Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday villa in Castiglione di Garfagnana - Casa Massimo with private pool
Newly renovated, Casa Massimo is in the medieval walled village of Castiglione
With spacious rooms and private pool, this is a good opportunity to experience a summer holiday in one of the loveliest villages in Tuscany. Casa Massimo is set just above the medieval walled village of Castiglione. There is a view of the ancient Castello from the edge of the shaded garden.
Castiglione is one of the main villages of the spectacularly beautiful area known as the Garfagnana, arguably the most beautiful part of all Tuscany. The property is the ground floor of a large house, within a shaded garden which has a 9 metre private pool for the sole use of the guests. Entered through a wide hallway, there are 2 large bedrooms, one of which sleeps 3, and a large living room off the hall.
There is a new bathroom and modern kitchen.
The garden has mature plants and is shaded by fine trees. There is a 9 m private swimming pool with a depth of 1.4 m and steps
The owner lives discreetly in the apartment upstairs. His hospitality is excellent. He makes his own wine and fine preserves, oil and cheeses
Garfagnana: Garfagnana is 'Hidden Tuscany' at its best. With its stunning scenery it is the best area in Tuscany for walking and outdoor activities. We have close ties with an outdoor activities company who offer many international class adventures.
Castelnuovo, the nearby market town, has many restaurants, cafes, bars, supermarkets and all other types of shops. There is a tourist information office and a weekly market selling a wide variety of fashion, household goods, flowers, fruit and vegetables.
There is a restaurant and bar within a minutes walk from the villa. An excellent shop/bar, where you can buy decent wine on draft and excellent local produce, is 5 minutes walk
Mountain biking, hill walking and horse riding are all available locally. The stables are 15 minutes walk.

We stayed in Massimos house for the 2nd time and loved every minute , the warm welcome and the generosity of Massimo with his home made wines and cheeses make for a rare experience these days , it was like a Jamie Oliver experience but for real! It was great to get a pointer to the best local restaurants each of which served the most delicious local fare simply cooked. The house itself was spotless from top to bottom and the pool was to die for with lovely views over the fortified village walls. I wouldnt hesitate to book this property again and again.
