5 bedroom house to sleep 10 in the centre of Bourg d'Oisans

The house is a stunning newly refurbished, unique property on three levels. The first floor entrance leads you into a fully fitted kitchen and large lounge. Take your meals at the large dining table with seating for 10 or sprawl on the comfy leather sofas in front of the fire or 42' LCD TV. The main bathroom has a large bath, shower, toilet and sink. The tower staircase leads onto the first floor with 4 bedrooms (two large doubles with en suite showers and two twin bedded rooms) and an extra toilet. The ground floor level has the final double bedroom. All rooms have great views with the bedrooms at the front looking directly onto Alpe d'Huez. Each bedroom is tastefully furnished with new high quality Brooklyn Oak furniture, memory foam mattresses and plenty of storage space. There is ample space for storage of bikes and a separate heated ski locker and parking on the street right outside the house. The large garden backs onto a delightful stream.

The House: The house is simply stunning, completely refurbished and new to the market from 2010. The furnishing is of the highest order and you will not want for anything during your stay with us.

Getting to Bourg and Alpe d'Huez: The closest airport is Grenoble, a small provincial airport that is wonderfully quick to get in and out from. Ryanair fly all year round and Easyjet in winter. Grenoble airport is 56 miles and about an hours drive from Bourg. We recommend pre-booking car-hire or you can take the transfer to Grenoble City Centre and a bus from there. Almost as easy is Lyon airport which is 85 miles and about an hour and a quarter drive. British Airways and many of the low cost airlines operate flights to Lyon and there is more choice to Lyon from airports in the Midlands and the North. Some guests also fly into Geneva which is about 2 1/2 hours drive. Grenoble train station and city centre is 44 miles from Bourg d'Oisans with a number of buses available. If you prefer to drive it is 8 to 9 hours from Calais or Boulougne. It's an easy, if long drive, as the motorways tend to be much quieter than the UK. The tolls are about 80 euros each way.

A perfect position for enjoying summer and winter activities, walking, climbing, horse riding, cycling, water sports, swimming, fishing, golf and paragliding are all on your doorstep. The Tour de France and the Marmotte touring race have made Bourg into a cycling mecca and you are ideally placed to make your way up the famous ‘21 bends’. The stunning Ecrins National Park has over 680km of way-marked trails ranging from simple walks to adventurous hikes. It is just a short stroll to the centre of the pretty village of Bourg d'Oisans. Bourg has several restaurants, cafes, a large supermarket and busy year round Saturday market. Within walking distance, communal tennis, a bouledrome and an open air pool with grass area for picnics. In the winter, ski the fantastic resorts of Alpe d'Huez (20 mins), Les 2 Alpes (30 mins) and the pretty tree lined resort of Vaujany. You are also less than an hour away from the delightful resort of Serre Chevalier.

Ski: The house is perfectly placed to experience the fantastic resort of Alpe d'Heux, one of the largest resorts in France and boasts an excellent snow record, extended season and is ideal for skiers and snowboarders of every level. Alpe d’Huez is served by 240Km of pistes with 88 inter-linked lifts. For beginners the lower slopes provide 39 confidence boosting green runs. Intermediates and snowboarders can enjoy the 32 blue runs as well as 28 more challenging reds with fantastic excursions to the satellite villages. The advanced skier will find some of the most testing terrain in France from the top of Pic Blanc at 3330mts, with 19 black runs including the longest in Europe, 'La Sarenne', and the intimidating 'Le Tunnel'. A regular ski bus picks up and returns to the village throughout the season. If you want to try a different resort then why not take a trip to the neighbouring resort of Les Deux Alps (30 mins) or the beautiful tree lined resort of Serre Chevalier?

  • Summer 2014 rates are subject to change when the Tour de France Route and La Marmotte Dates have been confirmed. Any booking taken for these weeks prior to confirmation will have first refusal for the relevant week on payment of the appropriate supplement or be offered a full refund.

  • The house is exceptionally large and in order to maintain our very high standards, prices quoted include cleaning at the end of your stay, however in order to keep this cost a minimum to you we ask that you leave the house as you would wish to find it!

    Bed linen is included in the price, just let us know how many beds you require.

    Electricity is included.

    The house is furnished to a very high standard and in order to maintain this a security bond of €400 will be required. This will be refunded shortly after your departure.

For the past 6 years we have come to Bourg d'Oisan for cycling. This is our 3rd house we have stayed in and by far the best house. Everything is how it supposed to be and in terrific shape. Feels like coming home. We already booked the house for next year! Thanks Tony and Nat for a fantastic stay!

We spent a fantastic 3 months in Tony and Nat's lovely house. It was perfect and we couldn't have asked for a more spacious and well-equiped property. When we had visitors, it accommodated 10 of us with ease, and we never felt cramped.
The open-plan kitchen-diner and living area works well for groups, and all the bedrooms have plenty of storage. We loved the huge bath after a hard day's skiing, and never ran out of hot water.
The heated locker room is ideal for loads of ski gear, and the house itself is centrally located, so great for getting bread and provisions by foot.
There are lovely bars and restaurants within walking distance, and it only takes 20 mins to drive up to Alpe d'Huez, so we were delighted with our decision to stay in Bourg d'Oisans rather than in a ski resort. Tony and Nat always answered questions promptly and made our stay hassle free. Looking forward to returning one day soon.

My brothers and I had a fantastic visit to the Alps and stay at the Maison de la Tour. The house was very centrally located about a block from the center of Bourg d'Oisans. The house was clean and well maintained, and the gardens were very peaceful. The house looks in real life exactly like the picture - sort of a mini-estate. This is a cycling mecca with easy access to Alpe d'Huez, Croix de Fer, and Col du Galibier.

Superb Stay

My Husband and Myself stayed at La Maison de la Tour for a week and found it extremely comfortable, Warm and well equipped its situation in the centre of the village made it great for going in to the village in the morning for fresh warm bread for breakfast, delicious.
I could find no fault with this place and since we are regular self catering holiday people and have stayed in a number of high quality accommodation this is a wonderful place to stay.
There was only the 2 of us so we had a lot of room but it can accommodate large parties quite compfortably.
We will definately be going back and hopefully we will have some snow.

Perfect location for cycling base

Stayed at the house for the Marmotte and it is the perfect location being only minutes from the start. The house has lovely grounds and a garage which was great for bike storage. Quality of decoration and furnishings is also excellent. Only minor criticism would be the number of toilets for a house that sleeps 10. In an ideal world the larger bedrooms would have a toilet as part of the ensuite.
Communication with the owners was always very quick.
Highly recommended.
