Large four star self catering characterful cottage sleeps up to 9 in 5 bedrooms
Located amongst the quaint old streets of East Looe, Lantau Cottage is an immaculately presented former 17th Century Ship Merchants' Cottage. Dating back over 400 years, the property is steeped in a rich history with many original features including panelled walls, beamed and gabled ceilings, oreil windows and a winding staircase that incorporates an original full size ship's mast. With quality furniture and soft furnishings throughout, guests will appreciate the attention to detail. Alistair Sawday's Special Escapes: Lantau Cottage is the only self catering property in Looe that is listed in Alistair Sawday's renowned Special Escapes guide. This is an independent guide that carefully selects unique high quality character properties. This is an extract from the guide:
'Gabled ceilings, wonky floors, a winding stair that includes a ship's mast and, in one bedroom, a stunning Elizabethan panelled wall: the house was built for a ship's merchant in the 1600s. Sandwiched between two tiny streets, spread over three storeys, it presents you with a living room with comfy sofas and a wood-burner, a dining table with church pew seating and ladderback chairs, a children's sitting room with a sofabed under the rafters and three double bedrooms, one single and a twin, two shower rooms and a characterful little kitchen. You're as snug as a bug and very comfortable too, thanks to new beds and super mattresses, white sheets and feather pillows, nautical pictures and lovely glass and china. '
