One bedroom apartments, sleeps 1 - 4, one with a great view of Edinburgh Castle

The accommodation is situated on the 4th (top) floor of an Art Deco building. The building is served by an elevator, resident's pool, sauna and laundrette.

Lothian House is in the City Centre with Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, the EICC Conference Centre, Princes Street, theatres, cinemas, restaurants, pubs, clubs and shopping within a short walk.

Double glazed and with central heating and solid oak flooring throughout, the apartments have one bedroom with a large double or two single beds and pure cotton bedding for your comfort. The sitting rooms have a dining area at the window. 68 faces East with a great view of the Castle and 85 faces West overlooking Fountainbridge. The sitting rooms have a double sofa bed suitable for one adult or two children. For entertainment there is large flatscreen TV, DVD player and CD / hi-fi player. 85 also has a video player with a large video library. There is free wireless internet for your laptop and both apartments have a desk / work area. There is a fully fitted and equipped kitchen area. The bathrooms have a bath tub with shower over.

The apartment may be booked for short stays from three days, prices starting at £240. During the Edinburgh Festival the minimum stay is seven nights

68 and 85 Lothian House, 124, Lothian Road, Edinburgh are self catering apartments. The apartments are on the fourth (top) floor of the block and are served by an elevator and staircase. 68 faces East overlooking Lothian Road with a good view of Edinburgh Castle. 85 faces West overlooking Fountainbridge. They are the City centre and within easy walking distance of most of the attractions and transport links. There is a residents swimming pool (heated and open all year), sauna and coin operated laundrette.

The apartment would be cleaned to a high standard for your arrival with the bed(s) made up and bathing and pool towels provided for each person. The bedroom has a choice of super king size bed or two single beds. A double sofa bed can be made up in the sitting room and a travel cot/crib and high chair can also be provided on request. The kitchen is fully equipped with hob, oven, microwave, toaster, refrigerator, kettle, dishes, utensils, pots and pans. Dishcloths, cleaning materials and basic necessities such as condiments, cooking oil, tea, coffee and sugar are provided. There are two late opening grocery stores in the block and many 'Take Away' sevices should you wish to eat in. The sitting room has a large flat screen digital T.V., DVD player, CD and tape player, radio. The bathroom has a bath with shower over and comes with shampoo, body wash, soap and toilet paper. There is free wireless internet if you bring your own laptop and a work station in the hall. The accommodation is strictly non smoking.

Lothian Road is adjacent to Princes Street and has the Lyceum, Traverse, Kings and Usher Hall theatres, The Filmhouse, Odeon cinema, pubs, clubs, restaurants and shops. The Edinburgh International Conference Centre is just around the corner.

The access to the in-doors pool offered an agreeable alternative to museum seeing, especially when the weather was "Scottish". Delightful top floor flat, stunning castle views

The flat is very well furnished, clean and all you could want for a week or two stay in Edinburgh. The nightly firework display at 10.30 pm was worth going to bed to watch. Nearby shops and restaurants made it easy to spend a busy day at the Festival and still have an excellent meal locally. Plenty of shops for the essential breakfast rolls & pastries etc. The basement pool & gym were an added bonus.

Lovely cosy flat with a stunning view

Diane gave us a warm welcome and plenty of useful information. She was prompt to answer all inquiries and emails before our visit.We arrived a bit early and were able to leave our luggage in the apartment, which was very thoughtful. The flat is very clean, warm and cosy. We were glad returning to the warmth after being out all day, because it was windy, cold and wet at times. The apartment is well equipped, we couldn't have been more happy. The apartment is even equipped with a Lord of the Rings DVD collection ( some other films) and a variety of books. There is also no need to go to the tourist information, because a big collection of magazines and leaflets of sights, entertainment, eating out ideas is provided. As I mentioned before the view is just amazing. You can see the castle in its full glory, simply beautiful.
Shops, pubs and restaurants are within walking distance, which comes quite in handy when it's raining and you are able to walk to
Sainsbury in 2 mins to get some food.

We had a wonderful time and would recommend it to friends and family. We felt at home and were glad we found it and met Diane and her husband.

Great location, lovely view, everything we needed

A lovely little flat centrally located, just what we needed with a toddler. Easy to find, helpful owner, all the facilities we required. The pool was sadly too cold for my daughter but would be OK (if chilly) for an adult. We had a great time.

Great host, great location, very comfortable

We had a great experience from the start with this apartment as Diane, the host, was great to deal with. Her communication by email was always friendly and replies were quick. She was also very helpful during our stay and gave us good pointers on where to go and what to see.
The apartment itself is very comfortable, is clean and has a great view of Edinburgh Castle from both the lounge and the bedroom. It is also very warm, which is a good thing when the temperatures are a bit cooler outside. The kitchen is well equipped, the bed is comfortable and there is excellent wifi connectivity. The bathroom is small but functional - only things to be aware of are that the bath with shower can be a bit slippery and the toilet is a bit close to a radiator. Apart from that it is great.
There are some small supermarkets close by and plenty of places to eat within walking distance. In fact most things are within walking distance from this apartment - the Grassmarket is just down the hill, the castle is about 10 to 15 minutes walk and Princes Street is also 10 minutes walk away.
We would certainly stay here again and can recommend both Diane and her apartment. Fantastic host and comfortable accommodation.

I am sorry that you found the bath tub slippery when showering. The rubber mat should prevent that but as an extra precaution I have now fitted grab rails in both apartments which will provide more security while bathing or showering.

Perfect short break in a perfect city

Diane met us at the property to show us the layout and the facilities. The apartment was as described, clean, spacious and well stocked. It also had the advantage of being the nearest to the stairs & lift.

The views of the castle were more stunning than expected. We spent the Thursday evening eating dinner just staring out at the floodlit history in front of us. With supermarkets etc well within a minute's walk and adequate equipment in the kitchen, we were able to cook for ourselves easily.

We took advantage of the pool whilst we were there and had it to ourselves on both occasions. The pool towels provided in the apartment were very welcome as it meant we did not have to bring our own along with us - very difficult when on a short break and only bringing hand luggage!

Overall for a city break, this was perfect.

Fantastic place to stay in Edinburgh

The apartments are located in a centrally, that make exploring Edinburgh enjoyable and easy. The views are amazing. The apartment was warm, clean and well appointed and Diane made sure that I had everything I needed and gave me a great introduction to the city and Scotland. I would highly recommend to all!

The apartment building is in Lothian Road which is in the City Centre adjacent to Princes Street. It is within easy walking distance of most of the attractions and with good transport links. There are bus stops outside Lothian House, a Taxi Rank in the next block and both Waverley and Haymarket Railway Stations are within walking distance. The Airport Bus drops off and picks up on Shandwick Place, a 7 minute walk. A City Tour Bus can be boarded at the Princes Street end of Lothian Road.

Lothian Road has the Lyceum, Traverse, Kings and Usher Hall theatres, Churches, The Filmhouse, Odeon Cinema, pubs, clubs and restaurants. The Edinburgh International Conference Centre is just around the corner on Morrison Street. Also adjacent is the Canal basin which has restaurants and canal side walks. For children there is an excellent playground at the Lothian Road end of Princes Street gardens. Going south a few minutes walk takes you to the Meadows to play ball games, golf, jog or picnic. The Meadows has many events during the year. A short walk east takes you into the historical Grassmarket with many more pubs (with live music), restaurants, speciality shops and DanceBase.

There are two late opening supermarkets (Sainsbury and Scotmid) in the ground floor of the apartment block then Tesco and Boots pharmacy in the next block. The Edinburgh Farmers Market takes place on Saturday mornings in nearby Castle Terrace.

  • The bathroom is fully tiled in white. There is a bath tub with shower over, w.c. and wash basin. A large mirrored cupboard over the basin contains the shaver socket, toiletries and toilet paper. The bathroom comes with complimentary shampoo, body wash, bath cream, handwash and soap. Bath towels, hand towels, bathmat and a floor mat are provided. A ladder style radiator warms and dries your towels.

  • The bedroom faces East so is sunny in the morning. There is a large window and you can wake up to a wonderful view of the Castle. There is space for a baby cot / crib which can be supplied on request. There is a wardrobe with ample hanging space, bedside drawers, lamps a radio alarm, luggage stand and hair dryer.
