I am an Interior Designer and I built this, my dream home, in Shady Cove, OR., after several years of widowhood in Tiburon, Ca. I have lived in the house for one year and would like to share its beauty and functionality. I am also a Paris-trained Chef (Le Cordon Bleu), and am available to cook Dinners during your stay.
Suzanne Falces purchased this chalet in 2011
My late husband and I owned a vacation home in this area in the '90s, and traveled here frequently from the Bay Area before selling it to friends. When he passed away, I wanted to live in a quiet and beautiful setting in a small town with all of the necessities, and the spot where I built my house fitted this description. I had friends here, and the outdoor activities available also appealed to me. The opportunity to build this contemporary log home with so many great details was a wonderful challenge.
The Main House has a wood-burning River Rock FP with rocks gathered from this property during excavation. It is a replica of the FP at Crater Lake Lodge. The back of the FP is in the Master BR and has a vent-free, catalytic gas FP. There is a Gourmet Kitchen, with Wolf and Subzero Appliances, Granite in countertops and splashes, Custom Lighting, and many exquisite details. The house also has Custom Lighting throughout, Theater Room with 70' Flat Screen TV and Surround Sound in Loft above Great Room, and 2 additional Flat Screen TV's, in Master Bedroom and Living Room, Office, Reading Alcove, Bunk Room, W/D, AC, WiFi, and gorgeous hardwood floors. The 1200 sq. ft. deck has Dining Table, Barbecue, Refrigerator, Seating Area, 93 Jet Hot Tub, and access to all rooms. Two-car Garage.
We had a group of couples who wanted to get away from Portland for a few days to celebrate the new year. When we found the Shady Cove Chalet, we were very excited and had high expectations. The Chalet exceeded all expectations. The home is very well designed and has every modern amenity you could think of.
While we were there, we took a day trip to Diamond Lake Resort, which is about an hour away. From there, we took a snowmobile tour to the rim of Crater Lake. Great way to ring in the new year.
I would highly recommend this home to anyone considering it.
What a GREAT house to just get away from it all!! Fabulous amenities in this house - great location to visit Crater Lake, Diamond Lake and enjoy the local town. Look forward to renting this home again in the future!
We rented the main house for 5 nights. This home was even more gorgeous than displayed in the photos. Suzanne, the owner, was very easy to work with from the time of our booking through the time that we departed. We had a party of two adult couples and 3 young adult children. The views from the home are majestic. From the master bedroom, you can open the blinds in the morning and see a view of the morning sun over the mountains. The house was large enough to accommodate both of our families without feeling crowded.
The home was truly well appointed with everything you would need besides food. There is a gourmet kitchen with any appliance that you might need. How bad can cooking be when your kitchen so faces the mountains and so does the outdoor grill on the back deck! We truly enjoyed the home theater upstairs and the outdoor hot tub, especially after a day of hiking.
All of the bedrooms were comfortable with large bathrooms either en suite or just outside of the bedroom. There are plenty of places to sit around and relax while reading, playing games, or watching tv. It is always a plus to have a washer and dryer in the home as well, especially when you are participating in outdoor activities. Some rental properties have bare bone amenities; not this house!! Suzanne paid great attention to detail with her interior and exterior design of the home. The deck that ran the length of the house in the back had a hot tub, chaise lounges, a sitting area to read with an outdoor refrigerator, and a large gas grill. There are really pretty flowers in the back and we enjoyed watching the deer and birds from the back deck.
We chose Shady Cove as it was centrally located within close proximity of those areas that we wanted to see. Crater Lake is about 1.25 hours away, true whitewater rafting (full day trip) is about a 2 hour drive on the Upper Klamath River, there are beautiful waterfalls along route 138 north of Crater Lake (about 1.5 hours away) and Ashland, Oregon (45 minutes away) has some nice restaurants, stores, and the Shakespeare Theater.
This home is truly a gem and I would highly recommend it to others seeking a restful vacation in southern Oregon.
What a wonderful weekend we had at the Bella Chalet! We arrived with 3 other couples, and the owner prepared a delicious dinner for us on our first night. The house is incredible with modern amenities, immaculately maintained, comfortable and spacious. The owner was extremely helpful in answering questions and assisting with our wine tasting weekend. The Guest Suite provided privacy and quiet mornings for our friends who preferred to sleep in. The fully equipped, state-of-art kitchen provided a wonderful gathering place for meal preparation. The landscaping is exquisite and we watched the deer roam the grounds in the mornings and evenings. The photos provided accurately reflect the Bella Chalet's appearance and amenities, but in actuality it is even more impressive when you arrive! It is by far the nicest VRBO we have ever stayed in; the owner being attentive to every detail to ensure a wonderful stay. We highly recommend this property; you won't be disappointed!
Fish the river and stay in this beautiful home for a great vacation. The pictures don't do justice to how nice this log house really is. Shady Cove is the perfect setting and the home owner is helpful in providing a relaxing getaway.
This place is like no other and worth every penny! The home is high end and thoughtfully and tastefully decorated with comfort and function in mind. The home is set on a hill with beautiful mountain views. A small herd of deer walked by the back patio every morning and early evening. We did not lack one thing during our entire stay! Everyone had plenty of privacy when needed and lots of places to gather for talking, eating and relaxing. We took full advantage of the badminton, horse shoes and croquet games and especially enjoyed the spa and hiking trails nearby, including a short walk to the Rogue River. We walked into Shady Cove and visited the shops and eateries and drove to nearby towns for sightseeing (Eagle Point - Vintage Days and Butte Creek Mill) and wine tasting at Agate Ridge (nice Primitivo Red Wine), and Crater Lake wineries. The home's great room has a huge fireplace and our evening fire warmed the home well. The theatre room was fun for all and the kitchen is very well stocked with everything we needed. Our host was very gracious and made sure all details were taken care of and promptly returned our deposit. We highly recommend this vacation rental!
