Guestbook comments from the owner
Just a note to say thank you very much for being so welcoming and to say how much we enjoyed our stay on the houseboat. I'm afraid I didn't get round to writing anything in the book, but feel free to copy and paste any of this email into your visitor book.

The kids (as other children before them) really enjoyed feeding the ducks, coots and swans. For other families visiting, we went to both Artis (the zoo) and Nemo and both went down really well with our 7 and 9 year old kids. I was glad we had booked tickets online for the Anne Frank House as that avoided a queue and it was great to visit the Van Gogh museum on a Friday as it is open till 22.00 and meant we could be there pretty much as long as we wanted.

Although we ate out - the kids enjoyed the Italian place nearby - we couldn't persuade them to Thai food, so we fed them something they wanted at the Van gogh museum and later on John and I got a takeaway from the Thai place just up the road which meant we could eat spicey food without having the kids complaining.

WONDERFUL CHARMING HOUSEBOAT!

  • 5 out of 5
We immediately fell in love with the Prinsenboat due to its lovely charm and perfect location. It was quite clean. The owner Peter met us when we checked in and was very helpful and accommodating to our early check-in arrival. The boat has everything one needs to be warm, clean and comfortable. The shower had good hot water, and the kitchen has everything one needs to prepare a meal. The bed is large and very comfortable. In addition, the location was brilliant; right on the Prinsengracht, and also on a street that had lots of great little restaurants and shops and also nearby the Rembrandtplein. We would definitely return, and also would highly recommend the houseboat to couples, perhaps with a child, or singles on a getaway.

EINE SEHR SCHÖNE WOCHE AUF DER PRINSENGRACHT

  • 5 out of 5

GREAT HOUSEBOAT STAY!

  • 4 out of 5
Great location only 30 second from the tram. Stayed here with two adults and a 23 month old and had a great time. Had fun feeding the ducks and birds and waving to all of the passing boats. Houseboat had everything we needed to cook our own meals. Market was less than 5 minutes walk. The mattress was a little stiff but that was really the only thing we could suggest improving. Great place to stay if you are in Amsterdam!

IDYLLIC AMSTERDAM EXPERIENCE

  • 4 out of 5
Amsterdam is a unique city with great history. Looking for an experience truly representative of the city, we elected a houseboat-based stay rather than a hotel. It was a great choice. Prinsenboat is ideally located at the intersection of a primary ring canal and a major thoroughfare. To us, it offered an iconic experience. It is within easy walking distance of the major attractions and many good restaurants and specialty shops are very close by. The boat is very comfortable and, though not luxurious, the advantage of having the canal traffic (boats and ducks) only inches away is a more than acceptable trade-off.

To the extent that there is a downside, it only relates to the timing of our stay, which coincided with the annual "King's Day" celebration. It is a great party--in truth, a bacchanalia, and the Dutch do know how to party!!! Nonetheless, the huge crowd and the endless parade of party boats going by our windows were very well behaved.

We highly recommend Prinsenboat to anyone seeking a truly unique and memorable experience in this great city. Peter is very helpful and easy to work with--a great host.

LOVED IT~

  • 5 out of 5
I loved my stay. I was welcomed with a bottle of wine and fresh roses, zinnias and tulips, of course. The location was safe and convenient. The houseboat was comfortable and everything I needed. I would most certainly recommend this as a place to stay whilst in Amsterdam. My favorite memory was a beautiful swan swimming by in the dark. Wish I had gotten a pic.

A MAGICAL PLACE TO STAY!

  • 5 out of 5
This was our second stay on the Prinsenboat. The boat is perfect for our needs and well-maintained. The bed is super-comfortable! The kitchen is well-equipped. Linens and towels are supplied. Peter has always been very responsive to our questions. Beautiful views of the canal and boat traffic passing by. The location cannot be beat! Literally 10-15 minutes walk to everywhere you would want to be in Amsterdam. Also conveniently located right at the tram stop for line 4. Nice restaurants and shops are close by. There is a grocery store a block away. If you are looking for mini-bars, maid service and room service, this is not your place. If you are looking for a private, cozy, well-located, beautiful houseboat...this is the place! We will be back again in 2015!
