Situated on the seaward side of the Warren in a conservation area of St Ives stand Men an Mor Cottage and Apartment. Perched above a large outcrop of blue elvin rock, between Porthminster Beach and the harbour, the large picture windows frame a spectacular outlook, from St Ives town to Godrevy lighthouse.

Relax on the window seat and watch the world go by, boats sailing past, and various wildlife including seals, dolphins and cormorants. Men an Mor cottage and Apartment are perfect for holidays at any time of the year. In the winter stay warm inside whilst watching the waves crash over the rocks below. Men an Mor: Perched on the rocks between Porthminster beach and the harbour sits Men an Mor cottage and apartment so named after the slab of blue elvin which protects them from the sea. Men is Cornish for rock or stone and Mor means sea. The setting is striking with an expansive view from St Ives harbour to Godrevy lighthouse. When the tide is out the golden sands draw out the beachcombers, whilst at night the harbour lights shimmer across the water. This peaceful idyll is occasionally broken by stormy weather with the sounds and spectacular display of the Atlantic crashing against the rocks below, best viewed from the comfortable window seat with a glass of your favourite tipple. Men an Mor is favourably situated, in a conservation area, on the seaward side of the Warren, next to Porthminister beach and its famous café. The train station and car park are a 3 minute walk. The harbour, only a stones throw, provides a full range of eating establishments.

St Ives: St Ives has long been famous for its artist colony drawn to the area by the fantastic nature of the light. It was at the vanguard of the Modern British movement and those inspired by the town include Virginia Woolf and Alfred Wallace. This influence is still strongly in evidence today, with the world renowned Tate, St Ives and a wide selection of good quality smaller galleries showing an ever changing display of art from post war up to the present time. Music is also an important feature of the town. Throughout the year the pubs and the Guildhall play host to various bands from local to world music.

All of these artistic achievements are celebrated during the St Ives September festival, which runs for the 2nd and 3rd weeks of September, a popular draw for both UK and international visitors.

Men an Mor Apartment has a spectacular location next to Porthminster beach & St Ives harbour built on the rocks facing the sea. Watch the waves roll in under the balcony, large picture window and double patio doors, all looking out directly to sea wide 180 degree view, no roads or pavements in front, hence the name Men an Mor which in Cornish means rock and sea. It occupies 2 floors with a large spiral staircase between and a large window seat to sit and watch the changing moods of the sea, cormorants, a friendly seal and if you are lucky dolphins, seated on the balcony bench. The apartment is open plan and simply decorated with wooden floorboards, white walls and paintings by local artists. There is a bedroom with a double pocket sprung mattress and seaview. An open-plan living/dining area containing a sofa bed, dining table and chairs. 2012 a new shower room fitted next to bedroom. Next floor has kitchen and a 2nd bathroom. The old town of St Ives juts out to sea and is surrounded on three sides by water, creating almost an island. There are many beaches all with beautiful golden sand. Relax in the sun, take a walk over the sands, paddle in the sea or try your hand at surfing with help from fully qualified instructors.

For those who prefer walking, the coastal path is on your doorstep. Set out from Porthminister beach and continue to Carbis Bay, then to Hayle and beyond. Alternatively walk around the coast of the town until you reach Porthmeor beach, then continue along the beautiful and wild coastal path to Zennor, a must for nature lovers with bird and seal colonies and occasional dolphins. Look out for the famous Mermaid on the way and take sustenance at the local pub before the return walk or for those captivated by the warming fire, the last bus back.

  • PLEASE NOTE WE HAVE RECENTLY UPDATED THE APARTMENT. it now has a seperate double bedroom with pocket sprung double bed, fantastic seaviews and a new 2nd shower room next to the bedroom. You can sleep each night to the sound of the sea and wake to the sunrise over the wide uninterrupted 360 degree view from St Ives harbour to Godrevy lighthouse. In winter snuggle up inside whilst watching the Atlantic waves crash over the rocks below. In the evenings watch the lights twinkle across the sea, during the day lie in bed and watch the boats sail in and out of the harbour. Quality bedlinen and towels are provided.

The approach is along a balcony and through double patio doors into a light and airy open plan room. The dining area is positioned to take full advantage of the views. The Apartment is on 2 floors, the separate kitchen has a porthole with seaviews and Farrow and Ball painted units. There are 2 bathrooms and a bedroom with full sized double bed comfortable new pocket sprung mattress and fantastic seaview - The Apartment has its own entrance on the seaward side of the Warren, between the pale golden sands of Porthminster beach and St Ives harbour. We have a parking space and the train station and Car Park are a 3 minute walk. All rentals include quality bedlinen and towels, utilities and a welcome tray. The Apartment is double glazed and has an LCD tv with freeview, dvd player and a selection of dvds and books. Due to granite steps and walkway the access is not suitable for the infirm, young children or pets.
