Chalet Rivendell is situated at 2000 metres in Lauchernalp a small village high above the Lotschental Valley enjoying panoramic views of the famous Bietschorn Mountain and glacier. Chalet Rivendell is located within walking distance of the main ski lift,ski school / hire, internet cafe, shops, restaurants and bar. The Chalet is ideally situated for ski in - out in the Winter and makes a great starting point to enjoy many of the lovely walks all year around. The resort of Launchernalp has one of the most reliable snow covers of the region and is ideal for all levels of skiers and snowboarders with 33 Kilometres of trails from 3111 metres down to the chalet at 2000 meters and on down to 1375 metres in Wiler.

Chalet Rivendell has been inspected by the Swiss Tourist Office and awarded a 4* star rating from 2008 - 2019 is luxuriously appointed to a high standard and fitted with all modern appliances to make your holiday special.

Dear Mark and Jayne, we were really lucky with the weather and the snow. We loved your Chalet because for us (family with three children aged 6-12) it provides everything we need. Also, it is really great that the Chalet has everything like Fondue, Raclette equipment, basic snow equipment (sledge etc.). We would be very happy to come again. Best wishes Michael and Susan

Luxury chalet with a breathtaking view

Great Location, Great Chalet!
We stayed here with Friends and I must say the Chalet is really nice. It has all the features a chalet needs, all the mod cons and the place still feels like new. In the mornings we have a short walk to the ski lifts and then at the end of the day you can ski back to the chalet. The views from the chalet are great, looking over a the valley of Wiler. If you have enough of skiing it's lovely sitting out on the balcony in the winter sun looking at the views! The Chalet comfortably sleeps a maximum of 8 people and does not feel cramped. The log burning stove is also great, the chalet is really warm anyway but you can have it really nice and toasty if you get a few logs burning ;-) . The heated floors are also very nice first thing in the morning when you step out of the bed (also a good way to dry off clothes at the end of a day). The skiing is also very good, with a few challenging runs to boot, slopes are not too busy and not many queues at the lifts. I would happy recommend this chalet to anybody planning a Ski trip.... I am currently looking at booking in the summer to check out the slopes for walking and cycling.

My family stayed in this lovely chalet from 7 to 14 July 2010. The chalet is located in a quite and beautiful mountainous area. It is a little bit far from big towns. Just like what the owner said in the advertisement, the chalet is very clean, spacious, accommodating, and very well equipped. It looks that the chalet is new. Because the area is under development, the chalet has no mailing address, which means a difficulty to reach it using a navigation system. For those who are the first time to visit Switzerland, The road to this chalet is a nightmare. It is very narrow and zigzagging while you go up the mountain. After I drove it few times, it became very interesting. For those who will come from Interlaken area, the road includes a ferry that coast 20 Franks for one way (25 in weekends). The owner of this chalet looks very busy when I contacted him. It took him more than a week to reply every e mail that I send. This made me very nervous. At that time he had not posted his phone number. Although this vacation seemed to be not good in the beginning, it turned out to be one of the best I have ever had and part of that was due to accommodation.

We came to love the Swiss Alps through some good friends organising walking trips along the paths and trails that are such a delight to use in the Summer months.
We then came in December our first Winter in the mountains and it was wonderful and we caught the bug of Winter sports and the rest as they say is history
