Guestbook comments from the manager
Dear John,

The stay at your place was extremely nice. It was spacious, clean, well-equipped and had a large and well maintained garden and a fantastic view at the sea. The toys, books (Polar Bear!) and DVD selection made our children very happy - thanks for that. We travelled a lot in the past years but I think your place was definitely one of the best. I can only recommend it if one is looking for an inexpensive and quiet hub to make day trips around the peninsula.

all the best

Wonderful Holidays at Tir Na Nog Cottage

  • 5 out of 5
We had a wonderful vacation at 'tir na nog' cottage. The cottage has a lot of space, a very well equipped kitchen and very nice toys for chrildren and some nice games for the whole family. The beds are very good. We loved the silence there, it was such a wonderful view at the sea and the Bere Island. The garden is very well kept. The contact to the landlord was perfect - got always an answer within half an hour! :-) We met the very friendly landlady she brought us a lot of informations and flyer about Beara Peninsula and the area around. We really recommend this cottage for a tranquilled, relaxing vacation - far away from stressful workaday life. We miss Tir Na Nog already.

Car: recommended

Staying at Tir Na Nog you can lose yourself in perfect tranquillity as the cottage is set in 0.6 acres in the peaceful hills above Bantry Bay. The Beara peninsula has in abundance a vast array of things to do including a visit to Bere Island by car ferry or to Dursey Island by the only cable car in Ireland.

Local activities include sea fishing, golfing, diving, canoeing/kayak and sailing.

Castletownbere is the second largest natural harbour in Ireland and is an international fishing port. The port is very cosmopolitan with many European languages being spoken in the bars and shops, mingling with the soft brogue of the locals. The town bustles with numerous restaurants, cafes and pubs - feast yourself on the freshly caught fish produce.

The Ring of Beara is extremely popular with walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers and people who enjoy unspoiled natural beauty.

The famous Beara Way Walking Route has many short loop routes around Castletownbere.

Other Activities: Golf 1km walk - Berehaven 9 hole golf course overlooking Bantry Bay
