Comfortable, 400 square foot cabin with lush mountain views.

Enjoy our comfortable, 400 square foot cabin with studio style bedroom, full bath, full kitchen and walk-in closet. Revel in the rustic charm of warm oak flooring and custom wood walls throughout. With fantastic hiking and spectacular mountaintop views, guests can choose to be physically challenged or just relax and recharge. Favorite evening activities include unwinding around the outdoor fire pit, roasting marshmallows while stargazing, storytelling, and toasting the day’s events.

Ideal for romantic getaways.

EXPLORE THE HIGH COUNTRY

We invite you to join us in the beautiful Juniper Mountains of northwest Arizona. We are surrounded by working cattle ranches, pinion pines, close to ancient Native American ceremonial sites and Route 66. Experience nature and American history at The Cabin at Tumbling Rock Ranch. Also check out our fabulous reviews for our other home listed on VRBO 379349. This home is located on the same 80 acres, so the reviews will give you an idea of how special this property and area is. (Discover Tumbling Rock Ranch by visiting our website!)

Local activities include world-class hiking and visiting several nearby ancient Native American ceremonial sites with extensive walls of petroglyphs. The area is a rock hound’s delight and fossils abound.

Close to Seligman, the birthplace of Route 66, the climate is moderate, year round, with few exceptions. We are at 5800 feet elevation and though we get some beautiful snowfall a few times each season, it generally melts within a day or two.

Wildlife commonly seen include elk, deer, javalina, antelope, coyote, bobcat, and wild burros.

About Carolyn Besler

My husband and I have been savoring the beauty of the Juniper Mountains for the past 10 years. We built this cozy little cabin in 2011 and have decided to rent the cabin out after living in it very comfortably for the past year while we rented out our 3500 sq ft home located on the same 80 acre property. We have been renting (our large home) through VRBO (379349) for a year and have enjoyed a steady flow of guests from all over the country. We will still be living on the property but now have two lovely properties to offer for rent. Both homes are custom built and the setting is amazing. We have four children and seven grandchildren who live somewhat scattered along the west side of the continent. We also have our german shepherd, Kayla, border collie mix, Roxy, and papillon, Sam.

Carolyn Besler purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Carolyn Besler chose Ash Fork

It's a little piece of paradise. This property is peaceful and quiet and away from it all, but an easy drive to all the attractions.

What makes this cabin unique

You cannot beat the mountain views and year-round moderate climate, with an occasional snowfall. Always green. Always peaceful.

Lives up to its reviews

  • 5 out of 5
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage on Tumbling Rock ranch. We choose this place because of its good reviews and also because it was located away from the tourist areas. We were not disappointed. The place was very clean and had everything we needed during our stay. We visited the Grand Canyon and Sedona during our stay and it was a little drive to those places but we didn't mind and actually enjoyed the scenery. I would also recommend the tour that Don offers at a nearby ranch on Native American artifacts. Don is very knowledgeable on their history and he also explained a lot about the area and spent a lot of time answering our questions. We also recommend eating at Lilo's in Seligmans. Food was very good, waitresses were friendly and liked the atmosphere. We loved seeing the beef cattle and wild life on our drive in to the cottage. We definitely recommend this place.

Relaxation obtained

  • 5 out of 5
We had such a wonderful time. This cabin was secluded, quite, and very clean. The little kitchen had just enough essentials to cook your basic foods. There is plenty of land to explore that you don't even have to leave if you rather not. The owners are very nice and accommodating. We also recommend the little side tour Don offers. Our 10 yr. Old loved it! Definitely worth every penny for the cabin and tour!!

Our stay

  • 3 out of 5
We loved the surroundings, the quiet location. But is was very far from the Grand Canyon, a two hours drive. It was also too small for 4 adults. The hosts were very friendly and we loved the possibility to make a campfire.

Owner's Response: We are happy you enjoyed "Tumbling Rock Ranch"! It is a beautiful area. In reference to the distance from the cabin to the Grand Canyon, the time can be variable depending on traffic and the amount of stops you make on the way. We had a Doctor and his family from Germany that stayed in the big house at the same time that said it took him 1 hr 30 min. Some people take a little longer depending on how they drive (this is from the ranch to the park gates, we have no way of knowing how long it will take to get through the park gates). In reference to the size of the cabin... I looked back on our correspondence before the cabin was booked and I did say the cabin is small but we have had 4 adults stay in the cabin and it would be up to her to decide if they wanted to all be in the same room. On our listing we do say it is best for 2 adults or 2 adults and 2 or 3 children.

different and fun

  • 5 out of 5
We stayed for three weeks and loved every minute. My friend loves looking for artifacts and spent hours and hours walking all over this land and we also did a lot of hiking together. We enjoyed the fire pit several times and one night just laid on the ground and looked at the stars and saw several shooting stars. Don's tour of the petroglyphs was terrific and one of the highlights of the trip. Don and Carolyn are great to work with and very accommodating. I loved the peace and quiet and the miles of trails to explore. One night we were treated to an unbelievable lightening show behind the distant mountains. Have never been anywhere where you could see the weather for 50 miles or more. Some of the drives to see sites can be long but would recommend Walnut Canyon national monument, Wupatki NM, and Sunset Crater NM as well as the usual ones. Also the Prescott area is lovely and different with a great hike in the Granite Dells.

Loved the cabin and would recommend for a couple. We brought my teenage daughter and her friend but it was too crowded.
