I was raised in the Wichita area Rose Hill small sub of Wichita. Helen from Florida & I married in 1972, raised three children, have nine grandkids. Have lived in the same area for the past 36 years. I have a metal art studio and travel to different shows all around the country.
Helen Turner or Wendell Turner purchased this cabin in 2009
We raised our family in the same area, wanted a get away feel home but close to Wichita. We acquired a couple of properties over the years. We've had families stay in our houses for 5 to 8 years.
The surroundings by its self is unique, you feel like you are really far from any town but at the same time only 10 minutes from Wichita. You can watch the stars at night if you are a star gazer. Keep an eye out for and listen for the owls. Foxes roam, along with the squirrels and occasional possum, armadillo. It’s easy to come and stay but very hard with much regrets to leave.
My oldest son was getting married and my sisters, children and other family members were staying there. Enough room for all to spread out and not be on top of each other. Sunday we had a wonderful get together on the back patio. Helen and Wendell were just a phone call away if needed. Next trip to Wichita we will definitely book here. I recommend this vacation home to anyone who has a large party. It is the greatest!
Absolutely wonderful! We came from out of town for my son's wedding and it was absolutely perfect. Lots of room for our guests. We used the outside space to host the groom's dinner. The owners were wonderful to work with and very accommodating. The house itself is very nice. Would stay here again if we are back in the area.
I took several employees here on a staff retreat, 9 of us total, and we had a great time. The cabin is beautiful, well stocked, and more spacious than it looks on the outside. We slept all 9 very comfortably, and would go back in a second! The owners were great to work with and treated us very well. Again, but thanks to them. Nothing but great things to say about this place.
My partner and I do retreat weekends for small groups. The A frame cabin was perfect. Lots of privacy considering there are other homes close by. The home is just beautiful and exceptionally clean. The owners are very easy and pleasant. It was overall, a pleasant experience and we highly recommend it for a getaway. Thanks Helen!

Our small office staff of four needed to get away for a time of creative brainstorming, dreaming and planning and this was the perfect place. It was secluded enough to feel rested and focused and close enough to restaurants for meals out. The owners were great and responded to our questions and needs both prior to arrival and onsite in a timely manner. The house had everything we needed during our stay. It was the perfect place for getting away.
We had a fantastic time while staying here. The location was ideal for us - just minutes from restaurants, shopping and the pumpkin farm! We have young children and selected this place as an alternative to cramming everyone into a hotel. We had plenty of room to move around! The place was clean and ready for us when we arrived! We felt like the owners did as much as they could to make it feel like a home-away-from-home for us!
We spent our weekend playing in the yard and at the park (which was conveniently located just up the street!). We enjoyed a bbq and roasted marshmallows in the fire pit. We had a wonderful time and are already working on planning a return trip next year.
The house is located on a private ranch with approximately 60 residents. The ranch was a private getaway to retreat from the busy city. It developed into a private home development. It has a small non moving water way lined with large trees that menders to Santa Fe Lake which is approximately 600 acres. Most of the houses are built along the river with most having a pontoon boat or canoe to navigate the river. Makes for a very lazy day for pontooning. The ranch, has over 3 miles of private roadway much of it is single lanes, with hills great for a walk, jog, biking. Could take a trip to the new state of the art Andover YMCA, day passes can be purchased at the Y. Have indoor pool, rock climbing wall , racquetball, basketball courts many other activities. Can't say enough about being close to Wichita. Plenty of shopping, sports events, restaurants, theaters.
