The Portes du Soleil is a collection of twelve interlinked skiing resorts in France and Switzerland. A single ski pass gives access to a massive 650 km of pisted runs and innumerable off-piste areas serviced by 212 lifts. Most of the resorts are within two hours of Geneva and, apart from the purpose-built resorts such as Avoriaz, most are farming villages that have succeeded in retaining their charm and character as skiing towns.
Morgins is one of the most attractive villages in the Portes du Soleil. At around 1300m, it is small, intimate, full of traditional Swiss alpine charm, and the perfect choice for a summer or winter self-catering holiday. Only 80 mins from the airport, it is very easily reached by car or train/taxi. It is still a farming village and lies in a quiet valley amid pine-clad slopes, staunchly resisting the lure of commercialism and high rise apartment development. It has a dozen restaurants, several excellent hire shops, a wonderful ski school and a nightclub.
Ski: Morgins is in the Swiss bit of Portes du Soleil, the world famous ski area - one of the largest in the world.
