About this property

Beautifully located stone house in over 400 year old domaine ****

Les Girolles is a stone house with several terraces that is part of the domaine Lagrenie, close to Groléjac. It is quietly situated at the end of a wood road, but just 15 minutes from the Medieval city of Sarlat and the famous villages Domme and La Roque-Cageac, and only 25 minutes from the castles of Castelnaud and Beynac. Located on a hillside it provides fantastic views over the river the Dordogne and the Perigordian hills.
Lagrenie consists of an old farmhouse, where the Dutch owners live, and two rental houses: Les Cèpes (sleeps 8) and Les Girolles (sleeps 6). The renters share a large swimming pool (6 x 12 meters), table tennis table and trampoline, and have complete privacy with several terraces of their own.

Tranquil haven
My wife and I, along with our two young children, stayed here for a week in June. The view from the 2-bed property was stunning and it is located in secluded woodland. Karin was an excellent host and the kids enjoyed seeing the chickens and playing on the trampoline. There is a lot to do in the local area so no need to drive more than 20mins each day. The interior of the property, although slightly dated in places, has a lovely charm to it and the overall ambiance of the place is wonderful. Thanks for a great stay Karin.

A lovely well equipped house in beautiful surroundings
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Les Girolles. Karin was so welcoming and helpful. The pool was fantastic and we loved having the dogs about the place. There is plenty to do and explore in the area. We would thoroughly recommend this property and would love to visit again. The views are amazing.

What a find!
The photos of this extraordinary site can't do justice to its peace and beauty. Contemporary in the way you want it to be, such as kitchen, plumbing, heating, pool while being lovingly restored in such a way as to maintain the fascinating history of these buildings and their spiritual essence. The warm atmosphere is also key to what made this the ideal location for us. The hosts have that rare gift of giving absolute privacy while always being available when needed. Here, one has the dual advantage of being set far away from hustle and bustle yet also being central to the key sights and activities of the Dordogne. Whether you want to sit by the pool and chill or be active and explore, everything is at hand. We will be back and are already recommending to friends (so book up well in advance!).

Why they chose this property

We have dreamt all our lives of offering a quiet, inspiring place to people to relax, be happy and rebalanced from the pressures of society. We found Lagrenie in 2010 and we have turned it into something unique: the authenticity of a medieval domaine with all modern comfort you could wish. Lagrenie is surrounded by woods an has views over the river, but is very close to all famous castles, markets and villages of the Dordogne.

What makes this property unique

Original stone houses.
Quite location nearby any possible attraction.
Authentic, romantic place with large swimming pool (6X12), trampoline, table tennis, stunning views, ruins.
