the village’s local amenities and quayside. Flushing provides a calm sanctuary amongst the more touristic nearby Cornish towns, with a friendly and nostalgic village setting ideal for year-round stays.

A well-stocked local village shop, the ‘Waterside’ Bistro to the quayside and the Seven Stars and Royal Standard pubs provide the perfect accompaniment to your self-catering stay whilst the highly recommended fish restaurants in Falmouth provide the perfect opportunity to sample some fine Cornish cuisine.

Flushing offers a Pirate adventure play area with easy access by

passenger ferry service to the vibrant visitor attractions and family-friendly beaches of Falmouth and easy driving distance from the water sports, sailing and yacht charters of Mylor and the historical and cultural delights of Penryn.

A local bus service also operates from the village and the nearest train station, just a 9 minute drive away in Penryn offers convenient links to Truro, for the direct service to London Paddington.

Christmas by the sea - the best we have ever had!

We loved our stay at this charming cottage - beautifully decorated throughout and obviously much cared for by its owners. We stayed for Christmas and they thoughtfully provided us with a tree and decorations. Having 2 bathrooms made it easy for all the family and the beds were so comfortable that we didn't want to get up - the kids loved the TV in "their room!" Many relaxing evenings were spent in the sitting room with the woodburner, though the house was so cosy we only really lit it for effect.

Flushing village is wonderful - being able to stroll down to the water and the childrens playground meant we hardly used the car. Both pubs served excellent food and the seafood at the Waterside restaurant was stunning - we even saw the boat landing the catch that day! Everyone was very friendly and by the end of our stay we felt like we were part of the village.

The cottage was clean, comfortable and relaxing - exactly what we needed. The fact that we could bring Sampson our beloved dog made our stay - he has never been so fussed over!

Car: not necessary

Flushing is said to be one of the warmest villages in the UK because it has an idyllic sheltered south-facing aspect, between the banks of the Penryn River and Falmouth Harbour.

It became popular in the eighteenth century as the choice location for the wealthy Packet Ship captains, and was visited by Admiral Nelson. Latterly it has become one of the most sought-after locations anywhere in the West Country.

Flushing has an unrivalled mild climate, streets lined with picture-postcard traditional terraced fisherman’s cottages, and beautiful unspoilt surrounding countryside. 2 excellent pubs and a stunning waterside restaurant are all within stumbling distance and a friendly village shop provides all the essentials.

There is also easy access onto some of the best sailing waters anywhere in the West Country, with the Helford River, the Fal Estuary, Falmouth Bay and Mylor Yacht Harbour all within reach. Flushing has a Sailing Club that welcomes guests, and it’s own dog-friendly beach.

The Flushing Regatta and Flushing Art Week are two unique annual fixtures not to be missed.
