'The New Orleans Art House.' Greek Revival, 8-bedroom home off Magazine Street in the Lower Garden District with heated pool and waterfall, immense chef friendly kitchen, and amazing master bedrooms/bathroom suite. Each room has an individual theme or exhibits a local artist whose art is for sale.
Open kitchen and living room (38'X24') with 50' TV, DVR, Blu-Ray, and an upright piano - opening onto secluded pool area with hanging garden.
Two pull-out beds downstairs in private dens, 6 bedrooms upstairs with 8 beds, 4 full bathrooms. Three clawfoot tubs. Perfect for any corporate group or family. Wi-Fi, cable, industrial washer/dryer, privacy. Quiet.
VERY IMPORTANT!!! Please be thoughtful about the dynamics of your group. If all men, it is quite unlikely that you'll be sleeping 2 people in EVERY bed. If all couples you probably won't want two sets of couples in one bedroom together. There are 2 bedrooms which have 2 beds in them. You might be fine with putting four small children together in those beds, but it would more likely be either two single adults or just one couple in one of the beds, maybe one of the kids in bed on the other side of the room. So please think it through in terms of your specific group. SIX bedrooms upstairs with 8 beds. Two sleeper sofas downstairs. Those are best for singles.
Streetcar 4 blocks away runs to French Quarter, or uptown to Audubon Park and Zoo, Tulane and Loyola - Connection at Canal St. to City Park and the New Orleans Museum of Art, Botanical Gardens. Morial Convention Center is walking distance to the river four blocks away.
Coffee shop, Mojo, on the corner. Great breakfast place, Surrey's, one block away. Walk to Magazine St.'s boutiques, galleries, antique shops, spas, gym and restaurants.

The owner purchased this house for his family and is more than happy to share it with groups interested in a unique New Orleans experience.
Karen Dolan purchased this house in 2012
This house is unique in that it is very large and can accommodate up to 16 adults in 8 sleeping rooms. There are 10 beds (2 rooms have two beds) so if you have several children along these rooms with 2 beds will allow more than 16 people. It is situated near the Garden District mansions, the Warehouse District restaurants, the convention center and the St. Charles Streetcar, which will take you to the French Quarter or uptown to Carrollton Avenue. The Mississippi River is four blocks away. Historic Magazine street is on the corner and coffee shops, popular breakfast restaurants, antiques and art galleries are steps away.
Large house with possibly the best kitchen in New Orleans, great TV room adjoined with 50' flat screen, heated pool with waterfall, master bathroom is amazing. Tub in the middle of the room, and shower has 8 water jets.
Flexible room accommodations. 6 bedrooms /8 beds (2 are converted into a large suite) upstairs and 2 convertible bedrooms downstairs with queen mattresses. 16 foot ceilings. 3 Full Bathrooms upstairs and 1 downstairs near pool area in entertainment den / great room kitchen. 2 Kings and 5 queens. A double, and air mattresses. Two bedrooms have two beds in each. Two bedrooms can serve as a suite of three queen beds and a bathroom.
There are very few homes in New Orleans that provide all of the amenities and flexibility for private rentals as this amazing property. Just perfect for your personal event or corporate rental.
Each room has art from a local artist. Downstairs there is a French Room and an English Room.
The New Orleans Art House is perfect for any occasion.
This is the most incredible house. It is huge, and the kitchen is to die for. The master bath has a walk in shower with 7 water jets. And a tub in the middle of the room! Great location and amazing hosts. This is the best house in New Orleans
We had a big group coming to New Orleans for our stay. This home provided plenty of room and space for each couple or single members of our group. There was easy access to magazine street and all of the shops there. We also traveled downtown during the day and night and cabs were easy and completely affordable. I was surprised at how affordable they really were! The home's kitchen was huge and was the perfect place for at home dinners and cooking breakfast for our big group. The pool was a huge plus as well. Even though we traveled Dec-Jan it heated right up and we were able to use and have a low country boil on the patio.
Karen also was extremely helpful. She helped down to every detail from the wifi password to the local restaurants and was quick too! It was my first VRBO experience and she helped make it a great one!!!
Even after the trip was over I was told numerous times and thanked by people in our party for planning and of course the amazing house.
I would recommend this property to anyone with a large group traveling to New Orleans.
We rented this house for a joint Bachelor/Bachelorette party and could not have been more pleased! The house was absolutely unreal and amazing. It was like being on a season of The Real World. We had 19 people that stayed with us, and all fit comfortably in the house. We were able to walk to Bourbon St. if we wanted, had lots of food options nearby, and cab rides were very decent. I had never been to Louisiana, let alone New Orleans, and this was the best weekend of my life. This trip will forever go down in history for us all and I could not have chosen a better place to spend it. Karen and Lorna handled everything and were so helpful, they could not have been nicer or more generous. The house had every single thing you could even imagine and then more. I highly recommend this house to any and everyone!!
We rented this property for Christmas. It was our first Christmas after selling our family home and it was perfect. Everyone felt immediately at home. Prior to our arrival we had some concerns which we addressed with the owner and he took care of each of them, including purchasing a new refrigerator and grill. The large kitchen, living, dining area was the reason we chose the house and that is where we spent most of our time. The kitchen was a delight to cook in and had every appliance, dish and gadget that we needed to prepare all of our holiday favorites, including a huge gumbo pot. Check in and check out could not have been easier as well as communication with the manager - thanks Lorna. The bedrooms were large and inviting, with plenty of room for our adult family (10 people). The house was well stocked and logically laid out. The location, right off of Magazine street, was great. We loved our morning walk to coffee (Mojo) and the gym (Franco's Athletic Club). The only thing I would warn a renter about is that the front 4 rooms do not have heat or air. This was not a problem for us because the temperatures in New Orleans in December are very mild. We had electric heaters that we used when needed. We are already trying to rent the house again!
Really enjoyed this home. We had a large group, and found the living space, pool area, and large island/counter in the kitchen all great areas to congregate around. The location is great, with a coffee shop right around the corner (Mojo's), and a great set of shops and restaurants a few blocks away on Magazine Street in the Garden District (including Juan's Flying Burrito, which is a great place for quick eats). It's also walking distance to Cochon, which is one of the best restaurants in the city. Touring the Garden District by foot, and St. Charles street by car are very easy, and although we walked over to the French Quarter, a short cab ride may be the best route. The house owners were accessible and met us at the house with no issue when we arrived, and checking out was just as easy. Would definitely stay here again.
This house looks good on the outside, but is totally tasteless on the inside. I was there with a group of 11 women and this house certainly was not as advertised. The downstairs bathroom did not have any hot water (I wonder if it is even plumbed for hot water), the refrigerator was broken, the dishwasher did not work, the ice machine did not work. The fold out beds were uninhabitable due to the mattress being so old and thin. The couches were worn and sagging. The bathtub upstairs flooded the room. The front rooms were so dark there was no way to read in them. I just saw the review from last summer and they had the same problems with the house. Shameful that the owner has not corrected the problems before renting the property again. I can only assume the positive reviews are fake.
Finally getting around to writing a review of this home because we are researching a spot for our 2015 family reunion. Not sure if it'll be in New Orleans. The stay last year was wonderful. Sixteen of us stayed for 3 nights. The property was clean, comfortable, and the back patio was secluded. Plenty of room for all us us to relax. The kitchen was large and open. The weather cooperated too, and that always helps. Great place to stay. Will be back soon-ish.
