STUNNING 15TH-CENTURY THATCHED COTTAGE IN PRETTY DARTMOOR VILLAGE

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cottage in Moretonhampstead - September Cottage. North Bovey

Luxurious property with 3 bedrooms, located in pretty Dartmoor village

Beautiful and luxurious property combining every modern convenience - under-floor heating, a spacious kitchen and dining area and wireless broadband, with traditional cottage features - a log burning stove, beams and inglenooks. The gardens have been professionally landscaped and are private, with several secluded areas, including a small enclosed courtyard.

The large living area, with contemporary soft furnishings and a wooden floor, also includes a reading area and a desk. There is a formal dining room; architect-designed kitchen with Aga and with adjacent dining area, utility room and pantry; master bedroom with en-suite; a double bedroom and a third bedroom with twin beds sharing the main bathroom; additional toilet on ground floor.

Most of the windows in the cottage have window seats giving lovely views over the village and dramatic moorland beyond.

Suitability:
  • children welcome
  • non smoking only

Really As Good As Reviews Say

  • 5 out of 5
Everything that has been said about September Cottage in the prior reviews is absolutely true. It is a historic house which has been outfitted to the highest standard. The owners have provided everything you could possibly want. One thing that has not been highlighted as much in prior reviews is that September Cottage was once two attached houses which have been combined. The separate staircases from the old houses remain, which means the upstairs is essentially divided into two wings, each of which is accessed by a separate staircase. This provides absolute privacy. So it is perfect for two couples, extended families and (as was the case with us) traveling with a teenager. We had a great time.

Simply the best cottage we have ever stayed in. Everything in pristine condition. A fully-equipped kitchen (and I mean fully-equipped - drawer upon draw of utensils). The cottage was so tasteful and lovely in terms of décor and furniture. It was warm -proper central heating. The kids appreciated Sky TV. The service was attentive and no-nonsense - nothing a problem. The welcome hamper meant that the following morning breakfast was there ready for us to make - so thoughtful. Would recommend without hesitation. Great location for those that want to wake up to birdsong and talk an evening constitutional through the village and tiptoeing over the stepping stones across the river Bovey. The local pub, The Ring O' Bells provided great food. We attended Easter Sunday service - very friendly folks. Great location for walking, touring in the car or just for doing nothing but using the house, the gardens and the village to holiday.

A wonderful cottage - definitely recommend

  • 5 out of 5
This was a return visit for me, this time with a different group of friends. It was such a delight yet again, perfect location and the cottage is decorated beautiful with super comfortable beds. Everything is thought of - from dressing gowns and Molton Brown products, to just about every piece of kitchen equipment you could ever need! Couldn't recommend it highly enough, great location for everything, super comfortable and warm .... and so peaceful which is a delight coming from London. Already thinking about when I can go again.

Looking for a place to house my mother and wife's parents whilst we stayed in the village, we were luck enough to find September cottage. You simply could not believe what lies behind those white walls. I spent the entire time trying to think of any way you could improve the cottage, or the experience whilst staying there and you can't. The kitchen is an utter thing of beauty, and absolutely everything for any occasion is there. The decor, choice of furniture, every single detail is brilliant. Also, having two separate floors for the bedrooms means comple privacy. I have never experienced such luxury in a rental cottage in my life. You could not believe that the house had ever been used. By far the best experience. And the cleaning and change of linnen half way through was brilliant. This is probably one of the most beautiful villages in England, and this is by far the best cottage in that village. Do not hesitate to book this place, if you are lucky enough to find a gap when it is free !

Absolutely perfect New Year's in the Countryside

Absolutely perfect New Year's in the Countryside
  • 5 out of 5
We spent the New Year period in September Cottage and it was absolutely amazing. The cottage is plenty big enough for the 3 couples that were staying. Everything has been thought of and everything has been completed to such a high standard.

We were blown away by the cottage when we first walked in, it is so beautiful! Being there in the winter, we made full use of the fire, aga and underfloor heating.

There are plenty of walks right from the door of the cottage and the pub across the green is also lovely.

We will be returning to the cottage in the very near future!
