Ideal for romantic getaways.

EXPLORE THE HIGH COUNTRY

We invite you to join us in the beautiful Juniper Mountains of northwest Arizona. We are surrounded by working cattle ranches, pinion pines, close to ancient Native American ceremonial sites and Route 66. Experience nature and American history at The Cabin at Tumbling Rock Ranch. Also check out our fabulous reviews for our other home listed on VRBO 379349. This home is located on the same 80 acres, so the reviews will give you an idea of how special this property and area is. (Discover Tumbling Rock Ranch by visiting our website!)

Local activities include world-class hiking and visiting several nearby ancient Native American ceremonial sites with extensive walls of petroglyphs. The area is a rock hound’s delight and fossils abound.

Close to Seligman, the birthplace of Route 66, the climate is moderate, year round, with few exceptions. We are at 5800 feet elevation and though we get some beautiful snowfall a few times each season, it generally melts within a day or two.

Wildlife commonly seen include elk, deer, javalina, antelope, coyote, bobcat, and wild burros.

About Carolyn Besler

My husband and I have been savoring the beauty of the Juniper Mountains for the past 10 years. We built this cozy little cabin in 2011 and have decided to rent the cabin out after living in it very comfortably for the past year while we rented out our 3500 sq ft home located on the same 80 acre property. We have been renting (our large home) through VRBO (379349) for a year and have enjoyed a steady flow of guests from all over the country. We will still be living on the property but now have two lovely properties to offer for rent. Both homes are custom built and the setting is amazing. We have four children and seven grandchildren who live somewhat scattered along the west side of the continent. We also have our german shepherd, Kayla, border collie mix, Roxy, and papillon, Sam.

Carolyn Besler purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Carolyn Besler chose Ash Fork

It's a little piece of paradise. This property is peaceful and quiet and away from it all, but an easy drive to all the attractions.

What makes this cabin unique

You cannot beat the mountain views and year-round moderate climate, with an occasional snowfall. Always green. Always peaceful.

Hospitable

  • 5 of 5

Cabin is a great find for those looking to escape urban environments. Owners were super hospitable and wonderful to rent from! I came here with my 7 yr old son and we felt welcomed and safe. The only downfall is location can be a bit of a drive from major cities. But if you're like me and enjoy driving through changing landscapes you'll quickly learn to view driving as part of the adventure.

A Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

What a great place. The cabin is beautifully decorated, clean and fully equipped with everything you'd need. We enjoyed the hiking trails during the day and campfires at night. Even the bed was comfortable. We slept like babies for the four nights we were there. The hosts/owners (Don & Carolyn) were great and very accommodating, making sure we were completely satisfied. If you want a place to go and get away from everything, this is the place for you. Carolyn was also kind enough to let us take a look at the 3000+ square foot home they rent out, which was also beautifully decorated and quite amazing. We look forward to a return to Tumbling Rock Ranch in the future. Highly recommended!

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect! The owners put a ton of thought and care into the property - it had everything we needed including a bbq grill, extra bedding, kitchen pots and pans, firewood and pit, etc. We loved it! We took daytrips to Flagstaff, Sedona, and the Canyon. We would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a remote stay. Oh, and we also went on the tour of the Native American ruins which was also great.

Not Clean

  • 2 of 5

The cabin was adequate, but there were cobwebs all over the ceiling and a 1/8" coating of dust on the ceiling fan. It made us feel like the cabin was not clean. The hot water heater only holds 20 gallons and so made it difficult to get two hot showers at the same time.

Owner's Response: The Review (Not Clean) is very disturbing to us as we pride ourselves on the product we provide and its cleanliness. In our previous reviews we have never had a review below 4 stars with most being 5 star ratings and never a review saying the cabin was unclean (just the opposite). This is also true of our large ranch home (we also rent out). Our properties are located on a ranch with 80 acres of treed land, unlike urban properties. Because of this our cabin can track in some dirt during active use but rest assured that during your stay you will have a clean cabin. We do treat the outside perimeter of the cabin regularly (this does a great job of keeping insects out of the cabin) but during a stay an insect may gain access. As for the dust on the fan we wipe them after every guest leaves and yes they do accumulate quickly if the fan is used a lot, if the doors and windows are left open, or if there is a breeze that is kicking up the dust. We have turned up the temperature on the hot water heater to offer longer showers. Thank you

Back to Nature

  • 5 of 5

This little cabin was perfect for two! We were driving from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas and it was a wonderful "part-way" place to spend some time relaxing and enjoy the quiet. Far away from everything, we enjoyed walking on their huge property, eating outdoors and a campfire and the millions of stars at night. Clean and decorated well. Would definitely stay again if we were in that part of the country again!

Cute, cozy, peaceful and remote

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is cute, cozy, quiet and remote. Views from the cabin windows are very nice however much of the immediate property has lots of construction debris, machinery and equipment scattered throughout which was not very appealing. The owners were very sweet and attentive to our needs. Our young children loved the tour of the petroglyphs and boulders with the owner. It was the highlight of our stay! The main bed has a plush queen mattress but it did give us back aches as it is sagging in the middle. We have had much luck with all natural Dunlap latex mattress. Ikea has one of the most economical options. Our children slept on the futon which was very sturdy and quite comfortable. We also enjoyed seeing so many stars at night and building camp fires. One could easily drive to see the Grand Canyon from this location.

Owner's Response: In response to this review; On our 80 acres we do have a couple of acres devoted to equipment (tractors etc) and building materials that we need for this business and use the equipment and materials for property upkeep and road maintenance. This area is not near or visible from the cabin or from any of our hiking trails. These guests were going into an area that was not meant for rental guests. The rest of the 80 acres are pristine and beautiful. Regarding the bed: We ask most guests how everything was and if the bed is comfortable before they leave the ranch and they have said it was comfortable. Many have volunteered that the bed was good. We checked it out after we received this review and found no sagging in the middle. These are the first guests to comment that the bed was uncomfortable. Though we received no other complaints we did purchase a new Sealy Posturpedic bed.
