Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday villa in Agia Galini - Vista Villas - Agia Galini

2 Bedroom, Air Conditioned Villa, Private Pool, Stunning Views. Sleeps up to 5

Vista Villas (see also, our advert No. 1307240 on Homeaway) are an extremely peaceful and intimate family of villas that lie just over one mile away from the vibrant, friendly and pretty town of Agia Galini on Crete’s southern coast. Each villa has its own private grounds, private swimming pool, and individually gated access. Formerly the sight of an olive grove, the recently built Vista Villas grew to maturity in 2009 and offer magnificent, panoramic views - incorporating hills and mountains as a stunning backdrop, and looking out upon the Bay of Mesara and the islands of Paximadia.

Details for holiday villa Villa Nisi, 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 5, 1 Bathroom

Villa Nisi offers two spacious double bedrooms; both of these rooms having large, built-in wardrobes giving plenty of storage / hanging space....for your bikinis, shorts and sandals!?! Additionally, the three-seater sofa in the living area unfolds to form a large and comfortable bed. The living and dining areas are cool, bright and open-plan, and lead through to a modern, fully fitted kitchen. For complete comfort all year round, the living area and both of the bedrooms have air conditioning - Hot or cold. Nestled in an old olive grove this recently built, architect-designed villa shows sensitive touches of traditional Moorish styling, but also offers contemporary living with all the comforts of a modern family home. Outside, the villa has its own, private swimming pool adjoined by a sun terrace, with views to the Libyan Sea. A further roof terrace enjoys wonderful panoramic views to both the sea and the rugged Cretan hills which surround and protect Villa Nisi.

About Don Hutchin

Now in my early eighties and having worked as a carpenter, building manager and house-builder throughout my life, I have retired and spend the majority of my time living in Crete, enjoying the friendliness and warmth (both people and climate) here and a way of life so much more in tune with relaxation and the taking of time, to that of the stressful bustle back in England. I still love England and after 70+ years I still consider it to be 'home' but I know where I'm happiest and most content. Right here in Agia Galini, Crete. I had six individually designed villas, combining modern living with traditional styling, built here whilst taking a 'less physical' role myself and oversaw the project from start to finish. They're my life's work and I'm very proud of them.

Don Hutchin purchased this villa in 2006

Why Don Hutchin chose Agia Galini

I bought the land to build on here, just outside Agia Galini for several reasons. It was a comfortable distance from the town and harbour to reach in five or six minutes by car, and far enough away to soak up the peace and tranquillity of the stunning terrain and velvet black night skies. The villas stagger/terrace the hillside and look out at the Bay of Mesara just about a mile away. Also, I feel that the south of the island is more temperate as it edges onto the Libyan Sea. The south too, especially here, is not overly developed nor has it lost its authenticity to commercialism. Agia Galini, in my mind, is a great balance of old and new and gorgeous sandy beaches are within easy reach.

What makes this villa unique

Staying here allows you privacy and relaxation. Your own pool glints in the sunlight (for most of the year!) and passing traffic is practically non-existent. The rhythmic humming of cicadas and the gentle clanging of goat bells are just about the only sounds to 'disturb' the silence here, but these melodies simply add to the feeling of calm meditation. A short drive takes you into Agia Galini where there are more than enough restaurants and tavernas to pick and choose from. Traditional Greek/Cretan cuisine and wonderful Mediterranean offerings or, if you're not feeling terribly adventurous, UK fayre can also be easily found.

Villa Nisi exceeded our expectations! :-)

  • 5 out of 5
The villa gave us the tranquility and privacy we love so much when we are on vacation. We had breakfast and dinner on the terrace of the villa and enjoyed the endless view and the warm climate.
We loved Preveli Beach...the Palm Canyon there is well worth a visit as well as having a cold drink afterwards at the beachbar in the shade.
As for shopping we got all our groceries in Agia Galini. We have huge supermarkets here (Germany) so why not shop where the locals do. Across from the first supermarket in Agia Galini there is a building that looks more like a construstion site, but there we found local veggies and fruit for an unbelievable low price.
Komos Beach is good for sunbathing and walking along the shoreline 'til you reach Kalamaki Beach with Cafes and Tavernas.
We also like Zaros and eating by the lake once finishing the hike into the canyon. Ah, there is so much more.
Crete offers a lot of different trips and things to do and see.
I am sure people have different expectations or prefer different things, but in OUR experience Villa Nisi was just right.
I am sure we will be back.

Lovely place - exceeded expectations

  • 4 out of 5
We stayed at Villa Nisi for two weeks in September this year with a three year old and six month old. It was fantastic and our three year old has asked to go back to "the holiday house" every day since we came home. Don, the owner, was chatty and offered advice about beaches/food without intruding on our time and Paul the UK-based booking agent was highly organised and even kindly offered the chance to cancel the booking if we were worried about our children near the pool (we weren't). We enjoyed Agia Galini, which we found pretty much unchanged from an earlier visit 14 years ago. You definitely need a car to stay in Villa Nisi but its hilltop location is gorgeous. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

La Villa Nisi is superbe. We are two peoples with one baby and we all have the best time. Really tranquille and gentle all around. The village Agia Galini is very close with nice beach and lots of the lovely tavernas. We recomend la Villa Nisi to everybody if you are young and if you are old. We have the very lovely vacation here.

Truly Amazing!!!

  • 5 out of 5
I'll make this short, the villa itself is beautiful, it has a lovely pool which is the perfect size, everything in the villa is clean and works great. The views from the villa are stunning and the sky at night is incredible!!

Don (the owner) & Pepper (his dog) are both very nice, very helpful and friendly but not intrusive.

As for Agia Galini, it is a beautiful, picturesque fishing village with about 20 odd little restaurants to choose from, we did not have a single bad meal and to be honest I think that's the 1st time I can say that about any holiday, it also has a few little supermarkets (our fav was on the 1st on the right as you come down into the town after the sharp left hand bend) Also has a bakery there which bakes nice fresh bread everyday.

We are 100% coming back to this villa next year, it was our favourite holiday destination and villa.

Hope this review helps.

Agia Galini
Car: necessary

Agia Galini offers some great boating daytrips (with or without meals) to neighbouring beaches, coves and islets, as well as to the twin islands of Paximadia ‘floating’ sublimely in the Bay of Messara (as seen from your villa window!). Preveli beach lagoon with its two monasteries and small, palm tree forest is a sheer delight and well worth hopping on board a boat for a visit. Alternatively, drive there... it's not much more than half an hour away by road.

Fabulous weekly markets in the nearby towns of Timbaki and Mires run throughout the year and offer a huge choice of fresh, local and exotic produce from everyday vegetables and fruit, to honey, snails, cheese etc., as well as handicrafts and the occasional 'kitchen sink'. It's all there and wrapped in the warmest and most friendly atmosphere so typical of Greece, and in particular, southern Crete.

Nearest of Crete’s major archaeological and historical sites is the Minoan Palace at Phaistos (approximately 15 - 20 km to the east) on the fertile Messara plain. Equally as close and just as easily accessible are the historic site of Gortys and the stunning caves at Malala... open to visitors all year round.

Farther away (but worth every minute of the drive - allow at least 3 hours) in the west of Crete lies the Samarian Gorge - amidst The White Mountains. This stunning slice of beauty and mother nature’s art runs for 18 km and is the longest gorge in Europe. Known by locals as ‘Farangas’ (Great Gorge) due to its majesty and sheer size, the Samarian Gorge is undoubtedly Crete’s greatest natural treasure.
