Spacious direct seafront house with glorious garden and long raised patio & terrace with superb sea views. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps up to 4 persons. See detailed description below. SEE DETAILED DESCRIPTION BELOW

Although it is brand new, the design and atmosphere of the West Wing Cottage is reminiscent of the gorgeously decadent 1920s. Oak trim from the owner's private estate in Carmarthenshire, quarter-sawn American oak wide plank flooring in the living area, blonde maple wood flooring specially imported from Canada in the bedrooms and heritage style bathrooms combine to make this a property a seafront delight.

Walk out of the French windows onto the paved patio complete with table & chairs, then on down to your own private large lawn that extends out towards the sea. The attention to detail in West Wing Cottage will make you want to return again and again. Long lazy summer days gazing out over the water, croquet on the lawn, picnics at the water's edge and fishing off the rocks. Sit out on the lookout at sunset with a glass of wine and watch the sky and the sea light up with spectacular colours. Summer weekends often see a regatta in the bay with drifts of sailboats dotting the water. In the winter months the sun rises low over to the south-east producing some of the most beautiful sunrises with the colours in the sky reflected on the water.

The living area has a huge and incredibly comfortable 3 seater sofa, plus matching armchair. Flooring is burnished wide plank American oak. If you decide to eat in then choose from breakfast or a light lunch at the breakfast bar or sitting down at the large dining table to enjoy a leisurely dinner. Alternatively eat al fresco on the patio, picnic on the seas edge under the pergola or on your lawn. Back in the cottage after a busy day at the beach or sightseeing sit back and relax while watch a movie on the 52' large flat screen TV/DVD or listen to some music on the stereo. You will find leaflets and information on the beaches and local attractions, board games, cards, DVDs and books to entertain you: plus a ping pong table and laundry with large American style washing machine and dryer in the utility room. High speed internet access is provided via Wi-fi broadband so you can keep in touch by email with business or friends & family.

The kitchen features pastel sea foam cabinetry, easy care ceramic tile floor, light ivory tile worktops and built in appliances including oven, dual function microwave, hob & dishwasher. Separate larder with food prep area and tall fridge/freezer.

Westwing Cottage has 2 master bedroom suites, both with 18' thick top quality mattresses on the beds and own private bathrooms. Beds have hypoallergenic pillows and duvets. Our Housekeeping Service make up the beds with fresh crisp white linens. Bedroom 1 has a king size sleigh bed, Juliet style balcony and bathroom with shower and cast iron double-ended tub. Bedroom 2 overlooks the entrance gardens and has a huge and superbly comfortable super king bed, upholstered window seat, heritage style furnishings and bathroom with large tiled walk-in shower. As an extra luxury, as you enter the bedroom there is a curtained alcove with a Victorian style cast iron slipper bath to relax in.

Imagine yourself sitting by a glass lookout at sunset gazing out over the azure waters of Torbay. It really does not get any better than this! Your private garden also includes a long shady pergola, glass sunroom with conservatory furniture and a large lawn. If the strawberries, raspberries or blackcurrants, apples or pears are in season just help yourselves during your stay.

Follow the path through the fruit garden and open the oak gate that leads down the steps to another 2 lookouts. Steps lead down to the edge of the sea where you can fish and explore the rock pools.

The Torbay area has over 20 superb beaches for you to explore, some with the coveted Blue Flag status. So if you love long stretches of sand or picturesque small coves you can visit a different beach every day. Or just pull out a sun lounger, lie back in the garden and enjoy the sea air and sunshine.

This beautiful house has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and is a seafront delight. Sleeps up to a maximum of 4 persons. Originally constructed in 1923 in the style of Lutyens, it has recently undergone a complete refurbishment, including a brand new Neff kitchen, new heritage style bathrooms, gorgeous furnishings and oak flooring throughout. The original entrance door, magnificent staircase and entrance hall have been lovingly preserved and combine with the unrivalled stunning seafront location to make this a vacation home that you just won’t want to leave. The serenely peaceful position right on the edge of the sea and the attention to detail in Waterside are unmatched. You can enjoy picnics & croquet on the lawn, barbecues on the terrace looking out over the sea, fishing off the rocks and watching the ever changing seascape out over the waters of Torbay, the West Country's truly spectacular answer to the Riviera. Drifts of sailboats, beautiful sunrises and sunsets make for wonderful memories of your time at Waterside. The views just cannot be bettered anywhere on this lovely stretch of Devon coast. Close to over 20 pretty beaches and small coves that are dotted around Torbay, Just a couple of minutes to the picturesque thatched cottages of the village of Cockington and a short distance from the quayside of Torquay Marina and the pretty fishing port of Brixham. The French windows in the hall look out over your terrace, lawn and on to the spectacular panoramic view out over the waters of Torbay. The large open plan kitchen & dining room has views out over the flowering trees and shrubs in the borders that line the driveway. The dining area has table & chairs with seating for 4 and an exquisite custom made large oak dresser.

If you are not out enjoying one of the many great restaurants found in the glorious South Hams you can make quick snack or prepare a full 6-course dinner in the fully equipped kitchen. Fitted with oak cabinetry and marble countertops, you will find chef quality saucepans and built in Neff appliances that include full size oven/grill with a combination microwave/small oven over, steamer, hob & larder fridge. If you decide on a cookout, then there is a charcoal barbecue to use out on the terrace.

The separate utility room contains a large stainless steel side-by-side fridge/freezer with icemaker & water chiller. The laundry equipment consists of a large high capacity American style washing machine and a dryer.

The beds have hugely thick comfortable mattresses and crisp white linens. Pillows and duvets are non-allergenic. The Master Bedroom has French windows and a balcony with beautiful sea views. The bed is an heirloom style 6 ft wide super-king and you have your own private bathroom.

Bedroom 2 has views out over the mansions of Cockington and the pretty gardens lining the driveway. If you are staying during cherry blossom time there is a tall flowering cherry tree right outside the window. You also have a view of the boats in Torquay’s Marina in the distance. The bed is a king size and you have your private bathroom.

Towels are provided for the bathrooms but please bring your own beach towels. The brand new bathroom fixtures are exact replicas of elegant designs from the 1920’s. Beautiful Cottage and Location

  • 5 out of 5
West Wing is a beautiful cottage and ideally situated on the cliffs between Torquay and Paignton. The cottage has been converted to a very high standard, and the garden is very large and well maintained; our dogs loved chasing the wood pigeons! We would definitely recommend staying here to our friends, but with a warning about the stairs to get to the bedrooms. They are quite steep and tight, and could be a challenge for the less nimble or young children.

Excellent Property in amazing setting

  • 5 out of 5
We went with our 1 year old son and had an amazing week. The property is really well finished and perfect for a short break.
What really sets it apart from other places we have stayed is the beautiful gardens, terraces and view. The weather was gorgeaous and we enjoyed walking around the gardens helping our son to start walking.
It is located about 30 mins walk from either Torquay or Paignton and as we liked walking was perfect not to need to use the car as there is lots to see and do in the area.
The highchair and cot provided are of good quality and although we brought our own we shouldnt have bothered.
Would definatley recommend this apart from anyone with mobility issues (quite a narrow spiral staircase and no downstairs loo) or semi mobile very young kids as the stairs could be a worry. As our son is not yet self mobile this was not a problem.

All in all a top end place that would also suit couples who could enjoy a bottle of wine an one of the best views around.

Devon Retreat

  • 5 out of 5
Having just returned from a weeks stay at the West Wing, I can only say how delighted we were with this accomodation. Just as beautiful as the pictures and twice (at least ) as comfortable. The garden was a joy and entirely safe for dogs. The spiral staircase was a bit daunting at first, especially for my 85 yr old mother, but within a few trips we all got the hang of it and it hindered us not a bit. The beds were outstanding in comfort and it was a huge treat to be able to enjoy the night lights coming from the distant bay and towns of Paignton and Brixham from the warmth and comfort of our bed, with the french doors open all night. The peace and quiet was much appreciated and unexpected as we were actually not tooo far off the main road, you really could not hear a single peep.

Bathrooms were a hoot!!!! and beautiful to boot. More storage, (ie shelving) although probably detracting from the "look", would be my only real request.

The kitchen was more than adequate, with full appliances, and the cherry on the cake was being able to do laundry in the oversized American wahing machine and dryer.

All in all, a superb apartment/accomodation , Holiday-Rentals have never let us down, and we have used them many times over many years...

Wonderful 3 days

  • 5 out of 5
We stayed here for 3 nights in March, what a beautiful house, the views were stunning, and had the weather been better, time in the garden overlooking the sea exceptional, the house had everything and was a real home from home, the two bedrooms both with ensuite bathrooms with huge showers, and a bath if wanted. the only minor thing was the spiral staircase which was difficult to get up/down expecially with suitcases. I would go again and hopefully will in the future. this house is especially good for 2 couples. thank you very much for making the wing of the house so beautiful, we loved it.

Torquay is enjoying something of a renaissance with British visitors and the same things which have always attracted travellers still hold true: sun, sand and a sense of fun. At the turn of the century grand villas and mansion houses were built to welcome visitors and they still grace much of this elegant seaside town. Today, Torquay remains very much a seaside resort and its heartbeat is the picturesque harbour. Lined with a good mix of cafes, bars, top-class restaurants and great shopping. Around Torbay 20 beaches and coves are doted along 22 miles of coastline including Torre Abbey Sands and around the Bay to the sheltered coves of Meadfoot and the rock pools at Corbyn Head. Walkers can follow the south west coastal path and discover deserted coves and amazing vistas out across the sea. Nearby attractions include Brixham fishing harbour, the spectacular cliff top nature reserve of Berry Head, Dartmouth and delightful Cockington village with its thatched cottages and tea rooms.
