Log home built as Mom's dream. Originally a gathering place for the 8 children, spouses, grandchildren, friends. Mom and Dad moved for a night and stayed for their lifetime. Much advice was provided while rocking on the porch or taking a walk in the woods, or fishing in the pond. Described as serene and peaceful by some. Adventurous and lively by others. Pool and hot tub available in season. View of 400 acre farm and surrounding foothills.

Alice Rice purchased this cabin in 1989

We've had every kind of event you can imagine here. Marriage encounters, weddings, funerals. Everytime, incredible memories are made and life-long friendships formed.

Many memories have been made sitting and talking on the porch. On bourbon trail, avail for KY Derby

Like coming home! Perfect base camp for touring the Bourbon Trail. Especially enjoyed the two sweet dogs who ran to greet us whenever we returned to the cabin. Beautifully situated. Fabulous front porch. Convenient kitchen.

Owner's Response: I feel the same way when I am at the cabin. Home sweet home. Come again when the fall colors are brilliant. Mid-late October.
Thanks foe the kind remarks.

EXCELLENT WEEKEND GET-AWAY

  • 5 out of 5
We rented this cabin for a long weekend with my brother and a few
friends. From beginning to end, our overall experience was
excellent.

Beautiful log cabin with full kitchen, living room, downstairs
bedroom, and upstairs loft. The owners live nearby and are welcoming
and easy to deal with.

Easily sleeps five singles, maybe three couples plus two singles.
One thing to note: The whole place is essentially one single room
(plus the bathroom). The downstairs and loft are connected, the
kitchen is attached.

Fantastic living room with seating for 10 around a wonderful
wood-burning fireplace. We especially enjoyed a warm fire after a
long day of bourbon tours and tastings.

Full kitchen was well-stocked and up to the task for 5 guys.

Location well off the beaten path, but convenient to the bourbon
trail with a beautiful view of quiet Kentucky farm country.

BOURBON TRAIL HOMEBASE

  • 5 out of 5
The cabin was a beautiful step back in time but with all the necessary amenities. The views of the surrounding farms in the valley and the hills ranging beyond were beautiful. We enjoyed each evening around warm blazes in the outdoor firepit, upon which we also prepared some of our dinners, gazed at the stars, and enjoyed listening to the gentle moo'ing of cows and the exhilarating howles of distant coyotes (along with our favorite bourbons and cigars).

The cabin was the perfect center point to spend the days visiting numerous distilleries in the surrounding area. We enjoyed a first class dinner in nearby Bardstown and enjoyed the one wet day in the caves at Mammoth Cave National Park.

If you're looking for peace and relaxation, with some fun adventure mixed in, you'll love the cabin and the area.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. I'm glad you found a great adventure on the rainy day. Perfect choice to see Mammoth Cave as it is always around 60 degrees.

Thanks for selecting us for your homebase while in the Bardstown area.

BEAUTIFUL PEACEFUL SETTING, FEELS REMOTE BUT IS CONVENIENT

  • 5 out of 5
Six friends from all over the US and Canada spent a wonderful weekend. Serene setting, beautiful scenery, plenty of space for 7 adults. Quiet and feels remote but is minutes away from the interstate and truly only 35 minutes from Louisville (airport)--no traffic noise whatsoever. Plenty of space and good terrain for pleasant walks and hiking (no rock-climbing or rapelling as far as I could see). Generous parking for several vehicles; tables and chairs available for eating inside or out.

Clean, well-maintained property, accurately depicted in photos and listing descriptions. Owner provided all stated conveniences and was able to answer all questions; was prompt in responding to any inquiries. I would recommend and would stay again. With location deep in the counryside, it is approximately 30 minutes to restaurants, distillery tours, golf courses, and historic attractions in Bardstown; slightly nearer to the Kentucky Railway Museum, which also features train rides. Lincoln's Birthplace National Historic Site is also within approximately a 30-minute drive.

PEACEFUL GETAWAY

  • 5 out of 5
I visited the cabin in the woods with my two brother and our father. Our goal was a peaceful weekend to reconnect and enjoy conversation. What a gorgeous setting and fantastic place to relax. We spent a day in Bardstown but frankly we could have just hung out at the property enjoying the scenery. The cabin was perfect with plenty of space (we spent all of our time on the porch). This is definitely on our list of possible return trips.

One note, this is a cabin, not a house made to look like a cabin. If you are hotel dweller you may find it primitive for your taste.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your gracious review. Many family discussions were held on that porch overlooking our corn fields. Dad had his rocking chair and we would pull up beside him to talk about life. You are also correct in that this is s true log home. This was Mom's dream. There are many special touches make it cozy and peaceful. Come later in the fall. The colors are magnificent.
