Nice / Vieux Nice area: Nice has attracted many famous people over the years and is full of culture and if art is your 'thing' then why not visit some of the many museums such as the Musee Chagall or Musee Matisse or indeed the Maeght Foundation in nearby St Paul de Vence which holds a mix of modern and contemporary art and contains one of the most important collections in Europe. you can get to St Paul de Vence in about an hour by bus from the main bus station in Nice ( approx 5 mins walk from the apartment). Alternatively, you can visit one of the many churches / Cathedrals in Nice, some dating back to the 17th Century.
Annual Events: Throughout the whole year there is something going on and events NOT to be missed include :
* The Fete du Citron in Menton with fantastic exhibitions and carnivals with floats made out of citrus fruits
* Nice Carnival - 2012 years theme is The King of Sport - FULL of huge floats and a great party atmosphere
* Nice Jazz Festival - held in July and attracts people from all over
* Cannes International Firework Festival - countries compete with a grand spectacular of fireworks to music
NOT to mention of course, the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix and many, many more events !
Provence Cote d'Azur region: If this is your first visit to the Cote D'Azur then you are in for a real treat ! There is so much to do for all members of the family with so many exciting places to see, you will not be disappointed. Nice is fun, cultural, sophisticated and exudes charm with a capital C.
Provence is renowned for its rosé wine and lavender fields and if you want to venture further inland then why not pick up a hire car and head towards the vineyards and sample some of the locally produced goods - a fantastic way to see rural France at its best ! Alternatively, in late July / August why not head towards the lavender fields, they really are a truly magnificent sight to behold with a 'carpet' of lavender everywhere.
During the winter months, then why not spend a day or two at one of the local ski resorts which are within easy distance ( about 1 and a half hours by car) the resorts of Isola 2000 and Auron are very popular and well worth a visit.

Thank you Sheena for creating a wonderful holiday apartment. You really have thought of everything - from beach towels and mats to umbrellas for the occasional thunderstorm. The welcome pack was much appreciated. we have found the apartment a very comfortable place to be and soon felt right at home. we have enjoyed Nice but we really want you to know that we have particularly enjoyed spending time in this light and airy space you have created. We came here to chill , with just a short walk to the beach, restaurants , parks and all amenities , we were able to do just that. What more could we have asked for. Thank you Very Much !
We came to live in France some 7 years ago for a change of lifestyle and it has been quite a journey ! The Cote D'Azur is truly a wonderful place to live with most time spent outdoors enjoying the beautiful scenery and surrounding towns , not forgetting of course the amazing weather which we are blessed with here . Originating from Cheshire, we truly appreciate the warmer climate !
We love Nice and in particular the Old Town with its cute little streets, plenty of places to eat, you will not be disappointed - all of which are literally on your doorstep . The buildings are so old, individual and fascinating its a great base from which to enjoy your stay in Nice.
All home comforts are catered for making it a true Home from Home.
