Guestbook comments from the owner
This cabin really is a gem. Stay here--you won't be disappointed. Our family of 5 stayed for 45 days while we searched for a new home. Moose Walk Cabin had everything our family needed. We really enjoyed watching the wildlife through the large picture windows downstairs. The beds are the most comfortable I have ever slept on. Everything you need to cook (minus food) is in the large kitchen. The wood fired sauna was a great treat to relax in on a cold winter day. A grocery store and the Santa Claus House are only three minutes away in North Pole.

We are an active duty military family. We were stationed in Fairbanks Alaska from 2005 to 2009. We were relocated by the military, but knew we wanted to return to Alaska for retirement. In 2011 we had the opportunity to return to Alaska. We have been waiting for 'just the right place' to become available, for us to start our retirement dream of running a B&B/vacation rental in Alaska. Moose Walk Cabin was exactly what our family was looking for. We absolutely love everything about Alaska. We look forward to making your stay in Alaska, no matter how long, a memorable experience.

Terri Pangborn purchased this cabin in 2013

This property was chosen because of the birch and spruce trees, the access to the stream, and central location between the Ft Wainwwright, Eielson Air Force Base and the cities of North Pole and Fairbanks. The neighborhood is well maintained and neighbors add on to their homes rather than move to another location. They value their land, homes and Alaskan way of life. It is a wonderful community and provides an authentic Alaskan neighborhood for the visitor.

This private waterfront property allows you to stay in a rural residential setting. You have access to a 2 acre yard, a wood burning sauna in a separate building, a playhouse, a pavillion with a fire pit, picnic tables and expertise from your hostess if needed.

BEST STAY OF OUR TRIP!

  • 5 out of 5
Our stay at the cabin was above and beyond what we had hoped for! The cabin was furnished with comfortable couches and beds and had every amenity we could possibly need(Wifi, Keruig, TV with HBO, to name a few). Rod and Terri made us feel at home- they even gave us a delicious cake and homemade sweet iced tea! Rod even gave one of our party a fly fishing lesson. They live next to the cabin which was great since they're such nice people and fun to talk to. But, if you'd rather keep to yourself, there's certainly enough privacy to do so. They gave us some advice about things to do in the area and were available if we had any questions. We also loved visiting their chickens and playing fetch with their dog, Bobo! While we were busy most of our stay seeing the sights, we did spend a full day at the cabin which was one of the best days of the trip. We built a fire, canoed, fished, cooked on the grill and enjoyed the scenery. We also saw three moose in the creek and I saw a flying squirrel! It was a great time and I'd love to come back! I highly recommend!!

AMAZING ALASKAN EXPERIENCE

  • 5 out of 5
I really enjoyed staying at the Moosewalk cabin. It had everything we needed - comfortable beds, a fully functionally and equipped kitchen, and enough space for 6 adults. However, the best part of my stay at this cabin occurred outside. The view overlooking the water is magnificent and we were even treated to seeing 3 moose feeding directly behind the property. The owners are extremely nice and accommodating - recommending things to do and places to see. They even took the time to give us a fly fishing lesson. I would stay here again in a heart beat.

GREAT PLACE!

  • 5 out of 5
We stayed here for a few days for vacation and absolutely loved it. The cabin is beautiful and was clean, comfortable (the beds were great), updated, and stocked with everything you need from extra linens to coffee and even a delicious homemade cake. We enjoyed the canoe, fire pit, and other amenities. The owners were incredibly friendly, accommodating, and were full of information for out-of-towners. Would highly recommend!

HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME!

  • 5 out of 5
This was the first time I had rented through VRBO and certainly won't be my last. The cabin was exactly as-described and actually even better than the description and photos! The cabin was well stocked with extra blankets, towels, etc., and even some food items like coffee and condiments. There were plenty of dishes, pots, pans, etc., and it had basically everything needed for our group of 6 to be able to cook meals during our stay. The beds were extremely comfortable (better than my own bed at home, actually) as were the couches on the first floor. The kitchen appliances were great and we also used the washer and dryer once during our stay, which worked well. The cabin itself is in great shape and we had no issues with anything inside of the cabin (or outside, for that matter!).

The owners, Rod and Terri, were so welcoming and nice and we had a great time hanging out and talking with them. They went above and beyond expectations to the point where One of my friends bought a temporary fishing license and Rod actually took him out on the canoe and taught him how to fly fish! Did I mention the canoe? We had so much fun using the canoe out on the water. Being that we stayed here in summer, we had no problem canoeing at midnight, since it was bright enough outside to do so! Rod and Terri also have chickens, which were a lot of fun. Henrietta the chicken wandered over to the cabin a few times and being that we're all from the city, the chickens were such a novelty! Terri also brought us Sweet Tea one of the days we hanging out at the cabin. Seriously, Rod and Terri were awesome hosts!

One recommendation: If you are renting this cabin, plan to stay here for at least a day, during the day, in summer! Don't just use it as a place to sleep. There is so much to do on the cabin property and we had a nice time just hanging out on a Saturday afternoon, which was awesome especially after being busy all week of hiking and sightseeing.

This cabin exceeded my expectations and I think everyone in my group wants to return in winter so that we can see the Northern Lights. Again, I highly recommend this cabin and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

GREAT AMENITIES, GREAT PEOPLE, GREAT VACATION SPOT

  • 5 out of 5
I can't say too much about what a great stay this was. The location is an easy drive into Fairbanks or over to Chena Hot Springs and is located on a beautiful spot for recreation. It is also only about 3 miles from downtown North Pole and all supplies - groceries, etc. The home itself is cozy and welcoming and comes well equipped with pretty much everything you need, from the washer/dryer to a one-cup coffee maker. The only amenity that a family might miss is a dishwasher, but it didn't bother me. Aside from the cozy cabin, one of the best parts of the stay are the host, Rod and Terri. They love Alaska and are a can give you pointers and tips on pretty much anything. They are really helpful and friendly, located nearby, but perfectly willing to leave you to yourself if you prefer. I took advantage of their knowledge of the area and greatly benefited and my trip was definitely better for it. And I have great tips for my next trip up there. This was a great experience and I look forward to visiting again.
