Good Location, But Lacking....
The apt is in a good location in the Latin Quarter, only a few blocks from the Metro and the wonderful Rue Mouffetard, and located upstairs from a cute little bar/bistro. But the apartment was lacking a bit. No bar of soap in the bathroom, no hair dryer as promised (when it is freezing and raining, this is really an issue), internet that doesn't work 90% of the time, limited television and no offer of DVDs for the player. The apt has furniture but no amenities, not one book to read or movie to watch. The toilet area is comically small and the bedroom is smaller than the picture would present. In fact if you have the side table next to the bed as shown, you cannot open the door at all. And while the owner asks that you be quiet and respect the neighbors, the neighbors do no such thing. We were kept awake every single nite by the neighbors. Parties on a Monday night, loud music, paper thin walls so you could hear everything. One more important tip - the door is very very very difficult to open when all deadbolts are in place. Took us 10 panicked minutes to figure it out. Consequently we never used the deadbolt unless inside sleeping.
Owner's Response: The answers to the questions above:
We rent an apartment which is large, confortable and with a very reasonable price compared to the value you may get at a hotel room.
Thee is a hair dryer in the apartment, it must have been put in some closet and our guests didn't find it. In any case we always are happy to help if we hear about any problems. Our phone number is on the contract and in different mails that we send to our guests. We always are available.
No one lives in this apartment, so there are no books, or DVDs, and then who needs all those when all of Paris is waiting to be visited :)
The apartment doesn't have it's own internet line, as we advise on our first mail, our guests can use the freewifi network with an identifier and a password, not only while in the apartment but anywhere in Paris.
The bedroom is about 11m² which is a reasonable size for a parisian apartment.
From the outside: The door is not hard to open, only you have to pull it to yourself while turning the key in the lock. From the inside: There is a round button to push to the right to open the door, this is something common in France but may not be known in other countries. We had some guests that were using the key to open the door from the inside, and it is in fact very very very difficult, again, if we had heard of this we would have explained. I think, we will put a paper explaining how to open the door.
The last point about the noise of the neighbours. It is our duty to advise our guests to be quite and point out that the apartment is not a hotel room where everyone is on vacation, so we do that. Unfortunately, we can not control the noises the neighbours make, as you can read in the review before other guests didn't have any noise problem. These guests stayed at the apartment only 3nights.
We can not stress enough that we are ready to make things right if ever any of our guests encounter problems, but we are totally helpless if we are not advised. Call us :)
Thanks
