Small studio in the hills above Corfe Castle

Currently going through a house sale/purchase and we needed time out, so a spur of the moment decision was made after finding this property on the nternet. Arriving frazzled and stressed on Friday afternoon, we went through the motions of unpacking and settling in. Yes the cottage is small and yes it is basic, but after an hour or so we literally felt ourselves relaxing and after a cup of tea and a delivery of some home made cake by our hostess, we even remembered how to smile! Saturday we walked along the Purbeck Hills into Swanage, enjoying the stunning views over to Poole harbour on one side and the beautiful soft landscape of Dorset on the other. We made our journey home on the famous steam train and walked the mile or so back to the studio from Corfe. A welcome shower when we got back, very spacious and plenty of hot water and we felt ready to face the world again. We ate 1 evening at Bankes which we found very disappointing, but made up for it the next evening with a great meal and lovely atmosphere at the Castle Inn. Breakfasts and nightcaps were had on the terrace and Sunday found us walking along the Purbeck Hill ridge again (after a very long and lazy breakfast), but this time in the opposite direction. We saw a mother deer with two young and were thrilled with the amount of wildflowers, butterflies and birds we found along the route. Living in Devon and only 1.5hrs away this is a really lucky find for us as it's so very convenient, and we will certainly use it again - whenever we feel the need to escape and if we can get in! We stayed at the Hideaway recently, the last week of July, and we had a wonderful time. I never expected to find somewhere so peaceful and secluded during the school holidays! The surroundings are very beautiful and nearby walks provide some of the best views I’ve seen. There’s a very easy walk to the pretty village of Corfe Castle, and the wonderful steam train ride to the seaside. Angela and Tony were very considerate and accommodating and a mine of local knowledge. We didn’t want to leave!

Situated at the bottom of a beautiful garden, with your own access and a mile down a lane from Corfe Castle, 'The Hideaway' offers serenity and peace. I have enjoyed stays here on several occasions when I have needed some space.This studio is small and compact with a tiny kitchen suitable for preparing breakfast or snacks; no cooking facilities. Super shower with plenty of hot water. Bed is a small double and only for those who favour an extremely firm bed and limited space! However, the owner assures me the mattress is soon to be changed. I also take my fold away deck chair for comfort. For those who, during the summer months, are happy with basic but adequate amenities and with the plus of the delightful couple living in the main house, this is place.
