We are a family living in Santa Monica California and we are delighted to have completed the new construction of our Woodstock getaway. My wife, Lydia Simon, is currently a realtor in Malibu, but a longtime resident of Woodstock, and second generation owner of our property here in Woodstock Village. We finally conceded that the old house had grown to weak to handle any more repairs and had become a money pit. So we rebuilt it from the ground up. We hope you enjoy it.
Woodstock is listed as one of the '1000 Places To See Before You Die' Even if we didn't have roots here, we would have found our way somehow.
Last year we tore down the 120 year old converted tavern that once stood there as our home and rebuilt it to resemble its former self. The interior is completely different, but the footprint and the 1.5 acre landscape hasn't changed. We wanted the opposite of the old dark interior, which was cramped and lacked windows, so we opened everything up and added lots of windows and gave it loads of light. We wanted to see everything from the kitchen table. And we wanted the modern conveniences of a Bose music player while we stare out the windows with a cup of coffee at pure tranquility. We envisioned our family of eight on both sides of the family sitting around the dining room table with plenty of elbow room. And we dreamed of the romantic nights of the whole house to ourselves. So far, so good.
