Pelican Pass, Corcega Beach, Rincon, Puerto Rico
We had a wonderful stay at Pelican Pass. I highly recommend it to others. Beautiful setting on a quiet beach south of the main area of Rincon. The house actually sits on a dead-end street so there is no through traffic. Very easy to get to the Rincon grocery stores (Econo, Edwards). And a good location to get to Rt. 2 to go south to Mayaguez or north/east to Puerto Rico.
Wifi access in the house was excellent. However, I could never get a T-mobile signal for my cell phone. Fortunately, another party in our group had Verizon, which worked fine, but cost $.70 per minute roaming charges.
The kitchen was well stocked. The cutting knives were a bit dull. A simple sharpening tool would be a useful addition.
Cable service was very good. However, the TV itself is probably 20 years old. A new flat panel would be nice. Also, there are plenty of music CDs to play, but no video DVDs even though there is a player. You’ll need to bring your own.
Plenty of beach accessories available including beach towels, folding chairs, bogie boards, etc. Speaking of the beach, there is a wonderful cluster of palm/other trees just outside of the gate to the beach that are excellent shade. However, the property sits right next to a public beach access passage way. So it’s important to get the beach lounge chairs from the patio out in this spot early in the morning to “claim it”. One night, several locals actually camped out at that spot all night to make sure they had it for a large group the next day. We were told that it was a retirement party!!
The beach and swimming were very nice. Definitely the "quiet" side of Rincon. The bottom is a combination of sand and some uneven rock, but that was maybe 30 to 50 yards offshore. Suggest booties or some form of foot protection if you're going to spend a lot of time in the water.
Gladys and Hector, the property managers, came by several times. Gladys is a real sweetheart and solved a couple minor problems for us.
We’ve been to Puerto Rico probably a dozen times and have stayed all over the island. Rincon is probably our favorite area.
