Great apartment, local to the beach. Frank was very helpful and attended to all our queries promptly. The apartment was spacious, clean and fully equipped with everyone you could need. Would definitely come back and stay again!
We travelled to the apartment as a group of 10 guys & girls for my friend's 30th and the experience was mixed - it served the purpose of the trip, but I'm not sure I would recommend, it would depend on how fussy you are...
First thing would be that the apartment we stayed at did not match most of the pictures listed on here – we looked at a lot of apartments and to try & save any arguments, we wanted to avoid anywhere someone would have to sleep on a sofa bed or bunk bed. So I took the time to email Frank and ask how the rooms would be set up & when we arrived, they were completely different including one room (or rabbit hutch as my friends called it!) of four bunk beds. Not ideal and there was not even room for suitcases. The boys got stuck in there and had to get ready/ store their cases on the balcony and utility room.
Secondly, several things were broken - safety deposit box, TV, iPod dock, ironing board, cupboard doors, front door handle, to name a few. Given some previous reviews we were worried about getting the deposit back for anything broken so reached out to Frank four times by phone at several different points during our stay, plus text & email once each to try and see if we could get them fixed but he never got back to us at any point. I haven’t rented many apartments so I’m not sure how common these kind of things are but it was really just the safety deposit box & ironing board we cared about and it would’ve been nice to be able to get hold of the landlord, especially in case there was a real emergency.
Also the pool was off-limits during our stay, which we weren't made aware of (and they have no sun loungers around the pool, although this may be just because it was out of action)
Good thing was the location - a few mins from the beach, ten euros cab into Las Ramblas, five Euros into the marina, etc. Plus the bathrooms were nice and large, and the kitchen was smart.
And we had no trouble getting our deposit back - we broke a few glasses during our stay & got the tiniest amount of blood on the wall (after my friend fell out of the top bunk bed onto a glass!!) and were worried we might lose our deposit but Frank only charged 10Euros when I guess he could've tried for a lot more..
Overall, not a faultless stay and a few things which might bother some people but it served the purpose as base for a few nights. Just not completely as advertised!
Great seaside view, spacious apartment and terrasse with nice chill-out space, all relevant commodities and nice swimmingpool area, including nice beaches accross the road. Also pleased with rented basement parkingspace (surcharge).
The appartment bedroom capacity supports 8 people, and a good multi-family setup (not sure how living-room will support more people, though). However, be prepared for a somewhat inefficient airconditioning (bedrooms), malfunctioning of shades (bedroom and terrasse) and - in general - a quite worn rental appartment (with a residue of smoker resident?).
Not super central, but a car and plenty of commercial parking garages downtown (traveltime 10 minutes off-rush-hours) did the trick for us.
In general, it is somewhat high-priced for its wear and tear but if you value spaciousness, a great view and a good swimmingpool/relax area you are set for a nice in-the-city beach holliday setting with all the bonuses of an absolutely fantastic city.
NB. The landlord appears accommodating, but looks may be decieving (read previous review), and he will probably try to make a buck or two if he can ...
We spent an awesome week here in June 2010. There were seven of us; fours adults and three kids. The apartment looks like the pictures, is a block off the beach, in a quiet and newer parts of town and has easy access to Barcelona. There is also a huge grocery store and plenty of shopping and restaurant alternatives close by.
We ate several meals on the large deck outside. For a large family, the four bedroom configuration worked well for us and we used every bit of the space. The bathrooms are large and well configured.
We had a great time in Barcelona and would return without question.
Twelve of us had an excellent week long stay in Barcelona in July 2011, however several issues utterly spoilt the stay. The washing maching broke on day 1 (with clothes in), and Francesc did not arrange for it to be repaired until the day before we left, which left one of the party without clothes. The apartment was also not very clean on arrival, and despite being left cleaner than when we arrived Francesc retained the whole deposit claiming that a bicycle had gone missing, together with costs for the washing machine. He has since not returned calls or emails and makes life harder for other Landlords in doing so. Unfortunately the risk of staying in one of Francesc's appartments would be too great to consider doing it again.
Had a week in May at the apartment, and enjoyed every second of it. The apartment is well equipped, with wireless internet, ipod dock and all mod cons. Great sea views and a cool and comfortable balcony. There is a large pool, and a paddle ball court. Quietish beach was around 5 mins walk, and easy access to Metro gave the best of beach/city. Owner is very accommodating, and couldn't have been more helpful to us on our stay. Highly recommended!!
